Guard dogs are usually endowed with traits such as confidence, strong powerful muscles, high speed, sharp sense of smell and sight, high level of inteligence and a natural instinct to protect. These four-legged friends are also known for their unbowed loyalty and devotion towards their owners. On the downside, if these dogs are neglected or not properly trained, these same strengths could quickly turn to weaknesses. Genes or environment; is one of the most debated topics when applied to who is the most aggressive of them all when it comes to Man’s Best Friend. It goes without saying that any dog that goes through a neglectful, abusive or even life-threatening situation is more likely to become abusive. But the paramount question still remains, does that mean these are bad dogs? On the other hand, some dog breeds were bred with hunting and killing stamped in their genes. However, despite some breeds having been bred for all aggressively possible purposes, there are still outliers from those breeds.

At 3 yrs old I got my 1st puppy It was a pit. I have had one since. Im 57 now so for 54 yrs I've had a pit. Best dogs in the world for my needs and my kids and grandkids. I bred Dobermans and Purebred Chow Chows. But for protection and love and outright endurance. And its all in how you raise them.

.......i honestly think people who believe that have ZERO respect for the iintelligence of animals. Its BOTH. Without rules and discipline your kid will probably grow up to be a bad person but the Judge or Police arent going to say "its the parents fault" NO ! Its BOTH. I'm not afraid of any of these breeds, just the people who might get them and don't have a clue how to handle them, or even worse, train them to be aggressive on purpose. There really is no bad dog, it's all about education, training and clear boundries a dog can understand... and more important a human can understand.

Dog owners should be licensed not the dogs, too many people buy dogs without understanding them, while with most dogs this is ok with these especially the Boerboel, pitbulls and rotties I have owned all of these three breeds and the only time any of them turned aggro at a guest was when a guest tried to hit his child, my rottie wanted to tear him to pieces (I almost let her) took me all my strength and handling skills to stop her and she was not a big girl for the breed. All our dogs save the Rottie were rescue dogs and they all were great members of the family and we never had problems with them and our other dogs. These are dogs that need a lot of love and will return it 10 fold.

They are just called dobermans by most people. The video didn't go into some things about the breed. They mischaracterizes them as medium sized dogs up to 80 pounds I think they said. There is a consideration that must be taken. American Dobie's are 90 to 100 pounds for males. European (and that can be in America if the right breeder is keeping the lines european) Dobie's are larger and built slightly different from the American standard. I have worked with a very musculated, intelligent, discerning 135 pound male. WOW, as the clip said they bite multiple times in a very short time span. They are also slashing biters not crushers. They inflict a tremendous amount of damage in a few brief seconds. Do to America's love with litigation, doberman's are not used as police K-9s in the USA. Even criminal fill the courts with frivolous law suits. There is a wonderful memorial to dobermans of WWII on the island of Guam.

I've owned a total of 3 pits they are my favorite breed... Aggression was never an issue with my fur babies, goofy, zoomy, funny, love bugs, the only aggression i experienced was their farts i would die... Hell one of my boys cried when his brother ate the cricket he was trying to protect, true story... It's how you raise them you raise them properly with love, attention, affection, and the right discipline they are wonderful family pets... As for my pits I've raised my pits into marshmallows...

All I've ever owned are Amstaffs and American Pitbull Terriers, 5 in total. Never had an issue. They do protect the family and treated my infants like their own children. In my life I've met one that was just rotten. However, I don't blame the dog as he was left outside by himself and you just can't do that with the breed. They must be part of the family.

I have a 4 month Alapaha. They're very chill but they're naturally protective and territorial. 100lbs of pure muscle.
He's the best of both worlds. You can take him hunting for wild boars as a catch dog but then let him in the house to cuddle with your children. Highly intelligent and easy to train. Best dog I've ever owned hands down.

Although this is true, the pitbull was specifically built for aggressiveness against other animals. If it attacks you and you hit it around the head with a baseball bat, it doesn’t matter they will not back away untill you are limbless. I am a 11 year old boy from India my uncle had a bull mastiff which died and now he owns two American pit bull terriers and both of the pit bulls are my best friends they are both female dogs. They are very kind to my uncle's son who is 3year old and to me also. The pit bulls are really massive I tried to walk the smaller dog but it pulled me a little.

I have two one of 7yrs old and loves friends and family i recently adopted a small pittie was aggressive towards new people but loves other dogs I've had him trained to learn not every new person is a danger to him or his family i also had a Rottweiler/pit bull mix which lived 13yrs old and the last 5yrs became the most popular and loving dog I've ever had

We are the fortunate rescuers of trooper - 8 months of love from our boerbul shepherd cross. Wanted so to be allowed one of his siblings as well only protocol did not allow. We are experienced mastiff owners - must be the shepherd in him which makes him unwilling to respond to “come”. Otherwise his guardian heritage shines already. Mama was a small uncared for shepherd. Trooper is buckskin with the black mask and eye markings a wide short muzzle flop ears but a graceful slope to the back of his head 70 lb. now. Good dry for. Large breeds mixed with meat 7cups or so per day. Socializing with a little ol snarly thing at home and daily walks with missy - a 4 year old boerbul cross and Bella - her 13week cane coral baby sister- and boy do you ever want to see the characteristics of that breed. Anyway we are excited and pleased with this cross breed and would recommend such a cross to experienced loving knowledgeable owners. He is a truly physically gorgeous loving intelligent specimen.
