Madam you're the best, am from Sri Lanka, all this time until now I saw this today I had not been able to understand hybridization at all but you made me have a clear idea about it just within 3 minutes and am so happy, thank you very much and I wish you all the best and I wish to see more of your teaching videos, may god bless you
Dear Komali mam, I have not been with you till now... but in my mind i have a great respect and gratitude for you and hear your voice daily and that gives me the actual motivation and strength to move ahed.
Mam I have another method. In case of SO3^-2 count the valence electrons in each atom (S=6, O=6*3)and add the charge if it is anion or substract if it is cation. Then in case of the above sample we get no of electrons as 26 divide it by 8 and we get quotient as 3 and the remainder 2. Divide the remainder by 2, this will give u the no of lone pairs and the quotient will give u no of bond pairs. Adding the quotient and the divided remainder we get the hybridisation ( in above eg as 3 bond pairs and 1 lone pair=4=sp3). But if H is present use the valence electrons as 7.
Excuse me can u please make video on how to find a shape of molecule using Lone pair.. Pls mam it's urgent neet exam on this Sunday I request u to please help me....im ur sincere student.. Ur teaching is awesome and very attractive
Mam what to do if + charge comes instead of - charge? Should we reduce 1 electron? Pls reply mam. Thanks for such a helpful video and u r the greatest teacher that I have found for chemistry
Thanks a trillion mam...😊😊 Before I have trouble in this topic...but after seeing your video it's crystal clear to me...Thanks a lot mam...God bless you man😊😊😊😍
Mam I have one doubt in OF2 Molecule how many lone pair of electrons In this method there is no exact ans in this molecule Please tell me mam And this video very help full tq
I would like to let you know that the method explained in this video is to find out Hybridisation of a molecule. And to find out hybridization we consider Lone pairs and Bond pairs of central atom only. Now your Question is : How many bond pairs and lone pairs of electron are present in OF2 molecule? See, Here the question is not to find out hybridization instead it asks for the total number of electron pairs in the whole molecule. so you have to consider not only the central atom but also the two Flourine atom. No. of bond pairs on Oxygen atom = 2 (for 2 O- F bonds) No. of Lone pair on oxygen atom = 1 ( out of 6 valence e of oxygen, 2 e bonds with each F atom [2 bp] then remaining 4 forms 2 pairs ie 2 Lone Pairs] Look this is for central atom only. As the question is total lone pairs, we have consider lone pair on each flurine atoms also. Out of 7 valance electrons of Flurine atom, 1 bonds with oxygen ( as above mentioned.) The remaining 6 forms 3 Pairs (Lone Pairs) Thus each flurine gets 3 lone pairs. therefore Total Lone pairs on OF2 molecule in total = LP on O + LP on F1 + LP on F2 = 2+3+3 = 8 Thus OF2 has 2 bone pairs and 8 lone pairs in total. This is the way. Thank You

Mam I have one doubt in OF2 Molecule how many lone pair of electrons
In this method there is no exact ans in this molecule
Please tell me mam
And this video very help full tq
I would like to let you know that the method explained in this video is to find out Hybridisation of a molecule. And to find out hybridization we consider Lone pairs and Bond pairs of central atom only. Now your Question is :
How many bond pairs and lone pairs of electron are present in OF2 molecule?
See, Here the question is not to find out hybridization instead it asks for the total number of electron pairs in the whole molecule. so you have to consider not only the central atom but also the two Flourine atom.
No. of bond pairs on Oxygen atom = 2 (for 2 O- F bonds)
No. of Lone pair on oxygen atom = 1 ( out of 6 valence e of oxygen, 2 e bonds with each F atom [2 bp] then remaining 4 forms 2 pairs ie 2 Lone Pairs] Look this is for central atom only.
As the question is total lone pairs, we have consider lone pair on each flurine atoms also.
Out of 7 valance electrons of Flurine atom, 1 bonds with oxygen ( as above mentioned.) The remaining 6 forms 3 Pairs (Lone Pairs) Thus each flurine gets 3 lone pairs.
therefore Total Lone pairs on OF2 molecule in total = LP on O + LP on F1 + LP on F2
= 2+3+3 = 8
Thus OF2 has 2 bone pairs and 8 lone pairs in total.
This is the way. Thank You
