Simon is absolutely spot on as he is with the majority of things on this show. They earn an absolute fortune. If you asked the average man on the street if they would play two games in the space of 48 hours for 200K a week, they would snap your hand off. Broadcasters are the driving force behind football. If you don't like it, then take a pay cut.

As much it is important for players to have chritmas with their family, the problem here is it is a public holiday and almost 99 percent people dont work on 25,26.what use would it be to telecast game on the day most people will go to work on. This is the con of working as a footballer and they should consider it the moment they start their careers otherwise should have choosen a career that gives 25 and 26 off if this is such a big deal.

footballers are part time workers. henderson cries about only having 3 weeks off a year, most workers get 4 weeks off a year except they work all week long. footballers train for about 2-3 hours a day. that's barely part time work. so footballers in effect get far, far more free time than regular workers. and get to retire at 35 unlike regular workers who retire at 67. they're spoilt babies who have no concept

It has actually been so long since any of these footballers had financial worries that they seem to have forgotten that it can be a very real issue.
I have never felt stronger ill-will towards Jordan Henderson then I do now, he is someone that I admire greatly and seems like a very down-to-earth bloke but when he started talking about how tired all the players are and how they only get three weeks a year off, that's when it finally dawned on me that these lads are insulated from the real world and live in the clouds. In my old job every single week I was pushing well into 50 odd hours, getting no overtime and working like a dog, only to barely have enough for rent, food and electricity. And that's me in my early 20s, imagine someone who has done that for their entire life having the same issues hearing all these fools belly aching?
Pathetic, disgraceful, disgusting, amazing. They all need to make some sacrifices if they really want to bet behind this movement, can't have your cake and eat it too. But somehow I can't see any of them voluntarily taking a massive pay cut to get what they want.

Its' a Christmas miracle! I'm actually in total agreement with Simon Jordan for once I'm all for players welfare but playing less games is ridiculous. 2 hours work every 3 days or so. Try working 8 hours 5 days a week on a building site, when you're hungover most days (because your life is so s**t and you get such little free time). Carrying bricks and concreter slabs, for less than £350 a week when some footballers get £350.000 a week. I notice it's always managers like Pep and Klopp or mediocre players that complain. Never here the great players moaning. NHL players play 5 games a week. An average NHL player skates 5kms game. 82 game regular seasons. 16-28 playoff games if you wanna win the Stanley Cup. Ice hockey takes far more toll on your body than football. But do they moan about? F**k no! Because they're not primadonna's who roll over like they've been shot and love the game. It's clearly just a job for a lot of these players. If I could work less hours in my crappy labourers job for the same money, of course I'd do it. But if I was any good at football, I'd play every other day for free and love every second of it. Which there are a few players I know who play no league football at a decent enough level on Saturday afternoon, they then play over the marshes on Sunday morning, and then sometimes might play in the week. Plus they have jobs. And they do all this for free and because they love football. And trust me if some premiership players took a Dean Bouho tackle. Then they wouldn't be rolling around pretending to be hurt. They'd be motionless because they would be hurt. Shut and play the game. And if they do go on strike then f**k em. We'll all go watch our local bon league team. Better atmosphere and more entertaining football in non league anyway nowadays. F**k modern football.

Simon is flatly wrong here. That 80% is turnover/revenue. It doesn't include the buying and selling of clubs, which are assets worth billions, often. Club owners in the PL make far more money than players. Simon knows this. Or maybe he doesn't, as he failed to make money in football.
The value of clubs in the PL is increasing year on year. Due to the money the PL makes. eg. our owner at Leeds bought the club for ~100mil or something, 4 years later it's worth 4 times that, and he's selling up, having made, bare minimum, 100mil. Far more than any player makes. This is why the vulture capitalists are buying up PL clubs. To make money. Spurs' owner and Levy bought the club for a pittance. It's now worth over a billion quid.
Even Abramovich has likely come out with a profit, despite all his investment. So too the Saudis.

I believe Abramovich has invested a Billion of his own money but the club is now valued at 3.5 billion pounds and that valuation was 3 years ago. The club may be worth even more now. Football is an extremely profitable business

@@petersmith2522 Fella Abramovich wanted to sell the club in 2019 a d reportedly went to an American Bank to broker the deal. That bank valued the club at 3.5 billion pounds. I reckon qualified bankers know a lot more about this than you mate 😂😂😂

@@Mg-it9hv Yeah, and he bought the club for just 140mil. Even accounting for inflation he's coming out with a huge profit.
And a good chunk of that investment and has gone into facilities. As that's the only thing owners can invest in freely. Transfers/wages etc are capped by FFP.
So that's where a large % of the money you pay for TV subscriptions, tickets, merchandise goes. In the pockets of club owners and directors.

It's the managers and the clubs who are overworking the players to succeed in the league. If they care about player's welfare they should rotate them, but they won't, coz everyone wants to win the league. #getonwithit #GOWI

Simon is in the right here, if you really are worried about the games, just dont play for top 6 club then you have only 38 games plus cups. Players want the millions, the glory and adulation, these squads have 25 world class players 2 full squads plus 3 subs. Liverpool made 10 changes in the Carabao cup and now dont have a game until 28th. Pep can play 2 teams that would both be favourites for the premier league. They also have a set of U23s who have also premier league experience. Just rotate the squads if the quality drops a little its the same for everyone so be it

i think players and managers do not understand certain football implications outside of the locker room and this could be an opportunity of educating them from the club owners instead of it being a case of players and managers against the owners, FA etc. At the end of the day games need to be played, whether changes are made with the amount of subs that are allowed or replay cup fixtures, these games still need to be played as they have various impacts on clubs, junior players, fans, sponsors etc.

I do agree there’s a lessening of high level performance when it’s crammed broadly speaking
And best in mind so Manger wants his team to loose so they all want top level performance...but as Simons pointing out-the evolution of all these top teams and managers etc all getting this much money is because of the current format.
I know it’s not the point but I remember as a kid in 85-86 Utd played 3 games in 5 days....
And half were still drunk haha
