Somehow I thought that I'd like to make Crash 1 mods a few days ago.
This is the first Crash 1 mod I made and was made in the shortest period of time (took 3 days).

Idk what's more scary:
The absurd level of platforming, the death pendulums out of nowhere, the lagging sections, or the giant aku aku at the end.
I'll tell you what WOULD be scary: having to get a Plat Relic on N.Sane Trilogy for this level

It's not unprecedented. Some books have characters descending upwards.
I like how on the map you are on the top of the hill, so you are actually descending.
I love how Crash 4 was recently announced but there's still mods for the OG's, keeping the crash legacy alive and well

This level is so dope. The obstacles you made are so well designed. Everything is presented to you in a manner that you have enough time to figure it out, even the rushed sections. Some sick box placements and uses of the falling platforms and birds. This honestly blew me away with how well crafted it was. They need to you to design some levels for It's About Time.

Introducing: Crash Bandicoot Back in Time
The folding steps where there’s different times for each half is a fantastic mechanic!
*Naughty Dog:* We ultimately felt that Stormy Ascent was too difficult to be put in the final game.
*airumu:* Needs to be harder, you said? I'm on it.
The best part is that this mod strikes that sweet spot of being legitimately challenging without ever feeling cheap or unfair. Mad props for that.
Crash 4: Amateurs.
Imagine this on N Sane Trilogy with it’s “pill shaped” collision physics and with time trial relics lol.

On the other hand, N. Sane is more lenient with dying when you don't have all boxes...on non-colored gem routes.

Enemies and hazards from other themes (Ruins,Dark Castle and Generator Room ) in ONE level , I never thought it would come true ...
これだけ面白そうなステージをクラッシュの世界で作るのはもちろんすごいけど、製作者とはいえこれだけ難しそうなステージをノーデスクリアするのもめちゃすごい…
I like how this starts out unassuming... but then it gets absolutely crazy!

このステージすごいクラッシュらしい高難易度で、デザインした人天才だと思う
初代クラッシュのステージのギミックでその中でも難しい奴をこれでもかと詰め込んでるの好き
あと音楽がルナティックドリーマーなのも好き
初代は操作がシンプルな分、簡単な配置でも難しくなるのが面白いなと思いました
(余談ですがステージ名はその"ルナティック"から来ています)

jesus christ. this is badass. i genuinely caught myself reeling at some points and my balls shooting up into my chest at others. i would get such an adrenaline rush from this. i wish naughty dog would release their own version of a user modding game using all the assets of the crash games. at least the first 3 and maybe with some special assets created for just the game.
Airumu's Death Route theme for Slippery Climb/Stormy Ascent would be perfect for a nightmare stage like this. The ONLY thing that is much worse than doing time trials for this is a Death Route for it, at which point it would be renamed Kaizo Descent. And if THAT happens... We're screwed. Plain and Simple.

The modding community for Crash is so talented. Kinda makes me wish we had a Crash game in the style of Mario Maker. We'd get to see some absolutely bonkers creations.

Excellent work on this one. It's very hard, but nothing seems really unfair. It's all about practice and learning how to deal with all the different challenges. I had a lot of fun (and some frustration) playing this and it felt really good when I finally got through the whole thing. I hope you make more of these Crash 1 mods.

My head-cannon is that this was Cortex´s first, long abandoned castle, and that giant aku aku is aku´s and uka´s dad
Imagine the time trials. O__o;;; This was really fun to watch. Same with Garland the Great's playthrough of it. He said he had to play it in sessions to complete it in one straight run. A nicely crafted level indeed. 👍😁

The "normal" Stormy Descent is already difficult. Imagine if this mod were officially release, then it would be difficult as hell. Anyway, I like the mod very much, good job!

It was called Stormy Descent so I thought you modded the level so you would start at the exit and go backwards. It makes me think, are all levels playable backwards?
Yes, the issue is the camera. He would have to change the distance of view when crash faces backwards or when he have to go down. That's what i think.
Globally yes. But some like Jaws of Darkness, Castle Machinery, The Lab (maybe because of the plateform sync), Forteress levels due to the rotative hands like plateforms. Maybe some others but I don't think so.
As @Nisemono Virtual Cancer says, it's possible but I'd have to change the camera distance. For example 5:08, he's on the right side of the screen but when I'm backtracking he's on the center of the screen.

@@macrofage1551 you don't need the rotative platforms if your objective is going down. Only if the game had fall damage. Which isn't the case.
Now that i think about it. Only boulder dash is factually impossible to do backwards without modifying the map.
This is absolutely amazing. Slippery Climb is my favorite level in the game, and I had always wished there was another like it. When I learned of Stormy Ascent years ago, I was sad that it was scrapped but I've always wanted to try it.
Seeing this mod you've done just blows me away. The design here makes me think of Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2, where everything is just extremely harsh and unforgiving. And I won't lie, that's my favorite Mario game.
Do you think if you could ever find enough time for it, you could incorporate this type of level design here into every level in the game? I know that's a lot to ask or even wish for, as I don't know how the modding works and I am sure it's difficult or at the least very time consuming.
But seeing an extremely difficult version of my favorite Crash would really be a dream come true!
It's not so difficult, but it takes a lot of time mainly to think about placement and to make it work stably.
