Glad it helped. I have to replace mine soon again and dreading it. I'm thinking about taking it in and having the skid plate removed temporarily so I can develop a modification to the skid plate to make it easier.
Ouch. Just picked up a new/old-21 dealer demo Bison. Thought it would be an easy job to do the filter. Better get that done before winter sets in. I don't have a garage. I like the suggestion on going to Rivnuts. Hope that dropped bracket doesn't rattle to much.
So far it's holding :). I'll be due in the spring and I'm thinking of getting a garage to do it and help me modify the skid plate, so I can easily just remove a small panel to do the filter change.
Minute 11:25 can you tell me the name of the part that you showed? Looks like it’s some type of bracket but I am having the hardest time finding it for my husband’s truck. Thank you
Yolanda, that bracket is what I'd call a nut-tab, lol. Not sure exactly what it's called. Starting at 10:20 I make a comment about it. When AEV and Chevy designed the skid plates, instead of installing rivnuts, welding threaded nuts, or tapping threads to the frame for attaching the skid plate. They instead welded nuts to these tabs of various lengths. One is really long, so I don't recommend actually pulling it out. They would then insert those tabs into access holes on the side of the frame and hold it securely somehow, then screw in Bolts from below through the skid plate mounting locations into that nut on the end of the tab. In the video, you can see where I'm ratcheting at a bolt, and I have I locking pliers holding the tab in place. I'll take a picture of it tomorrow and post it. Also, all of those may only apply if your truck has AEV Skidplates.
Question: To do the oil change, did you have to remove skid plates too? Haven't been under the truck yet as I just picked it up. Hopefully the oil drain plug is accessible?
Thanks for your help. I just changed my 2022 Bison fuel filter for the first time. What a pain in the butt!!!! Your video made my job easier!

Do you know if this applies to the 3.6 L V6 engine as well?
It does not, specific to diesel.

No, Oil pan is easily accessible, pretty easy change. Oil filter you can get to just next to air box and engine. At lease for the Duramax.
