The “Let’s bring it back to 140” line in I got a boy refers to BOTH 140 bpm and 140 seconds of the song (not MV). 🤯

It is actually 140BPM. If you saw the reaction of the classical musicians, they are also Mindblown about that beatdrop and then "Let's bring it back to 140" And 140BPM indeed got back playing. Cause they instantly knew they are referring to the bpm instead of the timestamp (which is also a true reference)
Into the new world is legendary, it's the song that protesters use for any cause like Gay rights and student protest, it's also the song that's been played at the border of south & north korea, making North angry at a point, IGAB won at the first ever TH-cam Music awards, Gee is their break out song, it made them into the Legendary group that they are today,also ITNW is supposed to be for another SM group but they disbanded so it went to Girls' Generation
A song did not make the DPRK angry stop believing western media and U.S imperialism propaganda to prevent unification, fuel hate and demonize the North.
SNSD will always be my #1 girl group. I think they're the perfect epitome of girly cute AND womanly at the same time. No matter what age I am, when I listen to SNSD, they make me feel certain things that no other girl group makes me feel. With songs like Gee and Lion Heart, I feel so innocent. With songs like Hoot and Genie, I feel like a boss babe. With songs like Run Devil Run and Catch Me If You Can, I feel like a grown ass woman. I just love SNSD.
Gee was rolling stone #1 kpop song of all time as of now and I think a lot of people fail to recognize why it was a gamechanger not only because it was super viral throughout Asia and somewhat in Europe, it also changed the way South Koreans dressed with the colored-skinny jeans. Girls' Gen deserve their medal nonetheless because 2nd gen performance vocals' are live and they have to wear high heels for the longest time...like 5 years? I really recommend Kissing You (valentine song just about) and All Night (1980s club beat drop)

Into the New World is one of the most iconic debut songs. It’s literally the start of the girl’s generation. It’s probably still one of the most covered Girl Group songs today, I feel like almost every female idol has performed this at least once in their training or idol career. Apparently the girls practiced the song for over a year before they debuted.
IGAB is known as the Bohemian Rhapsody of K-pop. This song was HUGE, even though alot of people couldn't make sense of it because it was so ahead of its time. It's kind of the predecessor of Red Velvet's Zimzalabim and Aespa's Next Level,.
I think snsd is like a treasure trove of wonderful work waiting to be discovered and appreciated. [Japan Album,live performance, tour, sub unit, member solo]
BTW:Girls generation is THE NATIONS GIRL GROUP. they are the most diverse girl group ever. they have the best japanese discography. they to be my ultimate bias group.
They were always way ahead of their time both vocal and performance wise.

Fun fact about gee taeyeon hated the song so much she cried when she heard it and the group all have a saying where if gee is playing in a room they’ll leave that room they’re so over the song because it was so overplayed lol also that song was so huge it was considered the song of the decade
And of course, this lead to the SNSD saying that "if Taeyeon hates a song, it will be an enormous hit". Not saying that songs she liked weren't also hits, but the ones she hated were the biggest hits (cause they were the really cutesy ones).

So basically every KPop Girl Group created since 2009, had to learn, practice and perform 'Into the new World' and 'Gee' almost as part of their initiation into the industry. And many, many of them have performed the songs on TV and/or stage, either as part of their debut or shortly thereafter (as typically a new group only has one or two songs of their own at the time of debut).
And within SM, many of the Boy Groups also learn the songs (and sometimes perform them on stage), as they are great examples of the makeup of a truly successful, indeed legendary, song.

I don't think people grasp how momentuos of a debut Into the New World is. It's literally the debut of this mainstream Kpop in general. I think people assume it's just another debut from a group and assume there's tons of girl groups before them. GG is one of the first girl groups out there.

Into The New World (ITNW) started as an Okay song. It wasn't as an immediate "viral" as SNSD's other iconic songs like Gee, Genie (Tell Me Your Wish), etc... However, with the songs lyrics/message, SNSD's different live performance, and variety or survival show's love for this song then it became like the unofficial 2nd national anthem of S.Korea. Sung as a 'unification' song in protest rally, covered by male and female idols, used to check an idol's readiness to debut, and more...
1:40 Not 100% sure, ITNW views still got nothing compared to Gee but if I remembered correctly according to some original sone(s), millions and millions of views got lost when they uploaded it using SM's YT name as well as when the song got remastered.
Since you are Dolla fans, just want to inform you that they took part in a reality show in China a few days ago. They competed with a chinese girl group. Dolla sang 3 songs live. Damelo got 340k views in 4 days on youtube

I kind of agree with what he said regarding the “high note”. Taeyeon’s note (the more popular one amongst idols and fans alike), is a D5 and sustained. It’s still considered a mid-belt especially among sopranos. During live performances, she does that alone. HOWEVER (fun fact), in the studio, it’s actually TAEYEON and JESSICA singing that note. The note he referred to as the high note (“is this the high note?”) was actually Jessica’s, an F#5 but not sustained. I guess it kinda lost its popularity because of ballad version did not include that note, but that line is actually harder to sing.

Yeah, no. I Got A Boy is not kpop, it's a Korean remake of a western artists song. The original song including the different genre switches and adlibs is called Shiner On U by Katy Tiz.
Half of Girls' Generation's popular songs are remakes of western songs.
A western artist made a demo track, but it was not a finished song.
