- Hey hey, so I was into Epic the musical currently for a year, and has been thinking of making an animatic in a while. I started this when the Ocean Saga just come out but the underworld saga already come out when I finished it 😅. There’s a lot of new songs that I want to make, but I want Open Arms to be the first animatic I would make. So here we go! Hope you enjoy! I apologize if there’s so many mistakes in this animatic.
Also my design mostly inspired by Wolfy the witch.
Thank you for the amazing Jorge Rivera-Herrans for starting my obsession, and writing the song. And Steven Dookie I love your voice so much!!

Ya I found this one funny because the famous one, he jumps in with him, but this one he just shoves him XD also love how everyone collectively decided Polities has glasses

@@piperpanda6587 The glasses is because Steven has glasses (and I think also wore a headband in a couple of snippets?), and the fans tend to base their designs of the characters off of the voice actors :D

@@kittycatzukathe headband thing I think is a joke from long before epic existed, where Odysseus wears a headband. Couldn't tell you what the punchline is/what it's referencing though

It's hilarious and I'm glad that's a headcanon we have collectively agreed upon
Love how cute the lotus eaters look here and showing Polyphemes' cave in the distance at the end was a fantastic touch.

I love how the lotus eaters look like bulbasaurs and that you can tell that those are lotus on their heads. Also, the way they cover their eyes for the "stay back".They are sooo cute!
That whole cliff scene is worth the price of admission! The colors, the expressions, the wind, Polites, the camera turn, the clouds, the hug as they face the island and the cave! It is so sweet and tender, which makes it feel tragic because we know what comes next, we know what they are facing and looking towards.
Also, I'm not sure if this was what you were going for, but the act of Polites handing him the lotus fruit, while he is saying his message about greeting the world with open arms, it gives me this quality of, yes greet the world with open arms even if there are consequences and things that can go wrong. It feels like such a Polites sentiment, that even if it wasn't intentional, I like it!

@@angelgon06 you can listen to the song ''survive'' of the cyclop saga from the musical, this is where Polites dies. Polyphemus kills him basically. I recommend listening to the whole thing :)

I love this so much! I also like how stoic Odysseus looks almost the entire time, most likely because he’s been conditioned by Athena to toughen up, even around his best friend. Ohhh, another thing-I loved how he pushed the lotus fruit against Polites’ chest, as if calling him naive for even thinking of being friendly with others. (SPOILERS BELOW)
Gives it more angst for when Polites dies later on.

Yeah! He’s so stoic that even when Polites is pointing out he feels guilty he doesn’t look away or tense or anything he just doesn’t look aware. Instead he just continues staring like it’s something he can’t process what Polites is saying to him. 😭😭
Or maybe I’m looking too into it- either way I think it’s an interesting bit that intended or not is a nice detail.😁✨

I love the detail that Odyseus keeps one of the Lotus fruits for later. This animatic is amazing, we greet it with open arms.
Aw maaaan, I love how touchy your Polites and Odysseus are, how they hold hands, nudge each other, all the half-hugs... How Odysseus smiles at Polites so happily (I see Wolfy's influence and your version is just as glorious), how gently Polites offers his advice and gets listened to....AAAAAAAA
Me when I see a lotus eater getting a pat from Polites: IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME!!!!!!

OMG I love that in this version, the reason Odysseus has the lotus to help them escape the cyclops is because Polites gave it to him. Also the lotus eaters are so cute!

For your first animatic, this turned out phenomenal. I love how smooth the animation was. It looked like the characters never stopped moving. Also enjoyed Polites' cute interactions with the lotus eaters and how you portrayed Polites' and Odysseus' friendship. Well done! You've got yourself a new sub
The animation is soooooo smooth, while still feeling like an animatic. And I can definitely tell you took a lot of inspiration from Mercsi.
I love itm the art style, Lotur eaters look so cute, the little eye roll Odysseus does at at 2:34 (at least that's how I see it), and the ending. All of this is just so good.
The little tiny hug at the end got to me 😢. This is so cute!

Ooo, is this a masterpiece I see? YES YOU BET IT IS!!! I love everything about this: the colours, the facial expressions, how comfortable the movements between Polites and Odysseus are! Especially when Polites chucked Ody into the body of water, that was so neat haha. Keep up the good work! ❤❤❤

This is so well done! Excellent character expressions. You understand emotion and expression very well. Odysseus’s stoicness is subtle, he’s protective, he’s scared to loose who he cares about, he’s afraid to open up. You portrayed the subtitle very well. Also, Polities giving him the lotus was a great touch. He gave Odysseus what saves his men in the end. EXCELLENT! I look forward to seeing more of your work
