I recorded this in 1987 from a show called "Jazz Stars of the Future" performed at the Cafe Lido in Newport Beach, CA. The saxophonist is Wayne Wayne with the Lido Jazz Allstars.
This is real jazz, apart from the industry and critics; this music stands as a beacon of light to illuminate the musical truth of aural joy. Wayne Wayne is amazing. This is jazz at it's best.
This has been my absolute favorite song for over thirty years (since seeing The Summer of 42 when 10), and I have never heard it played to it's potential like this. Thank you so much for sharing.
Tina, WW is at the top of the list of what musician deserves TO BE HEARD-- as in INTERNATIONALLY! I've had the pleasure of hearing WW play many times and he never ceases to amaze me with the complete musicality of what he does.
Absolutely phenomenal! Wayne Wayne blows my sox off. I have the pleasure of working with him occassionally, Friday before last as a matter of fact. Nobody interprets a melody like Wayne. He was the best in the Lido days and still is. People need to start knocking down his door to get him on their projects. I just hope I'll get a front row seat when the time comes for him to be up there for the world to hear. Wayne is the music; giving us all something to strive for. Much love, your sister Tina.
Thank you for posting this. Who doesn't miss the Lido.....Amazing the tone and passion of Wayne's performance. The arco is fabulous and Eddie's sparse background.....Gary perfect on dums .....no wobble when Wayne picks the tempo up slightly. Phenomenal musicians.......J
Is he still playing around? I used to see him often at Lido Cafe in the 80s. Great talent. The women would swoon when he played "Europa" by Gato Barbieri. Good times!
Wayne Wayne records and plays with The Chris Ho Band, a great fusion band. Most of the songs on all of Chris Ho's albums feature Wayne on sax. Find Chris Ho Band online. There are two Chris Ho's. The first album, "Lifetime" has a song by the same name. Listen to that one if you like this piece.
I came across this video a few days ago, while looking for sax performances, and I must say it's one of the most beautiful interpretations of this theme I've ever seen. I'm completely besotted with the atmosphere he creates, everything is perfect and I can't stop watching it. I looked for information about Wayne Wayne online, but I couldn't find much. Do you know whether it's possible to buy any CDs from him?
Dang, the saxophone version of Summer of '42 adds something extra that makes it even more beautiful.
Fantástico. Essa música transporta de corpo e alma, a um nostálgico e bom passado. Obrigado mrs. Wayne.
Wonderful sound...great Wayne...nice memory from a famous movie...
I come here about once a month since discovering. Love it!
Excellent rendition of a great and true classic.

This is very, very, VERY, good. Well done Wayne wherever you are.Superb rendition of a classic.!
I've known Wayne for 26 years, and he just gets better and better. When I tell him "Wayne, you blow!" he always takes it as a compliment. ⌠♥⌡
Whenever I hear this i get sentimental
I get sad or in love....nostalgic for sure....
I think in this music we all can understand life good or bad ! It's about life 🥰

Un verano inolvidable...
Ete 1942,my first remembers are asociated with this icónic melody.
I love that song and there are so many good licks there by Wayne and his band. A new favorite
Bellísima versión de la canción banda sonora de la película del mismo nombre, una de mis favoritas y que disfruto mucho cuando la veo.
This is great, I have always loved this song..........
When Wayne worked for me in Bim Bam he always brought it. Great player, one of the best...!
I can not stand waiting to listen that music!
Very nice music and style
I used to love Cafe Lido. Wayne did a great cover of Gato Barberi's arrangement of C. Santana's Europa.
Read my comment! :)
