Virginnia Corbett They are singing a 700 years old song written, composed and sung by Amir Khusro. English subtitles are available on this video in case you did not notice. Peace.
+Virginnia Corbett I've staked all I have - my wealth, my body, my very soul. And good fortune has showered its blessings on me. Everyone makes a play of Devotion. But true Devotion is not achieved. You will know the true meaning of Devotion when you devote yourself to your spiritual master. Khusrau, the game of love. If I play with my dear one, if I win my sweetheart is mine. If I lose, I'm still with my dear one. You have snatched away all trace of me with one glance of your enchanting eyes. Whether or not you agree to speak to me, whether or not you agree to listen. I will not leave your side, my swarthy beloved. With one glance of your enchanting eyes, you have snatched away all trace of me. You've intoxicated me with one glance of your enchanting eyes. The Night of the Prophet's Celebration has Dawned. Come and let his slave dye you in his hue. Whoever's veil he chose to color, blessed became his fortune. You have snatched away all trace of me with one glance of your enchanting eyes. Khusrau forfeits his life in Nizamuddin Auliya's love. You've made me a radiant bride with just one glance of your enchanting eyes...

I don’t know where to begin to make a humble comment on a masterpiece of a song. I grew up in India, living in the U.S. and forever I listened to rock and hard rock music. And then came this amazing gift to me. Came at a very dark time in my life and opened my eyes to what matters - giving everything away and embracing the master with nothing but devotion. The poem is a gem and the song rendering by these great artists elevates this gem to a level where it touches and changes your soul. I need not do anything but soak in the music into my innermost being.

"Chaap" (lit.mark) means the "mehraab" a mark on Muslims forehead due to prostrating (sajda) during prayers. And "Tilak" refers to the red mark Hindus use on their forehead as a religious mark. Here Kusrau was alluding to the fact that he has forgotten his identity in his Master Nizam-ud-Din Auliya. It's a poetic symbolism and exaggeration to show his level of devotion, not that he was not a devoted Muslim. Complete devotion is a recurrent theme in Sufi "Tariqat", in all 12 houses of tariqat, especially the four great sufi houses of Sub-continent..

Found this via the glorious youtube algorithm. As an English man, I can honestly say there's very few pieces of music that have moved me as much as this. Amazing. You don't need to understand the words to feel that passion.
It's cause it was heavily appreciated by people in the US, this is how the alogirthm works, catapults what's being appreciated until it doesn't anymore.

I feel like I cannot go back to my life before listening to this out-of-this-world performance. I know, I feel, that somethings have changed while I watch this. Wow. Wow. Respect!
"If I play with my dear one, if I win, my sweetheart is mine. If I lose. I'm still with my dear one" This is such a deep line and deeply mystical, paradoxical and full of Truth. The belief in separation (being an individual person) is where this is about, in reality all is one and separation does not exist, everything is Divine and free will doesn't exist (although we might feel we have such a thing- that's the play) , "If I play with my dear one" gives a hint about this. If his (God, Brahman, Allah, The Absolute or Life) game is played right a seemingly individual will turn inwards and realises His own nature, when one (a seemingly separate individual) doesnt do that He is still with his dear One as finally all will come to this oneness. No matter what "His will" be done. "You have snatched away all trace of me" refers to a seemingly seperate individual who turned inwards and realised his own Divinity.

Admiration and respect from an Arab!
You should turn on the subtitles, that might help you understand it a lot. It can not present the exact beauty of poetry and its depth but you will get the general idea.

What a masterpiece they've made!
Pleasant to the soul. Refreshing all the sorrows. Ufff. Abida Parveen Ji's start was amazing.
I've Come here after almost 5 to 6 years.

Found this via the glorious youtube algorithm. As an English man, I can honestly say there's very few pieces of music that have moved me as much as this. Amazing. You don't need to understand the words to feel that passion.
I highly recommend that you try listening to the other Coke Studio Pakistan songs as well! Thank me later.
It's cause it was heavily appreciated by people in the US, this is how the alogirthm works, catapults what's being appreciated until it doesn't anymore.
Sufi music touches the soul indeed
The divine power in the song is what reached you, good sir. It reaches me all the way in Midwestern USA.
Abida Parveenji made this look so easy. Her voice made this song. Her sections were soothing and beautiful.
5:53 - 6:13 Pure ecstasy ❤️. This is what happens when you are trained by World Class Ustad Nushrat Fateh Ali Khan, I felt as if NFAK's soul itself entered Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

We are all guests, travelers on this planet. Our souls were probably from the same great spirit/God, so in fact we're on the same side dear friend :-) Music is love & Love is the strongest energy in the world. Lets not spoil it. May God bless us all
Abida parveen is sooooo effortless, so raw and rustic. Her voice touches straight to heart❤

I feel like I cannot go back to my life before listening to this out-of-this-world performance. I know, I feel, that somethings have changed while I watch this. Wow. Wow. Respect!
that was so apt:) coulndnt agree more..
"If I play with my dear one, if I win, my sweetheart is mine. If I lose. I'm still with my dear one"
This is such a deep line and deeply mystical, paradoxical and full of Truth.
A Pakistani friend intorduced me to this!❤ can't be more thankful to him:') This is pure bliss!!!
