Wow, it was really cool to hear Justin talk this much about the *nsync days, it was definitely because he was talking to Lance, who went through it with him, and not some random media person. This was a great interview. Can't believe No Strings Attached is 20 years old but it's still a classic.
Give Lance credit here. Getting JT the talking for over an hour about the good ole days with NSYNC was definitely a catalyst for bringing JT closer to wanting a reunion three years later.
Lance, thanks for letting him talk.... and he thorough. You never once interrupted him or cut him short. So many interviews and podcasts are nothing more than interruptions and racing through an answer because the interviewer is nudging it faster. Great job!!!! You let him elaborate as much as he wanted. Great interview!
Lance is amazing, I wouldn't have the patience, but I can't help thinking this was a rare chance to catch up with his usually busy friend too so he took the opportunity
Lance is 👏 amazing. As someone with adhd myself and who can ramble and also interrupt other people I'm talking to...he handled himself 💯. It can't be easy.
Funny you mention that. I went to college for journalism (dropped out after first year for many reasons, it really wasn't for me) and one of the courses was all about interviewing and they teach that you actually are supposed to interrupt/cut in when the interviewee is rambling to keep it short and to the point, and to kind of steer the conversation and keep it moving at a reasonable pace. Which is kinda stupid because I feel like most people would rather hear longer, more detailed answers in many cases. And in fact I got a poor grade on an interview I did because I let the person I was interviewing talk on as long as she wanted and didn't cut her off. Couldn't bring myself to do it.
Oh my goodness! I remember, my Dad who was in a terrible accident when I was young & went through severe pain & surgeries wasn't able to interact with my sister & I much on an emotional level, but he did take us to an NSync concert & he even danced to the songs when they played. One of the greatest memories of my life!
From what Justin said, it seems like the chance for a reunion is more open than it ever has been! The face that they all want to get together and talk is huge. I think there will be a genuine reunion at least once in the next 5 years.
I feel like is a mix of feelings when they talk about "the good old days". I like it expose more about their actual age at the time they were doing *NSYNC (and their messing around behind scenes) also hearing Justin talking 10 minute straight in details for each of their songs make me convince he *is* a music nerd. In a good way, I mean could see him close himself and experiment/work on creating new songs. They knew they were young but striving to be good and not everything was good. Today don't feel like other boy bands put the same effort into it as this guys did. Still love what they did. Best 20th Anniversary. Also...is gonna be May soon.

Best interview ever about NSYNC. N'sync has been a huge N'sync fan since the begining. Thanks for making the 20 years of loving your guys and loving your music the best yyears ever.😘😘😍😀❤️❤️😄😄😀😍😘
The way he talked about the old days was very touching ❤ I loved it, this was so amazing. That last question omg 😳😳 I love how justin answered in such a nice way, i think he's up to the idea, if not he would have answered different tbh. And lance... I've heard him in another interview saying that 'we'll see in the coming months' thing hmmmmmmm... i just hope they do something together omg.
"Sonically Bring down the House was something we could have sung on our first record" I am basically answering all of these questions before Justin gets to the answer...I listened non-stop to Nsync from 1998-2001.Saw them live in 2001. I am glad they all stayed down to earth. I am still a big fan.
I love that they're talking about Trolls world tour release and here we are 3yrs later and they DID reunite for a song on Band Together!! My teen heart is so happy rn 😂

Too bad The Supremes could never get their stuff together and reunite properly. Miss Ross was TOO MUCH of a Diva and Ms. Wilson (got rest her soul) was much too bitter, but am pretty sure Florence would have been down to reunite (HAD SHE BEEN INVITED). I'm not sure how Miss Cindy Birdsong felt about the possibly reuniting. I think she would have been down, as she was in MOTOWN 25 VERY BRIEF Supremes reunion, and later in the 2000's for MOTOWN 45 with Mary Wilson & Kelly Rowland (filling in for Diana Ross). Performance which might I add Miss Mary Wilson was TERRIBLE!!! (no shade) she PROVED why Diana was made lead singer, seriously...Cindy wasn't so great either as she sounded like she was about to throw up and poor Kelly I guess did the best she could (probably a bit intimidated as having to fill in for Miss Ross) but anyways....
I love how Lance hurried him up, let’s get through these past ones quickly. He even specified one or two sentences.....then he goes on another tangent lmao
I agree! Honestly, I've never really heard him doing this before, and I loved it! He always takes time letting the person talk, and he is always so charismatic in his questions, and is really listening to the person.
@Tehlawl firm you sound like a clown. Justin was literally complimenting the powerhouse that is JC's voice and he does have the best voice out of the 5. Justin is successful, his music is great but there's nothing wrong with him and others acknowledging how great JC Chasez's voice is even in comparison to JT
@Tehlawl firm lol! It's comes out from JT that JC is the best singer in the group, you can't admit that because your a fan of JT ,I am right? So what if JT is more successful than JC? But it doesn't mean he's the best! Of course,JC's album is wrong choice of music! And wrong choice of producer while Justin has best one. And let me tell you,Justin known from NSYNC first! 5 members of group are talented on their own way! But JC stand out ! And JT for his boy next door image.
@@leigh1128 JC album was not “The wrong choice” y’all just didn’t give it the time of day!! he had amazing songs on their and a cohesive storyline as well JT took the easy way out because he was given the privileged position from the beginning
I think he sometimes gets embarrassed by the outfits he wore and little things like that but, I don't think Justin has ever been embarrassed by his time with the group, itself. He'll get uncomfortable when interviewers pull out pictures from his NSYNC days but, I've always gotten the impression that it has more to do with him judging his own looks at the time than anything else. People sometimes forget that Justin was literally a teenager for almost the entire time he was in NSYNC so, when people pull out NSYNC photos it's the equivalent of pulling out his high school yearbook. (Even though he was obviously a very handsome teen, pretty sure Justin views it as his "awkward" stage style-wise).
It happends with every member of a massive successful band who's going solo. They don't necessary feel embarrassed or dislike about the band that they were in. In order to focus on their solo career, they avoid talking about the past but instead they keep looking what happends now and in the future.
It’s so weird seeing all these hate comments about JT reminiscing fondly in a podcast with an ex-NSYNC member. It’s like no matter what he does, you guys are always looking for something to be pressed about. He doesn’t talk about NSYNC in his career - he’s so arrogant, he’s an opportunist, he broke up NSYNC. He talks with Lance on this podcast - oh he sounds distant, disconnected, like he didn’t want to be there. It’s like damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Btw Justin keeps in touch with NSYNC members and also soooo many ex-musketeers. He’s still close with Matt Morris (who’s signed onto his record label), he said in this podcast that Nikki DeLoach’s family is with him right now (JC’s ex-gf on MMC), Tony Lucca wrote a song about Britney and Justin in one of his songs back in 2007 and Justin gave his permission, etc. He has also attended JC’s birthday parties throughout the years. Trying to blame him for everything in 2023 is just a weird take. I think people should just let it go.
Preach!!!!!👏🏻 It’s crazy that people still throw dirt when none of the folks he supposedly wronged harbor ill will towards him. Britney posted about jamming to his song, Janet exonerated him in her doc (though yes, it sucks that he didn’t publicly come to her defense after the Super Bowl), JC is still tight with him, etc. Justin is private and it seems like people misconstrue that as him hanging people out to dry. I’m still not entirely sure how JT looks back on *NSYNC, but I certainly don’t see anything concrete that suggests he sticks his nose up at it, as people like to believe.
Exactly. He can’t say anything especially regarding his past relationship. I’m telling you all these “holier than thou” people is part of the reason why he might hesitate to make contact with his past (Brit) and Nsync. I mean i know I’d be acting like JT too, and just do my own thing if any steps I take towards my 20’s is gonna bring me nothing but people with pitchforks ready to “stab me to death”.
i kinda hear the reference between "I'll be good for you" and Maxwell's "Sumthin', Sumthin". Now that JT mentioned it, it's all clear to me now. I've been wondering about the soundalike of that song for years.
During the coronavirus lockdown the Pop Star Justin Timberlake and his former bandmate Lance Bass is talking about the 2nd soundtrack and the Pop Star Justin Timberlake while he is in Big Sky Montana during the lockdown with his family and his 2 sons and his wife Jessica Timberlake ❤️
@moodyjenny86 Truth is Justin screwed up with the Super Bowl boob slip incident, and it affected J.C., too. Dumb producers and managers thought Justin did it on purpose, and they all thought that's the way they all rolled. They thought, "These guys are willing to do anything bad for publicity," and they weren't willing to give J.C a chance during what would've been his most important moment to take off. When band members go solo, there's a short, small window moment where they need to explode, and if they miss it, it's over. Justin hit it just right, and there was no way for the producers who were mad at Justin to put the Jeanie back in the bottle
Y'all don't realize what you're asking of someone when saying things like this. Sometimes a musician has an idea and wants to create music that may be different than what the group wants, so they go solo. It's selfish to make someone stay and stifle their own creativity to please everyone else. Imagine only doing group art projects your whole life, and when you want to work on a project on your own, people shame you for it. The reality is that it's less selfish to go off and do your own thing than to try to force your ideas on 4 other people. So, you do it solo. If you have respect for people/friends you're not going to try to force your ideas on them and make them do what you want, or sing/perform what you want. It sucks they broke up, but what happened with JC's career isn't all ofJustin's responsibility.
if Nsync did have a reunion, it would have to be something different. it cant be the whole same bsb, nkotb shit. i dont know what that is. but i know it would be have to be something unique. especially with where JT is in his carrier.
I know some people have said in the past, "Justin doesn't want anything to do with NSYNC anymore", but listening to him talk here, you can tell he has fond memories of that time, but then again, why would he have talked about the past all the time if he wanted to move forward? You can argue, yes, when you're working with credible hip-hop artists like Jay Z, T.I. or 50 Cent, you don't really want to be reminded that you were once a boy band member, but remember, Justin was 14 (!) when NSYNC started. Of course, when you grow up and look back, there are always certain things that you find a little embarrassing now, but that's part of growing up. I think Justin can be proud of his journey, he's super professional at what he does and he's managed to have two very successful music careers, and a lot of people in the music industry don't even manage to have one.
Love how lance tries to dig for answers asking if JT ever runs into any of them including britney and he says he has run into all of them at different times in his 20s and 30s. I don't think JT and Brit have even laid eyes on each other since the split. Other than maybe seeing each other at the VMAs in 2007. Lol we all wanna know though if they've ever talked since then.
Yes, true! The two of them haven't had close contact since 2003, maybe in 2007 JT tried to ask how Britney was doing at the VMAS, IDK! Sadly, these two ex have not remained on good terms. I think a lot has also influenced the conservatorship that Britney has ended up in. Every time they have been in the same place at the same time, Britney's team has made sure to avoid their meeting.
@@brbikr9059 Where did Nikki Deloach say that? Could you link us please? Thanks. I think Timbaland has said they both tried to reach out to Britney but she really didn't care lol
Britney’s mom and Timbaland confirmed that Britney and Justin collaborated on a song together in 2008, but it stayed unreleased. So yes they did have contact with each other. Whether we’ll actually get that song released is another matter though…
What I feel good about this is the interviewer Lance Bass is one of them so they don't have to cover for each other *every time* is bad for them when the journalists/Hosts/ect. always try to put one against the other as to "why *Nsync break up..is because he said this and that" only to make a headline like they say.
Given the assumed tension between the guys it's refreshing to hear this interview. Over the years to a lot of the fans it seems like Justin outgrew or grew disinterested in continuing the band. Almost like he never had time to interact and no interest in speaking transparently. Though we'll probably never get the true story of what happened and exactly why or a full out show, this was good.
I don't think it's that he didn't care for *NSYNC anymore, but that as a musician he had other interests and wanted to explore other avenues. I think him leaving comes across as him hating the group or something, but he probably just had different interests and ideas he wanted to explore down the line. It's like doing only group art projects, and then wanting to a project on your own for an idea that you have. People call him selfish but I think it's actually less selfish to explore your idea on your own than forcing your idea on 4 other members in the group. Especially if it's not something that may interest them...
The media makes him out to be snobbish and arrogant, not wanting to acknowledge his nsyncs days, damn near ashamed of it. This interview reveals otherwise
The media even accused and tried to frame him of “cheating” in all his relationships . Just like how the media tried to falsely portrayed Britney as someone who is “dangerous” and shouldn’t be around knives 🙄 the media is the enabler of ruining all the celebs image and relationships!
I wanna see the four of them reunite and make a new album just because i want to see how their vocal arrangement/harmonies would be without their mentor, Robin Wiley..
Wow… Britney referenced this podcast episode in her memoir… the part where JT says he’d “do anything when you’re young and in love” about his matching denim outfit with Britney 😳
I think hes literally just on the phone. This was REALLY early in COVID. Like the release was the week of the national shutdown. He might have just gotten stuck without his broader selection of audio equipment on hand.
So everyone heard justin say jc was the better singer so all the jt hater who always say jc was not pushed and he was the better singer we heard it from the horses mouth so just can stop the bullshit jc and just took 2 different directions when it came to there solo career things just workout different at the end of the day they are still best friends who grew up together and had a lot of fun and they all were successful and made enough money to support themselves and their families at the end of the day that's all that matters period
Well it’s nowhere near as black and white as “jc just choose the wrong direction” it’s something for everyone on his album.. it had a lot of great songs on their...jc was blackballed by his own record label..he was given no money behind him..no good promotion etc but that’s just a bigger conversation
@@nas6401 ok well that's the record labels fault not justin. It seems to me that people think that it was justin who blackballed jc which is far away from the truth. It's the label they angry jc fans should be going after. Lol not justin
Donnell Smithers I agree with that to an extent as well Justin could’ve made things more clear about him going “solo” and also he was also a reason jc missed out on a big career opportunity...but yea it’s not Justin’s fault
out of all the interviews he was the one member of the group who remembered the most, correctly too. When it came to tracks on the album Joey was a close second.
I don't think I could ever out grow Nsync. They have made my younger years, the best to remember.

44:44 Justin clearing the fact jc was great nd best in nsync
There are plenty of amazing vocalists. It takes something else to be a great entertainer
@@william9104 and what didn’t JC have that it took?
@@leigh1128 JC album was not “The wrong choice” y’all just didn’t give it the time of day!! he had amazing songs on their and a cohesive storyline as well JT took the easy way out because he was given the privileged position from the beginning
Never knew o holy night and I thought she knew had the same vocal arranger. Two of my favourite nsync songs.
I would love to hear an *NSync harmony performance of Rock Your Body and Cry Me a River. You guys would sound great performing those songs together.
Without this interview the latest reunion never woulda happened 🔥
Oh Lance Bass, my very first celebrity heartbreak.
I love this TV show 😍 🤣 ❤️ and I love you Justin Timberlake in my heart forever ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Justin says "You know" too much, but it doesn't stop my love for him; or the group!
it's because he's having a genuine conversation with Lance, and Lance knows... Lol
It's not that smart.
i always thought JT was embarassed of his nsync days but this interview really made me think different
Why would he be embarrassed? he would be nobody otherwise.
@@SwiftFoxProductions makes sense
@@johniii8147 it's the outfits
Preach!!!!!👏🏻
It’s crazy that people still throw dirt when none of the folks he supposedly wronged harbor ill will towards him.
@@nikig2382 Justin is totally up for a reunion, but now it’s JC who is against it. It’s crazy how they’re scapegoating Justin for everything.
He sounds just like jc in this interview and I cant unhear it.
we're too used to his early whiny voice lol
He and JC use the same word choices and inflections. I noticed it often and came looking for this comment.
I didn’t hear it until I read this comment & now I can’t I hear it lol
JC is mentioned at these time stamps: 18:00; 44:40; 48:55; 01:18:00; 01:39:55
You’re welcome 😉
Awesome interview!!

It makes me sad that they ended when they did.. they were so successful why couldnt justin stay 😢 JC deserved so much more
There's an interesting article if you google it on why JC didn't achieve mainstream success with his debut solo album.
@@MattyDemelloThat wasn’t the main factor. It was also the very public relationship with Britney and breakup with Britney.
Because Justin Timberlake is better than NSYNC 😊😊😊....
if Nsync did have a reunion, it would have to be something different. it cant be the whole same bsb, nkotb shit. i dont know what that is. but i know it would be have to be something unique. especially with where JT is in his carrier.
The way nkotb came back was genius. Nsync could do the same thing
You obviously didn't hear BSB's music past Black and Blue. Every single album has been very unique and different form their teen pop days.
Imagine a reunion tour with Backstreet Boys, *NSync and Britney Spears. The money that would make .
never gone happen leave nsync alone
@@naimahersi4292 don’t tell me what to do
I think jt wouldn’t do it unless it was just *NSYNC
It’s Possible For that to happen Hopefully
And new kids on the block

Yes JC had the voice and some moves but JT was more marketable hence all the money got thrown at his solo career.
More marketable because he dated britney...
Justin's singing also got way better after he left the group
JC is a better vocalist
Jc was superior in every aspect and deep down y’all know it but don’t wanna accept it! Y’all are mad weird for adults!!
JT had the right producers is really what it was. JC needed the right people behind him but his project was all over the place. No solid direction.

The Pop star Justin Timberlake was on tour on his Man Of the Woods Tour to support his 2 sons and his wife Jessica Timberlake
They have actually said that it's JC that's preventing a comeback of nsync
I don't think it's that he didn't care for *NSYNC anymore, but that as a musician he had other interests and wanted to explore other avenues. I think him leaving comes across as him hating the group or something, but he probably just had different interests and ideas he wanted to explore down the line. It's like doing only group art projects, and then wanting to a project on your own for an idea that you have. People call him selfish but I think it's actually less selfish to explore your idea on your own than forcing your idea on 4 other members in the group. Especially if it's not something that may interest them...
