Mac Mac Ultra | 100 Miler Lumberjack Edition

The MacMac ticked all the boxes as my first 100 Miler for the obvious reasons... forests, mountains, single tracks, perfect bad weather, and of course beer on tap...
BUT what I didn't expect was the fantastic crew, aid stations that were out of this world, and race directors from all over the country, creating an incredible non-stop vibe from start to finish.
I had one goal besides finishing, that was to start the race being the last person over the start line in honour of my friend and mentor Leon Engelbrecht and then to find my own pace and place in the race.
An ultra wouldn't be complete without making new friends, and I was lucky to find Kobus Maree and Werner Oosthuizen, who are both experienced ultra runners and taught and guided me through to the finish.
As by design, Matt joined the party at 110 kilometers while busy with his first 50 Miler, and I felt like our AR team was complete.
Running alongside giants in the ultra trail running world like Nicky Booyens and Marius van Rensburg and then chilling with them and the MacMac team at the finish was a highlight.
Thank you, Maretha, Eloff, and Frikkie. Your team is amazing.
This all wouldn't be possible without my soulmate Irish drill sargent, my mother, and my two precious angels, who miss me and are always proud of me. Thank you, my girls.
