Comparisons- kolek - jalen brunson/ steve nash lite. Carleton bub carrington- caris levert/ dejounte Murray. Adem bona- bismack biyombo/ serge ibaka. Ulrich comche- theo ratliff/ serge ibaka. Kel'el ware- jarrett allen/ dereck lively. DaRon holmes 2nd- kurt thomas/ richaun holmes ( better offense). The suns could use this draft to find some great bench players or potential starters down the road. Get younger, more athletic , improve overall on the defensive end. We should be drafting young guys that fit system and need to play behind and learn from our vets and big three. This isn't as hard as we are making it out to be. We know that the big three are staying, and that most likely we will try to bring back the bench. I don't see lowry leaving his hometown team to take a vet's minimum here. The same can be said for any potential free agents we choose to pursue. Would they leave less money on the table to come to a team in a backup role knowing we had an embarrassing first round exit? Highly unlikely. We are very limited in any trades we can make that improve our team to a point we can realistically compete. We could try to trade nurkic but i'd keep him for now and look at getting a backup. Could we trade gordon or little for a pick? Possibly but both of them regarding trade value is at an all- time low. We aren't solving the problem in free agency or through trades yet. This leaves the draft. More cost efficient and we can add a guy or guys to fill our weak spots ( kolek, carrington, comche, bona and ware) rather than gamble on an aging vet that may not feel like listening to the coach or embracing the system. To be honest, looking at what we currently have to work with in thomas and lee as our pointguards off the bench i'd much rather have kolek or carrington. When looking at power forward and backup center, i'd easily choose bona, comche or ware over young and eubanks. James jones said that he was going to embrace the anti sam presti model for drafting and player development because he wants to win now and in the future. Well, does anyone here think the suns currently have a better team or future outlook using jones model? We now have a G- league team. We need to use the draft, evaluate and develop young players. We have the coach we need to implement a system and new culture. Now add player development and scouting. We need to have a complete organization without question marks.
