When remembering Q's magical journey started with actual sleight of hand magic, one can realize why his specialty turns out to be minor-mendings. He's the most gifted when it comes to physical manipulations in a small scale, just like one does when performing sleight of hand magic.

I just started reading the book recently, and in the book, Josh actually made the black hole! Everyone was drunk asf and he was like, "LOOK WHAT I DID!!" and they were all terrified

This scene and the scene with Margo telling Quentin; "Margo Hanson : There's this thing about you, Q. You actually believe in magic. Quentin Coldwater : So does everyone. Margo Hanson : No. We all knows it's real, but you believe in it. And you just love it, pure and simple." (In my view) shows how Quentin was the only true "Magician" on the show, the rest of them were just powerful magic users, travellers, or gods.
This show had so much potential to really delve into the dark side of people and the absolutely awe inspiring/terrible things these magicians can do. Yet they went the route of haha friendship then killed the main character while splashing in some more serious things like Margo losing an eye and Eliot dying. There's literally two (If not more, I didn't even watch the last season) musical episodes where they literally just start singing.
I loved this scene because TV Quentin finally got a moment to shine. Usually everyone else oneups him. S3 had a few good moments, but it was more of moral booster or lore keeper sort of thing, whereas everyone else was showing actual skills.
In an interview over the summer, Jason mentioned how Quentin was going to come back with the wisdom of 100 years as he spent in Fillory Past, something like that. Basically saying he was going to appear much more grown up.

I really liked that he had a scene where he looked really skilled in something. The others tend to outshine him when it comes to skills.

I went absolutely crazy, they said a lot of 3rd book inspiration for this season, and this was an awesome rendition of the beginning of the 3rd book. This plus the Raven being there made me so gosh dang happy. Show continues to impress always improving.
Well, you would have to master probability spells before and then be smart enough to beat magicians who have been practicing magic for decades and have played this game for all their life. Pretty difficult indeed.
For those of you who don't know. Bobby Darin was the guy who wrote and sang, Splish Splash, and Beyond the Sea. So how the hell did those cuff links kill him? If you read his bio on Wikipedia and the events that led up to his death, I think it is safe to say that those cuff links are bad luck, like really bad.
@@TheMagiciansLoveXI'm guessing one of the doctors that operated on him was a magician who wore those cufflinks (at a guess they Abzorb bad luck but need to be periodically discharged) would ensure your surgeries always went well but if he hadn't discharged them recently or forgot well
This was one of my favorite moments from the book I'm actually so glad that they put it in. Now that they have the coins and we've seen the bird I'm just hoping that they work in the briefcase heist.

Its nice how they incorporate a game that you would think that people who don't have magic would only play. Like how harry potter books and films had their own games that were original but this incorporates normal nonmagic things into the show.
I love how even when he had a chance to bring a King. He still allowed some fairness by using a queen. Ik it's also because of Alice's face but I like to read it as him giving his opponent some fair play

Do book readers know who/what the "monster" ist that occupies Eliots body? No spoilers please. I am just curious how close the series is to the books because season 1 and 2 were not that close according to comments and they said they wanted to make it closer to the books. I am still afraid to read the books because everyone says the show is better and I don't want to ruin the story for me.
Who said they wanted it to be closer to the book version? The last interview I saw with Sera, she said it was "based on", and the books did provide some plots we might see develop but my impression was it was not going to be closely affiliated with the books, including book 3. Did I miss something?

There is “so much” of Book 3 in the upcoming Season 4, he explains, and also in Season 5-because, as McNamara sees it, Grossman “brought everything to a chiseled, smashing completion. I’m really happy that we may be doing more of a strict adaptation this [next] year than ever before.” I thought this means they stick closer to the book but I couldn't find another source saying that soo I guess it was wrong. I can't say for certain whether it is an effect. It's very feasible that it is not an effect. People are able to shoot cards off a deck the way Quentin is and the way the card flies is realistic for that technique. The amount of quick cuts in the scene can mask the actor does not have to make it consistently. I would imagine Jason Ralph was already good/had training in card manipulation, so there is a good case for it not being an effect, but it's entirely possible it is one.
