Oh, I like that wire tie job. Forgot all about that trick we used to use on 1:1 cars for the ignition wires on old V8s. Very nice results with that motor and the strake mod
Great work, Jan. I was thinking something about the banana connectors you use. While using those 4mm connectors,faced some problem's as connection was melting due to high current. And this connector moves inside. So i decided to move from this to solid 4mm bullet connectors.
Good comment, thanks! I have both the banana style and the solid ones. I never had issues with either of them, actually. But the banana connectors I use are tight fit as well
There is a calculation I use to get close to the right prop for changes of kv 11.1 x kv x prop size so let’s say 3514 prop a 3514 is 35x1.4 =49mm total pitch,so 11.1 x 3450 x 49=1.876,455 now let’s try 2950 kv x11.1 using a 3516 prop so 35x1.6= 56mm total pitch. So 11.1 x2950x56=1.833720 so this is very close to the first calculation so I think given the extra torque and power and possibly less voltage sag this prop even though it’s a fraction less on the calc it might go slightly faster or at least the same. It’s just a ball park calc or a starting point for bench prep for prop choice when changing KV.
I use a similar calculation, where I can also calculate the theoretical speed. I make calculations for my profession (Mechanical Engineer) so I love playing with numbers and put the theory at the test 😎
It's really interesting, and I gained some knowledge on lifting strakes and their behavior. This run was on 3S, and I will definitely try 4S as well! 80+ km/h should be easily possible 💪 For the M500 I will try several setups, one of them being a 2848 1980kV on 6S! 😎
Ohh I think you could use bigger prop. The motor is much bigger than Rocket and has lower kV. Of course its just my suggestion but in my opinion you should beat your top speed with Rocket motor despite Turnigys lower kv 😊
I really wish we could run our mini monos together sometime! It would be such a fun!
I agree, that would be a blast! Whi knows someday 😉
Already excited
Everything you build runs perfectly
Thanks! I guess it's partly luck and some experience by now ;)

Thanks! I got the tie-wrap mod from one of my RC friends. It's easy to apply and effective 👍
@CozyRC Agreed 👍
Perhaps needs a bit more positive angle on the strut to loosen up the hull.
I agree, but this short stinger is very difficult to tilt up. Therefore, I'm using a longer stinger on the successor of this Mini Mono, the M500 😎

@ sweet,I do the same, based on the resulting speeds from the calculations across all my tests.
great test with the strakes
maybe 5s? on better water

@CozyRC good kv👌

Both motors perform great in this boat. I will definitely try bigger props with the Turnigy motor, and I will run it on 5S as well!
@CozyRC 5s sounds like crazy! I cant wait😊
Oops, sorry I meant 4S 😅. Should be fast still!
