Waiting On Stone: Pencil Drawing Process

  • I don’t really know what a drawing will look like when I start the planning. There is always some intuition and play that changes the plan as I go along. This year has been a balancing act, trying to hold multiple different contrasting states of mind. I can’t tell if this drawing reflects the space Ive found myself in or a goal I’d like to reach for. Either way there is a sense of calm but complex serenity when I look back on this work. I hope you enjoy it too.

Amazing as usual. I came here for the art, and have stayed for that same art. It's amazing how you have stayed a true artist, rather than becoming a youtuber first, who does art. I'm trying to mimic that more than anything else in your work

I 100% agree with@LukeGottliebArt. I’ve been watching your videos and truly appreciate your realness and devotion to your craft. It’s so annoying people wanting to be TH-cam famous and forget their foundation. You are a true craftsman and an amazing Artist. Don’t ever change.

These are always beautiful, and not just the painting. The entire process is cinematic, the way you wash the medium, the shots of the different tools, everyone involved is extremely talented. I don't want to even imagine how many hours of hard work and practice went in to becoming this good.
I also really admire your choice in graphite to create these gorgeous pieces of art. The dark backgrounds embracing the subject in shadows like blankets. Even nude the model doesn't look cold or uncomfortable. It's quite the opposite, the subjects are always in a state of serenity, comfort or bliss. The subjects always like they are almost about to go to sleep after exhausting yet rewarding work, make love, are pleasantly high on ecstasy, or are remembering the comfort of being a baby. All of this, while the white starts to pop out, the brightness is brilliant, the subject looks like they can fall out of the portrait.
Oils are what people usually think of when they hear of a portrait which looks like a photograph, and- I imagine -it is what buyers typically desire. However, your choice in paper and graphite, and the process you go through to wash, lift the graphite erasing, creating various ranges of shadow, and the almost luminous white.
    I can't praise this enough.

Nice macro work, and loved the shots while you were working in part shadow. I see what you did there.

I can see you disappear into that rabbit hole of detail. :) It’s such a relaxing feeling watching you work. ASMR. 😂 I never realised one can add and subtract graphite that many times until I saw your videos. Thank you for sharing your process with us.

I'm always impressed by your works and also the effort you put into making them. You are one of the first artists I saw when I was starting drawing and making art in general ( over 2 years ago) and you're still a huge inspiration for me so thank you ❤

Really enjoy watching your videos. Could you do a video about finding a studio space and getting people to help /model for you? I hope to set up a studio of my own some day but I don't know where to begin.

Your artwork and process is incredibly inspirational. You have such dedication and discipline, these are aspects I need to work on. I'm curious if you are familiar with an artist called Laurie Lipton? I have enjoyed your videos for some time now and each time is just as amazing as the last. I've learned so much from your videos. Thank you for taking the time to share your artistic wisdom! 😊 wishing you happy holidays.

What is the best paper to put up with the wear and tear when using the different kinds of erasers? I'm using a hand vac to rid my work of excess graphite, do you know a better way (its killing the filters). I'd like to see how your work translates to animal hair, fur. I am attempting it now, with limited success, so far🥴. Your work is amazing by the way👍

So amazing and like idk how u do it❤
Day 7 of asking🎉🎉 if u want to i would appreceate if if u made another hyper realistic eye tutorial not step by step they're a little confusing tbh no offense so another eye tutorial that would be sooooo good i really need it so much!🤞and more detailss...... so u know like the eye drawing "Honey" u know very detailed and like the 45 degree angle eye tutorial like them mixed together cuz u are en amazing artist and I dont see anyone Else that can do it like u with the details and the overall contrast i dont exepect anything because u know u are a big youtuber and idk why u would listen to me🖊✏️🖌 Hope u doin it though it would make me happy and a better artist.✏️✏️ like im a beginner u know.
