Yeah, I think they removed some of the older materials that were not good quality. The goal was to replace them with newer and better-quality content. Let me know if you feel a material that is needed is missing and I can talk to the team.
@@wes.mcdermott alll the old leather ones please!! as someone who makes 3d bags and other leather items i find its so much harder, even though the new ones are good there isnt an alternative for all of the old ones
@@wes.mcdermottyall planning on adding an optimized sci fi greeble texture eventually? I have one made but it relies on high poly counts to render properly within maya
Thanks! I would not say that : ) But I do love learning as much as I can about the tools. There are so many amazing artists out there. I am just scratching the surface.
@@wes.mcdermottYou're too humble mate, don't be that way. You are real deal. I learned from you in many years like ton of things, and I'm not the only one, everybody will say so. Cheers Wes, and keep it real.
Tried to look for material and tool settings to get the same kind of result on my project, but couldn't find anything that would match to this. Any help would be appreciated.
Are you looking for the Paint on Path tool or how to create the material effect that I show in this video? I used anchor points to link data between layer masks. I will look at creating a tutorial for this.
@@wes.mcdermott Thank you for answering. To be more specific, I meant the material effect that you showed in this video. I'll be looking forward for the tutorial.
I did this with metahuman but it came like paint made in metahuman face.. what to do for making realistic cybernetic design in metahuman.. please make video on this... Bro Please reply
Thanks! I will take a look at a video for that. I am using the path tool in Painter along with anchor points to drive some masking on layers. It's a compound effect but once it is setup, you just need to create the mask.
To create a new Paint Path you hit the Enter Key. This will allow you to create a new path and you will see the new Path layer listed in the top left corner of the Paint Path Menu in the viewport.
To get the best affect, I think it would need to be a generator created in Substance Designer that is then applied to the Paint Along Path tool in Painter. You would need this to get the overlaps and variation.
For the 2nd shape, I am referencing an anchor point of the lines drawn on the face and then I use mask outline filter to create the beveled edge on another layer with height set to a positive value.
It’s crazy how straightforward a lot of this stuff really is
This was the BEST update, but i also noticed they deleted a lot of their built in materials
which kinda sucked

is that was skin displacement? the topology must be not low to make this good detail or it is?
It is just using the normal map data for the skin. I am not using displacement in this case.
Bro 😅 That face
wow I didn't know we could do this.
Brand new! Just released : )
me too
Thank you for shareing.. this is new for me..

How did u created a new path just right after the first one, to me it just drag the first one

@@wes.mcdermott thank you very much!
awesome
Funnily enough, Blender has had this feature for as long as I can remember... but it isn't easy to use lol
Yeah, this feature was requested back in the Substance Painter beta. We are pretty late to the party : )
what is the build number of this version? I don't find this in the version I have.
This build is version 9.0. helpx.adobe.com/substance-3d-painter/release-notes/version-9-0.html
Is this also posible with clothing?
Yes! Absolutely. We have a brush tool called Top Stitch specifically for clothing.
Took them long enough
Yeah! It was requested since the beta of Painter.
How can get this tool?
This is part of Substance Painter now. It's the Paint Along Path tool.
This man sounds like an ai
Would this work with a sequin trim texture?
To get the best affect, I think it would need to be a generator created in Substance Designer that is then applied to the Paint Along Path tool in Painter. You would need this to get the overlaps and variation.
@@wes.mcdermott hmm, what about maybe a sequin trim texture from Google, would that be able to be curved and bent along a path?
If i make this with metahuman in substance painter will it look like realistic in unreal engine after i import?
amazing tool. Love it
Can you please do this with metahuman
The realistic textures on the cartoon proportions of the face kinda creep me out ngl. This must be the uncanny valley people talk about
Yeah, it's definitely not realistic and can lead to uncanny valley.
How did you add the second shape?
For the 2nd shape, I am referencing an anchor point of the lines drawn on the face and then I use mask outline filter to create the beveled edge on another layer with height set to a positive value.
its so sad that zbrush doesnt have something like this
I think using curves is cool, but is there a way to make it work better than manual wrapping?
Currently it is a manual process of plotting points, but we will have more functionality in the future.
Is it in substance Painter 2022 or it’s in the new version 2023?!
It's the latest release. 2023 - 8.3.
@@wes.mcdermott thank you so much m8
@@wes.mcdermott I don't have this in 8.3
Can you make a tutorial on how we create that dent for the implants, please?
Yes! I will look into this. It's a cool technique.
@@wes.mcdermott omg yay, im so excited for that! Can't wait to start making fun cybernetics. Thank you!
Its kinda painful to watch... 😬
