There's something i don't understand with Airtable. I have the pro version. When i invite someone as an editor on the table, it adds this people to me invoicing 🤯. It's weird because, on the pricing, it's written "Up to 5 creators or editors"' on the Free plan. Why i would have to pay for them espacially if they want to pay their own account later ? If anyone could help me it would be nice (Airtable doesn't answer to my question).

My guess is that it's automatically adding them as "Pro" members too. 5 free members doesn't roll into the pro subscription. It's based on what subscription your workspace is on - not the individual account. So, if you add 5 to a pro workspace, it'll charge for 5. You could create 2 workspaces - one pro one and another free. Pro for your individual use and the free one for sharing things (just won't have the pro features).

@@MatthewGira thx a lot for your answer. As you said, Airtable focus a lot on the big companies and not on the independent (freelances etc). Too bad for us.

Matt, Thank you for taking the time to dig into SmartSuite and providing a fair overview of our product and how we compete against other products like Airtable, Notion, and ClickUp. Our goal at SmartSuite is to provide the core features needed in a single platform that allows businesses to manage any process (workflow) or project. You can think of SmartSuite as a no-code business operating system that provides the capabilities needed to create and manage processes in the exact way you want to run your business or department.
Just in the last two weeks, we have gained over 400 new customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies in over 10 countries around the world. Our product is also available in over 15 languages.
In your video, you stated that we are a young company, and that is correct, but we worked for about 2 1/2 years with over 100 developers to build the core of SmartSuite before we made SmartSuite available to our customers. This was because we knew that we needed to solve the full problem of managing business processes and not just a part of the problem. I also created one of the first no-code platforms used by enterprise customers in 2001 as the founder of Archer Technologies. 75% of the fortune 100 used Archer, and I learned a great deal about how large enterprise companies want and need to use products in this category. I sold Archer in 2010 to one of the large tech companies and retired for about 8 years before getting excited to build the next generation of the no-code platform using the latest available technologies.
I also wanted to clarify a few points that you made in the video and to educate your subscribers on our short-term roadmap.
    1. Later this week, we will be releasing automation actions for Salesforce, Intercom, Outlook, MS Team, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, and Google Drive.
    2. Over the next 10 days, we will also be releasing our Find feature within our Automations engine that will allow for the first part of the conditional actions you described in your video. Phase two of this release will focus on completing the conditional actions in a similar manner that you referenced about Airtable.
    3. Conditions sections and fields for use in Forms are in development now and will be released at the beginning of the new year - maybe sooner!
    4. In our SmartDocs, we currently provide the ability to link to other records and are working now on the ability to link to specific fields in a record. I don't have an exact delivery date, but it will be in the Jan/Feb timeframe.
    5. You also mentioned the need for us to add GoogleDoc as an automation action, and we absolutely agree. We will get to work on this over the next two weeks.
Lastly, there are a few key concepts in which we greatly differ from Airtable that I wanted to point out to your subscribers as this may help them determine if SmartSuite might be a good fit for their business:
    1. We provide the ability to control access at the record level. Meaning different users can have access to different records in the same App.
    2. We provide the ability to link to any App in any Solution and do not limit this to a single Base like Airtable. This eliminates the need to sync data, as you can simply link to the data and then use permissions to control how show have access.
    3. We provide 44 different field types, and Airtable provides 28. This sounds simple, but this is a major difference.
    4. We provide a fully customizable Record page where the Creator can organize the data on the page using three different display formats (single column, two columns 50/50, and two column 70/30). We also allow fields to be organized in sections and enforce required fields.

Jon, thanks for the really thoughtful response! I SO appreciate it. I'm sure others are finding it as helpful as I did!

@@MatthewGira Thanks for the 'very' helpful video. Does Smartsuite also provide a client login and dashboard or, like Airtable, will I need to connect with something like Softr?

@@MrMatt-qs2ck Glad it was helpful! To my knowledge, you would still need to connect with something like Softr if you're looking to create a client login and dashboard. Similar to Airtable in that regard.

Finally decided to learn a bit about SmartSuite. Really interesting to hear the different approach vs. Airtable. I now intend to try and do something in SmartSuite, just not sure what yet. I guess some re-build to see how it goes. Though I use Airtable more for its database-like functionality than for project management.

@@carl-w3r Sounds like a good approach. Being able to re-build things in SmartSuite from Airtable is a good way to see the differences. I felt like for me the differences stood out really quickly that way.

Hi Matt, I signed up for smartsuite but the email notifications are going to spam for Gmail. Any idea on how to fix it?

    • @MatthewGira
      @MatthewGira  ปีที่แล้ว

It should be in Gmail itself. I believe if you and others are marking it as not spam, it should stop sending it to spam.
