- In this ESP8266 project, I have explained how to make an IoT based universal remote control using ESP8266 Google Assistant and Cadio home automation to control all appliances through internet. I have used all the free tools for this IoT-based IR remote controller.

Important points:
1. Download the latest firmware from the Cadio Download Center.
2. In Free Plan, you have reupload the firmware after every 500hr
3. Reset the ESP8266 and wait for 30 sec to go to Config mode.
4. To change the WiFi details, Go to config mode, then enter the WiFi credentials from Cadio app.
5. You can also connect multiple IR emitter LEDs to increase the range.
6. You can only turn ON/OFF any appliances with Google Home app.
7. Please watch the complete video, otherwise you may face some issues.
**Please take proper safety precautions while working with high voltage.
During the Cadio tutorial video, I explained all the steps to make IoT based universal IR remote using ESP8266 NodeMCU and Cadio home automation. This is the most easiest IoT platform for beginner, as it required no coding skill. You can do all the configuration from Cadio mobile app.
With this simple Internet of Things project, you can convert any IR control home appliances to IoT devices without changing any wiring and control them from anywhere in the world.
So, now you can just ask Google Assistant, "Hey Google, turn on AC" that's it.

Hi, i tried doing the home automation using esp32.. it works fine for several IR enabled devices. But i have a orient electric fan with IR remote for which its not working. Do u have any idea on this strange issue.

You can use a transistor to connect multiple LED. transistor base will be connect to GPIO

Simple and powerful. tried and integrated with my home theatre. But Alexa supports only on/off solutions but found an alternate method to control volume and other remote settings by using Alexa routines 😶

No. In that case you have to use 2 microcontrollers and connect them through serial communication.

Ir Signal is very Weak, have to get close to device to get detected by devices, How to Improve ir Signal ?
Ensure your ir led is getting the voltage it needs. It also might be too directional and could use a diffuser, or the opposite, if it's too "floody", you could use a flashlight reflector to improve range.
