We'll have to wait a little longer till BATTLEBOTS FACEOFFS is available in the TH-cam channel. Can't wait if the Gellatly Couple is in-charge taking the footage for BATTLEBOTS FACEOFFS Week 4.
Battlebots is probably gonna call him a rookie but I'd like to remind everyone that Manta has won 2 Robogames Heavyweight competitions. More than Minotaur (Touro Maximus), More than Tombstone (Last Rites), but still less than Gary Gin. Thankyou for using the term "Newcomer", it's at least more accurate to what Manta actually is.
With ICEWave gone Manta officially has the scariest sounding weapon at Battlebots. Can't wait for this thing to tear thru its bracket like wet tissue paper, sorry Rusty :c
These takeovers are interesting and such a good gesture. Whatever the outcome of the battles will be, Skorpios is the winner of the Giant Nut of Hospitality
The new Rusty looks like a champ but I gotta say Manta looks like they are gonna have a hard time because of their clearance issues. If that tinfoil looking scoop-wedge they have in the front gets bent then they will get slammed pretty easily. Good luck to all of them though, as in life anything could happen!
I think the opposite is true for Rusty. I don't understand why the builder decided to make an already non competitive robot ten times more complex, harder to repair and weaker. Did you see that hammer "speed"? Previous Rusty looks like a powerhouse in comparison. Why go for an internal combustion engine power?! On a HAMMER BOT on top of that?!?!? Makes no sense. Rusty should have simply ditched the threads, kept the all electric power system, added an interchangeable plow/forks front system and it'd already been much better and stronger. If you want to do a gas powered Rusty, do it for exibitions like the turbine powered Hellfire.
@@olisk-jy9rz An ICE-powered build is very cool though and rare to see in this day and age. Not everything has to be hyper-competitive, no one wants to see a field of 50+ 4WD vert spinners. Rusty's hammer looks like it's designed to break spinners by feeding its weapon into belts, chains, etc. and jamming them up. Questionable how successful that strategy is with the build quality and redundancies of current bots, but Rusty Sr.'s weapon almost did exactly that to Copperhead and also disabled OG Kraken's crusher.
@@wristofkings Ok. But here we aren't talking about "hyper" competitive, we are talking about a bot which was already completely non-competitive and struggled to work as it was. That's why it doesn't make sense to make it even weaker and harder to maintain for a 1 man team.
@@olisk-jy9rzAgree that I don't see the advantages from a logistical standpoint either given that he couldn't get it working for two seasons in a row, but respect that he pushed himself trying to build something different and for some builders that challenge is the whole point.
@@olisk-jy9rz how so? Didn't copperhead tried that? Doesn't sound so easy now does it? Now to mention HUGE could adjust the bar length (as he did in the gigabyte fight) to only hit manta top, which might make it harder for manta to hit HUGE weapon directly
@@jonathanf2392 Copperhead was already almost destroyed from the Riptide fight, AND they spun their drum downward which was a BIG mistake. Go check out waht Riptide did to Huge. Manta's drum is even more powerful.
If battlebots wants the arena floor to be really flat, they can let manta run for an hour around in it. Just implement an old style roomba like random algorithm. Result: super smooth floor! 🤣
@@bami2 My understanding is that with a couple hits they mangled Minotaur's top plate so badly it had to be cut off. Traves T may look like a silly garage build but that weapon demands respect.
That's kinda the point, to be underestimated, thought of as a joke bot. But that weapon is no joke. Traves T us undefeated in fights where its weapon lasted the full time, and its spinner was even giving Minotaur trouble for a while. So much trouble that after the fight Minotaur's top plate had to be cut off since it couldn't be removed normally. And that’s Minotaur, one of the most durable bots in the competition. So Traves T is surprisingly really good.

Thanks for letting us takeover!
Our pleasure!
Oh BOY! I am so excited to see Manta wreak havoc in the BATTLEBOTS FACEOFFS Week 3. Looking forward to see the INSANE fights.
Thanks for doing this, Nick!
Your bot is gonna rival Minotaur in the noise of the weapon. The hum from Manta is amazing.

It’s a battlebots rookie at least
@@what-fw5vk It went to battlebots proving grounds and fought triton though....

Trying to design a look a like to manta in the 1lbs antweight class! Got all my SCAR kit parts in, just need to finish the design!
I'm trying the same except with hypershock
The sound of that weapon spinning up during the test was legitimately scary.
9:11 Hellfire looks very improved

Manta is the epitome of the Battlebots meta
The manta ray flew away 😱😂
Manta might win rookie of the year award in s8, only if it lives up to potential. Not sure what he'll do against HUGE
I'd imagine the goal of huge would be to be a HUGE problem for a lot of teams. Could see that that being the case for manta

Just run straight trough Huge. Manta's drum would win any exhange against Huge's spinner, breaking it.

Nick honestly a great speaker
Oh god, this monster. I feel that Manta is going to at least make it to the semi finals.
Awesome stuff!
Can you imagine Manta fighting:
Riptide
Minotour
Endgame
Ripperone
Copperhead
I would kill for these fights

So far, every robot that's been named Manta has been great

Minotaur easily
