Everybody has been saying they need to see Tua step up in big moments…..the last drive with no timeouts was exactly that. With no timeouts and under a minute, Tua stepped up and made the plays to get us tied up and set up to win the game in OT
The last drive of the first half and the last of the second half. Those were the clutch moments, and he did what needed to get done. Contrast that with the last 2 minutes of the Titans game last year.
Also from now on whenever someone says the offensive line isn’t affecting the pass game just show the OT touchdown to Jonnu. Bc Tua is actually surgical when given time in the pocket. Same like 2021-22 when they had Hunt, Williams and Wynn starting inside. Tua could sit back , survey , set his feet more traditionally and drop it in a bucket.
Do you remember when Tua started playing for us and people would always say that he needed to learn the difference between college open and NFL open? Now he’s like the master of lasering tight window throws.
That was a BS argument, anyways. He was always layering passes into tight windows at Bama. He just had to get on the same page with the receivers and get them used to the ball coming at them when they come out of their breaks.....plus he didnt even have NFL receivers when he first got here
Paul/ Jackson/ Brewer adding two guards this off season should be top PRIORITY! Take Armstead's money and get one in free agency. Move up in the 1st for the 2nd guard.
I can't fault Paul in the Hill end around. Number 26 was not his primary block. He saw him coming and tried to get to him but was a little late on a secondary responsibility
Hey Doug you asked what we think, I was at the game and had a good view of this play and it looked like a nice PBU against Tyreek. He hit him at the perfect time, I could see any good receiver dropping that 9/10 times.
The issue with the Guards Doug is that they are just not athletic enough to get out in space that’s why they always look like they are missing their assignments. Lmaooo. Great breakdown as usual King 💯🥂
16:36 I believe this match zone with Ramsey on a deep zone with power and fuller being the 3 deep zones kohu on a flat zone and Holland on a mid zone next to one of the linebacker and the other liner backer on a flat too
Doug, your commentary about the end around play is a little off. The ball carrier can help the offensive line block downfield by cutting back inside. It's called reading his blocks that was not a good example of bad o-line play, it was a good example of a ball carrier not reading his blocks.
On the Patrick Paul block on the Hill run. That's not a missed block by Paul. You can't expect an OT to make that block on that CB. That CB was running at full speed and there was too much distance for Paul to cover.
5:38 That play is really more Achane's fault to me. HUGE gap in the middle, yet the guy ALWAYS want to go outside. O-Line is not great; however, I agree with Omar Kelly, Achane does not read lanes as good as Mostert.
Nice breakdown but there’s no universe where a 330 lb OT outruns a 180 lb CB. I love cheetah but he should have cut back at some point, then Paul might have been in better position to make a block.
He's not throwing to Odell because he's been Captain butterfingers all season. He's not throwing to Odell because he's been Captain butterfingers all season.
Tua has been playing good/great football vs good teams but the team as a whole hasn’t we normally play better in warm weather so we’ll probably win vs Houston and San Francisco and our last test although not great teams are Cleveland and jets
From what I see in the film, the blocking schemes are poor. Players blocking assignments often have them mismatched, size for size, against the opposing team. Like seeing a tight-end trying to block a defensive tackle one on one or an offensive tackle trying to block a defensive back one on one when the two players could/should swap assignments. Players are more interested in getting to their assigned block overlooking the more obvious block that made the difference. Players whiffing over and over on blocks is crazy. The Guards on pass plays when they are free are always taking the outside player (even when the outside defender is being well guarded by the tackle) instead of blocking to the inside where a stunt is coming through. Another reason why stunts are getting through is because our Center is the worst of all of our lineman. He whiffs on so many blocks, he misses assignments, he gets pushed all over, and sometimes cant seem to figure out who he is supposed to block. The left guard seems a little worse than the right guard but both get pushed around and miss and whiff on numerous blocking assignments. I actually am liking Patrick Paul and I need to watch more film on our right tackle, but nothing too bad stood out so far. In summary, I think we need a much better Center and the Guards could seriously be upgraded. Most of all though, these plays have poor blocking schemes and are often times putting average guards and a poor center in situations that could be a lot better by simply blocking the play differently.
The offense is adequate. This defense though is our Achilles. That said can we spend a #2 on a " true center"??? You can usually get the best center in the draft with a #2. I'm tired of us converting guards and watching bad snaps!!
Watch the Robert Jones play (third play i think) again Doug. I don't disagree with you in total our guard/OL play is not good enough, but the Jets (suck) player runs away from him, he didn't block him because he could not catch him. Remember you are playing against people and not dummies, they are trying to get to the ball carrier. Sorry Doug but that was just a good play by the Jets defender. Same with the play after with Patrick Paul, you are asking someone to block a player but the player is not in reach of the Dolphins player.
Holland needs to disguise his robber role better in that Adams kohou busted coverage. Letting Rodgers see it so soon and so obvious is redicilous. Holland doesn't deserve the bag he wants
That robert jones play is soooo bad. Smythe has the angle on his guy so jones has no reason to stop and help. Jones has the angle on his guy and gives it up for no reason. So so so bad
27:03 they are in bail cover 3 and Ramsey is going against a 2 by 2 WR set. You realize if he jams the vertical by number is wide open. You have to know coverage rules if you going to do these breakdown man. This coverage, it literally giving up short outs but protecting the short middle and outside vertical routes. I respect your channel but you have to increase your football knowledge if you going to do these.
How do these guys do not know on these bail outs safety and corner wise when they know they are sending a blitzer???? Press the recievers for the love of God.
The Tyreek drop on the 3rd and 1 was on Tua. Unlike the catch that Tyreek made, the one he dropped, Tua didn't throw it before Tyreek came out of his break. Love your work Doug... Jersey Phinz4Lyfe.💪🏾👈🏾
It hit him in his hands, that's on hill 100%. Can't make excuses when it hits them in the hands. Hill has had a lot of bad drops at really bad times last year and this year. Dropped touchdowns that would win us the game, easy first down catches tar bounce off his hands, he's been not great
@imdonewithyall I agree that once a ball hit your hands, you should catch it. Yes Reek has dropped key balls at key times. You're not going to get an argument out of me there. But the focus of conversation was why couldn't Tyreek catch that ball like he did the one HE dropped. And when I looked, I saw Tua throwing the pass he (Tyreek) caught before Hills break, and the one he dropped wasn't.

I'm not fan of our Oline but blocking in space is one of the hardest thing you can ask them to do.
Holland is playing to avoid contact and injury, it's obvious. He got himself blocked so he didn't have to tackle.
Holland has been playing for a contract for another team. It’s evident.
Maybe, teams studying his tape will without a doubt see that.

That Paul block 8 yards down field wasn’t going to happen without a block in the back. That CB was going full speed across the field
Glad the defense woke up at the end , but the way they’ve been playing is concerning
Ramsey looked disinterested
28:13 I think he thought Adams was going to go around the blocker's back to the sideline and by engaging he would free up Ramsey to blow him up.
