That’s how it was in ours too. It really is a universal experience in scouts. We had at least one guy who had his tent set on fire, and we had more than one attempted drowning, then go back to the regularly scheduled and act like nothing happened
Yep. Scouts was boring AF, but then at the big campout shit hit the fan. Some kids got hurt in a rock fight, one guy was suicidal, and the scoutmasters caught the older scouts playing soggy biscuit in the showers

A couple of things to note: They are not selective with their hiring it's that you automatically get turned down if you don't lie on the employee personally test. They basically ask you "Hey are you willing to treat the corporation like a family member and pretend it's more important than your life?" I assume a lot of people answer truthfully and therefore don't get hired. Once you're past that they don't have standards. Secondly i worked in a Sam's club for a year and half back in 2015 and even as a teenager I was like idk these anti union videos feel pretty iffy. Due to covid i was forced to apply to a walmart last year and idk what happened but they don't play those anti-union videos anymore, at least not in California as far as I know. I still wouldn't advise openly talking about them though.
I guess they are trying to not look anti-union for the moment. Especially in California, as far as I have heard, they are really tightening the screws on corporations being openly anti-union. I mean they still are, but just like with racism, now it will take the form of soft language.

We had morning meetings with loud music and chanting to "hype ourselves up" before going out to do our shifts. It felt like a pretty explicit way to strip people of their spirit and own being by drowning out thoughts with loud droning music and forcing everyone to move in unison together. Didn't help that they had a lot of speeches about cutting people who don't believe in your worth (as a salesperson) out of your life as soon as they question this path to success laid in front of you. I didn't stay there for long.
This dance is part of the reason Walmart failed in Germany and neve came back. The unions there wouldn't let them have it. Also the cashier being forced to smile unnerved German customers.

I worked best buy for a year and I intentionally played super dumb for most of my time working there so they'd keep me on checkout instead of customer service because that looked like hell. I had a terrible attach rate on everything because I felt bad about selling useless shit to people or fucking their credit. I ended up quitting because I just couldn't stand having 6 managers who *all* would take turns coming by to give me "coaching" on how to improve my attach rate. I've worked jobs where I spent every single shift cleaning up piles of shit (pet store) and it was so much better then working there.
