  • Unboxing, Setting Up and Testing The NEW Harvey Compass ST-1500 Sliding Table! In the UK you can purchase this sliding table from Axminster Tools, which is compatible with Axminster's Harvey Tablesaw. This Sliding table is extremely well made and very heavy. All the components are solid metal, machined perfectly and have a beautiful powder coated finish.

    --------------------------------------------------
    The Compass ST-1500 Sliding Table is designed to bring out the full potential of your AP254LTS or AP254TS table saw. As the name suggests, it offers a full 1,500mm of travel. It comes complete with the highly accurate mitre fence system. The ST-1500 features two unique preloaded V-shape ball bearing tracks which assure free moving accuracy and consistent smooth running.
    The ST-1500 sliding table gives you 1,240mm between the blade and mitre fence for ripping and a maximum cross cut length of 1,500mm with the repeat stop. The mitre fence system features a rock solid fence with a telescopic extension, a large quadrant with indexed stops at common angles and two micro-adjustable flip stops, accurate to within 0.02mm. All these parts are made of 6061 aluminium alloy or stainless steel and precision machined. The mitre gauge has a range of +60° to 60°, with positive stops at +/ 60°, 45°, 30°, 22.5° and 0°. For other angles a vernier scale gives you a reading resolution of 0.1°.
    The Compass ST-1500 Sliding Table upgrades the AP254TS and AP245LTS table saws offering similar capacities to those of a small panel saw. It is easily installed onto either saw. This sliding table attachment can be also installed on other table saws to greatly increase their cross cutting capabilities. It requires a flat vertical face around 50mm deep and at least 1m in length. The sliding table is mounted with just three bolts, so on other table saws three holes may need to be drilled and tapped.

    You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

    Harvey is amazing I have the table saw and the sliding table. I also have the larger dust collection which is a big improvement. The problem I have with the fence miter gauge is when you slide the stop into the end of the extension it doesn’t lineup and it’s really hard to get the stop in to the very end of the extension piece. I had to file it and manipulate it to get it to fit Harvey said they were going to address it six months ago. You just reminded me to give them a call and see if they fix that flaw. I’m curious ,slide that stop in and out of the extended arm on the miter gauge and let me know if you have trouble lining it up thanks for the video and I still love Harvey even though there was a slight flaw

      Hi Ray, yes this happens to mine. Good idea to file that section! I’m jealous of the dust collection you have, it looks great!

    Does this make it safer to use? I notice you're no longer in direct line of a kickback if you're further off to the left as you cut!

    • @SeanEvelegh
      @SeanEvelegh  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it definitely does. You're exactly right, when using the sliding table you stand to the left, it helps you see the blade and if there is kickback, it won't kit you.

    For the price of this extension you could have a proper panel saw with an extension included. It does not make any sense to buy it separately.

    Why does everyone make the shorter accessory extension flush with the main slider? If you don’t do reverse miters, it seems like wasted support behind the fence IMHO. I have mine 4” forward.

    Thanks for the video. I'm thinking about buying one myself, but as I am in a very small shop, I would only be using this for larger cuts and would be taking it off and on. Please consider making a short video on how easy it it to use the table saw with out it, then install the unit so you can use the slide. Thanks

    You mentioned that all the parts are metal,is the metal gold? I just checked the price:£1500.00!Woodworking is an expensive hobby. I hope Axminster provided you with a good deal on this item. They know you’ll showcase this product to its full potential and many of us tool freaks will drool over it. Clever buggers.

    I have had the harvey extension table for a few months now, and I got the 90° very accurate when I first set it up. I went to make some angled cuts on it, and the stop to put it back to 90° has some play in it, so I have to spend some more time to get it back to 90°. Hight quality overall still some play in the stops.

      Yes it's true, this his for next level of table saws, not portable but stationary and solid table saws, more precision and quality cuts.

    I just bought the Harvey version of this to go on my saw. I have the one with that TIn top. Have not set it up yet. I bought it without fence and rails and am installing the Incra LS complete system also with router lift. My plan is to build my own extension table with becomes the work bench so it will become way longer. I'm aiming at something similar to what Dennis did on his Hooked on Wood channel. He's done some excellent work in this area. I'm using this set up for finer intricate work and will use my Felder Sliding table Saw for breaking boards down etc. Harvey Woodworking I have to say have been great to work with. Also worth getting their dust collecting blade guard. It cost less than half the cost of the Felder and is absolutely equal to it. Good video and good luck with your channel.
