  • After watching Big Lee's last video - ‪@MiniatureAdventuresTV‬ - I remembered that I wanted to make a short video about Mr. Grant's book some time ago. Thought and done.
I added it to the 'Campaigns' series because I think that's where it fits best. (After all, it contains two campaigns.)

This was a great review... very informative, and a lot of fun to watch! The Grant's (Father , Son, & looks like Grandson) are my favorite miniature wargaming authors... ever since I came across Grant Sr.'s classic book, The Wargame" Thank you for sharing your thoughts & opinions with us! Well Done!

Thx. It's a great book full of ideas and you can't help but admire the author. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

Hi, very interesting video thank you. C S Grant isn't a Mr. though - he's a retired Brigadier General, if I remember correctly.

Oh.. I missed that. Although I have no idea how to address someone like that either.
For Colonel (Ret) W. E. Gray (AoE) it was mentioned in the book. Thx for watching.

I’ve owned the original edition of this book for about 30 years and though most of my games are solo, I’ve almost never used it. For starters it’s a VERY boring read with long-winded, leaden prose: I have car service-manuals that are more interesting. Although first published in the 1980s, the choice of army compositions is better suited to rules written in the 1960s. Instead of this revised (and hopefully re-edited) edition with additional photos of troops, I would go for CS Grant’s other books of Wargames scenarios, which though still a chore to read have some truly excellent scenarios suitable even for solo gaming.

Played two of these in non-solo mode. Both excellent. What attracted me here was the possibility of quick scenarios “on the fly”. My table is still used by other occasions almost every weekend, which greatly reduces the playing time. Hope this gets better.

Book looks good, but may not be usuable for my main interest. Prefer non shooting games. Medieval/Fantasy. And extremely limited (almost none) magic.

It's pretty genre independent. But need... it's helpful for solo games. You can also try to implement the basic idea yourself. A little more complex... but it's tailor-made for you then.
