    Had my ZX9r E2 for about 10 years now. Still scares me so the Lord only knows why anyone would want anything faster. Taking it to Cadwell as a first track day on Monday.

      Nice, just got mine back on the road after changing the head gasket, spark plug gaskets etc and doing valve clearances.
      I would love to do a track day, but can't even afford the proper gear 😂
      I'm only about half an hour or so from Snetterton. Good luck and enjoy 👍

    I purchased a £3000 03 16k ZX9R 3 months ago.
    It needed all the valves shimming. Full carb rebuild, but only because it will not run on super unleaded. It still runs very lumpy on super, so I avoid it. Calipers needed sorting.
    Now it's great, been from Calais, across France to tour Belgium on it and back. 1200 miles in 4 days. I now commute and joy ride at the weekends.
    Only downside is it's very easy to go too fast on! 😂

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice mate, I'm surprised it effected what fuel it liked, always used super in mine, before and after the mods I've done. I do want my valve clearances done and either reset the cam chain tensioner or a new one as its now gone over 22k miles, got it at 16k and not sure it's been done.
      Yea you're right there, very easy to go fast 😂

    Iv'e had all manner of sports bikes including four new GSXR's , ZX6's and dozens of others. Bought my first ZX9 C2 model about four years ago after selling my FZ8 and just fell in love with it, fantastic bike , wish I had bought them when they were new instead of others. Last august I bought a 5,600 mile F2P in standard mint condition and have to say it is THE best bike I have ever owned, even better than my 2011 GSXR 750 which I bought new and I really liked that.

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider  ปีที่แล้ว

      They really are awesome bikes, very underrated by people who didn't, and don't give them a chance, they'd be very surprised at how good they are, power figures mean nothing alone, these are brutal when you let them be and keep with modern bikes no problem.
      I love hearing people who have experienced more bikes than me say they are the best they've ever owned, especially over some much newer bikes that I know are very good bikes still. ZX12r owners always say get a 12r, I'm like no way, the 9r is better looking imo (12's still look great though), they are a better all round bike, a fraction of a second quicker over the 1/4mile and much cheaper to run
      I'd really love to save and get a stock low mileage F2, but the only thing I don't like about the later two models is that they didn't do them in the same colours and design as mine.
      Don't get me wrong, they still look awesome in the liveries and colours they do have, but imo the lightning blue and violet is the best looking, and the E model livery the best design they done.
      thanks for watching bud, ride safe and keep enjoying the awesome ZX9r's

      Hello and welcome. If I could be of any help, I'd be grateful. My first honda vfr 800 fi motorcycle. Now I have zx9 r 2000 in original. The bike is active but I'm constantly thinking about something else. Or the gsxr 750, 1000 k5 itself. Or zx 10 . Possibly R1 or cbr 1000. But most over zx 10 2 gen or zx 12 since 2004. you stated that zx 9 is the best. Maybe if you could elaborate on this for me. Thanks greetings

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marcinpionke9052 The ZX9r is lighter, better looking and slightly quicker (even the heavier model C1/2 ZX9r was quicker, was the first production bike to do the quarter under ten secs, 9.9sec @ 136mph, the 12r can't do that). The ZX12r is very quick still of course, and obvs has a higher top speed than the ZX9r, but it costs much more to run, and imo due to those reasons, overall the ZX9r is the better bike.

      @@marcinpionke9052 Even I could go and change info on that page, so wiki is not a reliable source of information.
      The stated 0-60 time was 2.96 secs, but the quarter mile time was stated to be 10.23 seconds. Either way they are very close still, only fractions of a second in it, so can depend on riders reaction time as to which is quicker.
      But ultimately the ZX9r is the better bike all round imo, even if the 12r was quicker over the quarter mile. As said the later ZX9r's are even better than the C models of 98-99, lighter, better looking (than the earlier ZX9r and the ZX12r) and cheaper to run than the 12r by a lot. Aesthetics are obviously subjective, so choose what you prefer if money is no issue 👍

    Great video. I love the zx9r. I've had my 2003 zx9rf2p on an 04 plate for over 6 years now and It's brilliant . It always starts and goes like a rocket . 32000mls I've spent £2000 on repainting the swing arm, folklegs,wheels and this and that to bring it up to a mint standard.

I got really lucky with mine, the wheels were newly painted, with new tyres brake disks and pads, chain and sprocket, and I have the original blue wheels too, but not in great nock. My swingarm could do with a fresh coat of paint really, but not too bothered at the moment, maybe a job for me to do next year, I refurbed my old bikes swingarm so have experience with it too 😎

    Yes one of the best ZX6/9r reviews ever 🤣 I have to say having owned a few Kawas I've never known that they were particularly more difficult to ride. You're right about bikes and everything going up. I'm waiting for parts they've even been putting the price up on them as they wait for the stock and getting stock is also taking ages, it's ridiculous.

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your new least favourite motovlogger, Brian636 hasn't got the skill to be this bad 😂
      Yea prices are ridiculous, I don't understand why some OEM parts are so expensive anyway, especially when you can buy good alternatives at a fraction of the cost.
      I can't even get a tank for mine though, new or second hand, unless I want a green or red one, and new they are close to a grand. I'm going to see if someone thinks they can fix mine, but not sure they could, and colour matching will be tough with this bike.

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! It is easy enough, you'll need the instrument cluster bracket from the F models, may need to grind the main mounting holes a little to get them to fit as I did, only about 1mm. But the whole front end comes off in one piece, a bit fidldly, on your own, but I managed it. Definitely worth doing makes the bike look more modern. Good luck with it.

    I'm looking at a 2000 ZX-9 with 31k. Seems to be in good shape, but I'm not sure about the carburetor. I live at almost 7,000 foot elevation. Any suggestions?

    • @HalfdeadRider
      @HalfdeadRider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are getting the bike from a lower altitude you will need to adjust the fueling, making the mixture leaner I believe (more air, less fuel). If it has not got one, maybe consider fitting a performance air filter first so you get more air in that way, a bit less adjustment will be needed on the pilot jets then I would think.
      That's about all I can suggest as I have not had to deal with altitude differences myself.

This as a 1000 retro with all the aids, or what about a zxr750/1000 h2 stylie? or the 400 in this 6r/9rstylie? The new 400 is nice but it looks the same as o many other models in their range.
