Two things I can't say I like with this Collins Cup. First and foremost the teams. Did Frodeno received a EU flag and threw it down as soon as he crossed the line? I'm thinking he wouldn't have done that with the German flag. It's forced and to be honest, I don't get it. Also, the start with only three athletes is also not my cup of tea. I want to see more athletes battling out there, not waiting for the results of others, like its some ski competition. It also makes for a longer TV space. TV nowadays means fast and to the point. Other than that, I really hope it'll be a success long term.
well, I think that there are so many classic format races out there to watch. Triathlon in general needs some new perspective and innovation to get it more popular and interesting especially for broadcasting on TV. This kind of format or what they are doing with the Super League Triathlon (if you know that format), for me it seemed a lot more interesting to watch on TV if you compare it with the 8-9 hours broadcast of a normal Ironman for example. It is faster, more dynamic, you get to see each athlete, and the points system really made it competitive so they pushed all the way to the finish line.
The Collins Cup is a boring format and it was way over hyped - cant wait for Kona and a real competition - Lionel Sanders could not have taken it too seriously given he did an Ironman the week before ....
@@MySTREETvideos Point is if he was taking the competition seriously, he would not have done an Ironman the week before - but I guess the money made it worthwhile - so fair enough - there was not a big difference in money between winners and losers - which made the 'competition' even more irrelevant.
I believe that at that level they take every opportunity to race at the highest level, I simply don't think that he didn't gave his best when Starky and Kienle were chasing him like crazy in the run. They are professional athletes and don't like to lose in any race. If he wasn't serious about it he would not win his race and finish second or maybe third... just my opinion.

As I know PTO was founded quite recently and they wanted to organize this event last year but we all know what happened ;-)
