once you start seeing the world through skater's eyes you'll never see it the the same again. I haven't skated for more than 10 years but still see constantly spots
I can totally relate to landing a trick, i started learning to skateboard again myself, and I was kinda proud when I jumped on my board, even if it’s nothing to others.
Should've skated through the injury, I skated through my literal snapped arm. Arm injuries are not bad enough to stop you from skating, it's when you break ankles and legs that makes a difference.
I sustained a (t)raumatic (b)rain (i)njury two days after Christmas back in 2004-also acquired a seizure disorder(petite mal) if I get too hot... I used to skate EVERYWHERE to & from. it is one of the abilities I took for granted prior to my injury.-what I am trying to convey is NEVER take your gifts for granted.Whenever I see a much younger guy learning to ride a board, I offer them words of encouragement -You can tell by their initial reactions if it is appreciated & taken to heart. Build them up, NEVER tear them down.!!!
I once got kicked out of a SKATEPARK because there were to many kids running around and not even having anything to ride. Another time i was kicked out of a public park while carrying my skateboard through it.
What about the battle to get a new trick you have been trying for awhile That’s definitely something only skaters will know and know well But there’s no other feeling in the world of when you finally get that new trick you have been trying for awhile Also what about the feeling of landing bolts when doing a trick Such an amazing buttery feeling that is so satisfying for skaters
I feel almost all of the things mentioned in this video apply to many other extreme sports out there (surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, BMX etc...). In all these sports, travelling, landing tricks, filming video parts , checking out spots to ride that are otherwise mundane, wearing dirty clothes, etc... all apply to many extreme sports.
2:20 This part where he explains how certain things can put skaters into a skateboarding mode I can relate to. I do not skateboard myself but I need to start, but I do Fingerboard and something called parkour. You probably already know what that is I'm just saying. Parkour is a sport of running, jumping, climbing, and vaulting over obstacles. I get into this mode when I see certain things that look like I can get a good line on. Like how skateboarders see rails, stair sets and ledges that puts them into some kind of skateboarding mode.
I tried skateboarding as a teen and sadly never got even good enough to Ollie...but I could pull off a few simple little tricks and learned how to get my trucks exactly how I like them. Anyway, I may come off as a poser, but after watching this video and full on knowing what's up in each segment, it just proved to me that I truly am a skater at heart.
I was watching a childrens clothes comertial and there was this shot in front of a staircase that looked PERFECT. and when i say that when i saw it i literally yelled out "THATS SO SKATABLE. "
for number 2 this happens with fingerboarding too if im walking and see a spot my freinds will be so cunfused when i tell them to spot so i can get a few tricks
Yo I just got a really nice Enjoi for a little over 100 or so off Skate Warehouse. “I would’ve shopped local if it was an option”. I have a nice one from Girl and Almost too, I would def recommend any of those three. Keep in mind these are just my preferences though.
Yeaaaaaa watches Skate videos LOL this the first thing I’m watching this morning! And yes nothing beats the sound of a big STOMP it’s most satisfying sound ever too! Scouting skate spots is addicting and being a skater it’s weird because all them years I thought oh that’s just stairs or a curb.
i dont skate but i want to start. but i can relate to #2 (looking at city scapes) bc i am a rock climber and i do a lot of buildering (climbing buildings) alot and it is really fun but you get security called alot. edit actualy as a rock climber i can realt to many of these. also i want to start skatng any tips?
Another thing is bailing. That feeling you get right before you have to "pull the ejector seat," that's probably the worst feeling you can have tbh. Before you figure out how to brake and you're bailing every time, that's a deal-breaker for some.
A snack to bring skateboarding it is called a babybell I know it sounds like something you would put in your kids lunch but it’s basically one of those cheese wheels but bite sized and then they’re also covered in wax so you can use the wax for rails perfect snack for skateboarding
Dood scanning for skates spots is crazy... I, for all honestly, don't skate that much anymore due to needing to not get injured because work.... butttt... Every time I'm in Philly, I constantly still look at spots solely by how good they would be to skate. It's just a natural first thought that stuck forever. Lol Oh! Love Park was my life for a while before they completely rebuilt it. But the good old love park was my spot. + FDR Park as a bonus spot(though it is more a skate park then just a spot these days)
I’m not a skater, but I am a scooter rider and I do do a little bit of skateboarding so I can name some of the spots not off the top of my head, but I recognize them
What makes a skate spot is vision ive skated shit id never think of just cause my homie had idea u can ollie tht bench u can grind this u can jump this n tht n the 3rd places ive never thought was skatable but had sidewalks or legdes to execute the vision having skate group really help but even alone i think n look at stuff ik my board is dying to skate
Claim: There is more juggling lingo than skateboarding lingo. Evidence #1: Siteswaps, a siteswap is a juggling trick in a certain category of the math language of juggling, for example: 441, 7441, DB97531. ZXVTRPNLJHFDB97531 is an eighteen ball siteswap that is most likely impossible. Evidence #2: The math language of juggling, juggling's math language is made up of every possible throw, 1 means pass to the other hand, 2 means hold it still, 3 means throw it across to the other hand in the shape of a cascade, 4 means throw it upward and catch it in the same hand, 5 is 3 but higher, 6 is 4 but higher, 7 is 5 but higher, 8 is 6 but higher, 9 is 7 but higher A is 8 but higher, B is 9 but higher, C is 10 but higher, D is 11 but higher, and so on. Evidence #3: Juggler code, juggler code is used very often when two or more people are practicing together, some examples are: One more time, this never means actually one more time it more like means "ok were doing this until we get it" some other examples are shower, box, mills, multiplex, pass, double, helicopter throw, triple, and game of throws. Conclusion: There is by far more lingo in juggling than there is in skateboarding.
As a scooter rider here we can both agree on when you wake up early in the morning to go ride your skateboard or your scooter and it’s pouring outside and it been raining the 4 days

I think Martial artists get hurt a lot More than skaters
I skated when I was 13-17....now I am 39 and I still scan the environment for it's "skatability!
once you start seeing the world through skater's eyes you'll never see it the the same again. I haven't skated for more than 10 years but still see constantly spots
I can totally relate to landing a trick, i started learning to skateboard again myself, and I was kinda proud when I jumped on my board, even if it’s nothing to others.
also I kinda gave up skateboarding in 2021 cause I fell hard on my left arm and broke it, that’s why I felt a bit of joy.
I accidentally said I broke my arm, I actually just sprained it, sorry for the mistake.
Same bro

to me it's the feeling after you actually get the new trick down. the: "well that's easy now wth"
As someone who does freerunning I understand all of these
Sameeee
Most of these are applicable to other hobbies such as free running or speedrunning, aside from maybe the smacking ones board on the ground.
@@SweetSweetDread3962 I often go to places with skaters as such I know some of the skating culture

Yeah that's true but I think some are stronger in skating than in other sports.
(this comes from a not skater)

Your dogs spoiled 😂
Aight I gotchu 👍
i noticed that almost the whole list also applies to parkour! pretty cool how two super different sports are so similar in the weirdest ways lol
I couldn’t imagine breaking my board.😮
Really

If it's your first one understandable but u only have to buy a new deck and grip

I just syarted learning hesterday and ive started to be able to actualy move on it and im kinda proud of myself tbh
As a new skater myself I know what’s it’s like to land a new trick it’s satisfying
I was watching a childrens clothes comertial and there was this shot in front of a staircase that looked PERFECT. and when i say that when i saw it i literally yelled out "THATS SO SKATABLE. "
Always subconsciously observing the train for skate spots is so true and I love it!
The feeling is the same for gaming fingerboarding and even parkour honestly the best feeling
0:05 was at my local
I can relate even if i dont skateboard most of these can also be related to parkour/free running (i know there not the same I just do both
#2 isnt just exclusive to skaters, as a bmxer myself a little bump in the sidewalk could be the perfect place for jumps
The thing is, even if you cant skate a skate spot, you still love it
for number 2 this happens with fingerboarding too if im walking and see a spot my freinds will be so cunfused when i tell them to spot so i can get a few tricks
What skateboard completes would you guys recommend?

Seriously bruh, the first few times i landed a legit ollie while riding felt frikkin amazing...such a basic trick but sooo satisfying
Key for anyone not just skaters- stay calm around law enforcement, there is no need to panic. Chill out, they are still people too.
I fell hard today in Amsterdam this vid makers me happy

as a BMX er and a fingerboarder i can relate to basically all of them🤣😅
fingerboarder 😹😹 don’t even come close to real skating
Get on a real board bro. It'll change your life
finger boarding is not skating bro lol what?
Another thing is bailing. That feeling you get right before you have to "pull the ejector seat," that's probably the worst feeling you can have tbh. Before you figure out how to brake and you're bailing every time, that's a deal-breaker for some.

Skateboarding isn't hurting anyone, and skaters are just doing what they like

To many of those spots are gone now but call bad will forever a place to visit in my dreams. Rip Carl's bad gap.
Where should I go to get a skateboard as a person who wants to go into skate boarding online I don’t want to drive to someplace and waste money on gas
nope Frerunner do Travel to ONLY to find new spots . but still cool Video
btw most of the things does also make sense by Frerunners
This was posted on my birthday when I asked for a skateboard…

Saw the sunset car wash 30 years ago, I knew it was good for more than clean cars!
this applies to scootering rollerblading an parkour as someone who dose Theas and skates

There is honestly no better feeling than landing a trick
1:40 nailing a song on an instrument. (I play the ukulele)
I feel like all of these (except slapping the board on the ground) are also relatable to parkour people.
I know I’m old but the last one is that yellow car blocking thingy😂
HES BACKK!!!!
#2 is relatable for bmx riders as well
I think every skateboarder hates rocks because it's not
because you did something

I’m a rollerblader not a skater but I still understand landing a trick

i think parkour and skateboarding have so much in common
As a scooter rider i can totally relate 😂
I do skate I am just very new so I do not know any of the names of the spots
Every skater knows how much steps every stair in their city has. Which is quite odd if you don’t skate
i never skated on a parking block but it must be so fun

You can replace the word skating with mountain biking in everything you said and it would fit.

A good one is adrenaline no mader how hard you try being a stake park going fast and getting air you basically feel normal with adrenaline
I'm a skater but I have never seen someone go that fast on a skateboard bro went faster than my skate3 speed glitches.
