The Good of the Land assalamualaikum hy. I'm sory my name is azrul im from indonesia, i so very intresting. Im blacksmith in indonesia. But i dont have job now, can i work in you place. Im sory my english is bad
The water mill in the background ... just a dream! The old machines were still built for eternity, nice that there are still people who keep them up! Thank for the video
That is SO AWESOME you are able to help that museum restore their Blacksmith Shop! I wish I was closer, I would LOVE to see an exhibition like that! God Bless you for helping keep the old trades alive!
Nothing better than getting old machines up and running, and what's better than a power hammer!! Glad I found the channel, looking forward to seeing more videos.
Very cool that you stepped up to restore all of their equipment. Not a surprise at all to see that power hammer come back to life, they built stuff to last back then. Good job!!
It was truly a pleasure to see those vintage tools being put back into service. I am looking forward for part 2 to see these vintage tools actually working. Thanks for the restoration video gentleman..
You it the nail right on the head when you said you had enough going on, but restoring tools like that is a very rare opportunity, I am so jealous! Good for you brother! Thank you for at least sharing it with us, keep up the great work, love what you do! God Bless!!!
Wow! This is going to be really great! The close up of that anvil at 1:35 - that thing looks like it has been to war. Please keep us in the loop on all the restoration work.
He passed away while i was stationed in Japan on the USS O'BRIEN DDG-975. I missed all funerals for 20 years and stopped going when relatives did not want me at Family Funerals.I missed my own dads. because of relatives
This would be a dream for me. I live in a town that used to be a resort town. At its peak it had 2000 residents now there are about 20. Someday I would live to build a blacksmith shop in town with orginal equipment like this power hammer.
Really enjoy your videos. I recently learned about TH-cam just found your channel, by accident about a month ago. I'm always learning something. I am a disabled vet and built my own forge from an old bbq grille. Like what you do. Love your philosophy!
+Hand Tool Rescue I could literally watch you do it all day! Love your vids! Yesterday we found a powered hacksaw tucked away in the back of the the blacksmith shop. I immediately thought of you!
Haha, you already do that.. Hence the reason I'm subscribed to your channel too. And @thegoodoftheland is right, I come across antique tools and my immediate reaction is to send it to you.
Fantastic - there is nothing wrong with being a man of many vices! Good to see history restored and used as it was intended. That is an awesome mill and I am looking forward to the restoration vids! Thank you for sharing.
For rusted and seized machines, use a 50/50 mixture of acetone and automatic transmission fluid. Also get a Locknlube attachment for the grease gun. These two suggestions will make the job a lot easier.
The Good of the Land Can't wait! I've got a small brake rotor forge and a trailer n track anvil. Haven't used it in quite some time due to work though.
The Good of the Land I made some build videos of it! Haha. I've got three days off from work so maybe I'll try to fire it up. Didn't have much luck last time.
The Good of the Land David is correct. There's a community of people at vintagemachinery.org and owwm.org who restore old machines, and that's the name that's used to refer to old cast iron.
Read most of the comments seems everyone is happy to see you restore this place, same here. Get yourself some safety squints and hearing protection, that way when you are older you will both see and hear the grandkids. Love the vids.
Thank you Good of the Land, Have to say, I have been slowly collecting my own Blacksmith tools. LOVE and Enjoyed this one. Wish I was close I would come out for just the fun of helping and learning. God Bless Ya. Keep these coming.
+Perry Denman I have been searching for a good anvil at a reasonable price for years with no success. I feel vert fortunate to have been asked to help restore this shop. What man in his right mind would say no! There will be more to come!
+warren michael we just got to talking and one thing led to another. I think the main reason they chose me was my lifestyle and the appreation I had for their collection. We had the same goals of refurbishment without full restoration and I have a background in restoration.
I have a friend that just gave me a nice junk of rail, it is something to start with. Now I am looking for some tongs. I restored my Blacksmith hammer I purchased at antique mall for $6.50, Handle cost me $3:95. SO Slow steps for now. Thanks for the inspiration, actually more like an answer from Prayer.
I just found your channel. Great job on getting the machines going again. I too are from the Tyler/Longview area. I’ve driven past that place at least 20 times in the past year. And just wished I had half of the tools in my shop that I could see from Hwy 69
Just happened onto your utube channel. Great video - It's good to see young guys get interested or more than interested in old arn. At your rate of accomplishment you'll have the smithy up and running quick as can be. You're doing a bang up job. That power hammer will extend your smithing productivity like nothing else. Thanks for sharing with the community.
Perhaps this will help. There are also other Videos on this power power hammer but it never received a full resto. This one however did. Thanks for watching. th-cam.com/video/Bw-CpPhp6Xk/w-d-xo.html
Brilliant video and an excellent job getting that hammer up and ready to go again after so many years of disuse. No matter how much you have on your plate,, there has to still be time for a magical place like that, where dreams aren't just created, they're forged into harsh reality from fire and water and iron and steel! :)
This is my first visit to this channel. You got my thumb up when you asked to cue up Barry White. That power hammer was a tough bit of work but fun to watch!
1/2 automatic transmission and 1/2 acetone makes great cheap penetrating oil and I have seen a test that concluded it works better than the store bought products. You have some great tools there to start with.
I can't wait to see more. blacksmithing is something I love as much as old tools and to bring that powerhammer back is something I love to see. I watch all your videos thank you for sharing but I don't farm so I can't always apply the knowledge you share but I appreciate learning from them regardless of content.
+Jesse Voidswarranties Wow! THANKS Jesse. I'm going to be making alot of videos at Old Mill Pond. They Have tons of old machines that need restored. It should be interesting.
I really enjoy your videos, very descriptive and inviting for staying tuned for more content you are doing a good thing bringing back history as you are
Deepcreep is my secret weapon on the job (automotive tech). People used to mock me for paying 12 bux a can until they would give up on something and I'd hit it with me DC and break it free. It also eats Carbon! So anything from heads/valves/T-Bodies and plugs to cleaning up my guns after a day at the range. It rocks,
I don't know what it is about restoring old tools but i love it please keep it up. I was wondering what music are you playing as well i like the music you used.
what an amazing opportunity, I wish something like this would pop up in Olympia Washington. oh and if you don't know of these two people, check out Alec Steele and Brian Brazeal. those two know how to move steel like machines.

The water mill in the background ... just a dream!
The old machines were still built for eternity, nice that there are still people who keep them up!
Thank for the video

He passed away while i was stationed in Japan on the USS O'BRIEN DDG-975. I missed all funerals for 20 years and stopped going when relatives did not want me at Family Funerals.I missed my own dads. because of relatives

This would be a dream for me. I live in a town that used to be a resort town. At its peak it had 2000 residents now there are about 20. Someday I would live to build a blacksmith shop in town with orginal equipment like this power hammer.

I can't say I have any experience in blacksmithing but that is an awesome area you have there.
I could get rusty tools moving again literally all day.

+David Calhoun Thanks, we have a ton of work to di ti make the shop fully operational And I'm gonna love every second!
ARN!!!
+Miguel Simoes Parden me for asking, but what is ARN?
Possible colloquialism for iron, as in "shootin' arn?"
The Good of the Land David is correct. There's a community of people at vintagemachinery.org and owwm.org who restore old machines, and that's the name that's used to refer to old cast iron.
Amazing to see the life creep back into the machines! So much job satisfaction. Keep up the great work!

+Perry Denman I have been searching for a good anvil at a reasonable price for years with no success. I feel vert fortunate to have been asked to help restore this shop. What man in his right mind would say no! There will be more to come!
