The shimano tranx is a good reel
for top water but nothing compared to the calcutta
The best thing about the Conquest is its Micro Module Gears which makes the reel absolutely buttery smooth to crank. The only down side of the reel like most Shimano reels is the weak stock drag out of the box. For example, you will be lucky to get 8-9 lbs max drag on full lockdown on the 200. Once you upgrade it with Carbontex, it will take you up to almost 15 lbs and for the 400 probably slightly more. The only mistake Shimano made in my opinion was they left out the clicker on the 400 which totally limits the application of the reel. You just can fish live bait anymore which is a bummer especially if you fish saltwater.

Left hand models have no magnetic, right hand models have centrifugal and magnetic.

Which would be better the Calcutta d vs conquest?
conquest is the high end choice but the d is still a very good reel.
The conquest looks a lot like the the old 350 GT at that time it was round $300.00 i feel their isn't any fishing reel worth $500.00 plus the Musky Shop has for almost $600.00 !!!!!!!!!
