Magnificent. The fury, passion, and tenderness of Beethoven is brought to life by their artistry. This has long been my favorite Beethoven quartet and one of his finest compositions in my opinion. Bravo.

Secondo me, Beethoven e bravo al pianoforte, violino e con le sinfonie. I quarteti sono le cose piu brutte che o sentito! Non ha logica niente. Zero musicalita. E scarso. Viva Appassionata e la sonata Kreutzer! Saluti!

Si comprendo lo que mi amigo sentía al escucharlo, no es menos cierto que el conjunto está urdido al modo de un montaje maestro, sin pieza alguna azarosa, de una intensidad dramática y una perfección de estilo escalofriantes . Espejo que anunciaba la obra que estaba por venir. Algo que Beethoven divisaba sin saber adonde le abocaría. Al decir de Swafford, «una profecía de la música que escribiría una década más tarde ».
A powerful performance by the Alban Berg Quartet. They project Beethoven's fierce energy in this quartet with full tone, and change to lyrical phrasing with wonderful ensemble. I would like to suggest that sponsors' ads are at the beginning of the performance not in the middle of movements, which are very distracting. Also, it would make a more coherent presentation to edit out the tuning between movements.
This is not music. At least not Beethoven's. Beware, everything is perfect here: Great musicians playing perfectly together. But something is seriously wrong. For an alternative recording that is actually Beethoven, check the recording of this last of the middle string quartetts "serioso" by the Amadeus Quartett or others. There were a lot of negative comments on this performance, but they were all removed by some devilish censorship! Who did this. I use this recording for lectures on the spiritual character of music as opposed to the material charater given in the notes. Dear Censor! please do not remove this again! Better give a constructive comment for the defense, so that we can get into a productive discussion!
I can’t say anything about censorship, but how is this not Beethoven? The Bergs seem to me to capture the sometimes ferocious intensity of this quartet in a way that the Amadeus don’t.
Ariel Quartetts rendition was pretty dope. I mean this one here is not trash, but I can see why someone would dislike it. Will check out Amadeus Quartett's version, thank you.
