It's a Platinum action title. The story isn't supposed to be the main focus, the action is. Go play Bayonetta or The Wonderful 101. The stories are just as short. However, the stories all feel fun and exciting, and the short nature of those stories help that feeling.
They weren't. All bosses parallel Raiden in something, one way or another. Sam, being the only one of the Winds of Destruction to use the same weapon as Raiden, works as a sort of goal he needs to achieve and surpass, in order to finish his mission. If he defeats Sam, then there's still a chance Armstrong can be stopped. If he loses yet again, then that's that, end of story. Besides, both of them have these points about self-betterment and all that jazz, so yeah. Raiden's biggest rival... is simply Armstrong.

This is more then just an amazing song. Throughout the game Sam presents himself as a cheeky and laid-back antagonist. Lyrics of this song conveys what actually is happening in his head. That he is on verge of losing sanity and already lost his sense of self by being basically forced to commit villainy. His cheeky persona is just a coping mechanisms. Obviously, he cannot afford to convey this directly with words, that deep inside he is battling even greater demons most of us cannot even imagine, because that would be out of character for him honestly, nobody would teke him seriously. That's where lyrics come in. During first encounter this song is purely instrumental, during final encounter we get the full scope. This is the reason why he was willing to relinquish his sword to Raiden should he defeat him. A final attempt at redemption. Truly a masterpiece.
and the fun thing is Raiden held him self to like minded morals to Sam before he was forced into his villainy, and at first Raiden was a little apprehensive of the idea of vengeance but in reality he was just going as intended and with the use of Sam's blade he did complete the fallen swordsmen's last wish of doing the entire world some good. putting a end to a basted who deserved it. in short raiden had given sam his last wish by taking care of a true evil. one that has caused both of them endless amounts of pain.
Its hilarious to me that there are two groups regarding MGR's music. The people who know it slaps, and those who think its awful but "so bad its good" meaning they're just in denial of how much they love it.

Sometimes companies and players underestimate how much a good soundtrack can change your entire game experience, this game is one example, where the soundtrack is incorporated in the plot and it slaps. Payday 2 Is another example, where the soundtrack is incorporated in the gameplay itself and dictates the pace of combat and it slaps too.
Celeste is a pretty good example, too, even being just an indie game. It's progressional music, meaning it gets layers or changes instruments, etc. while still keeping the same general structure as you make your way through the level. Not to mention the songs by themselves are absolute bangers.
I just realized something that might be intentional or not, but when summit (the peak of a mountain) is translated into Japanese, you get Samitto, which could be shortened to Sam. And as you can hear in this song, some of the lyrics are about climbing a mountain to it's highest point, or in other words, it's *summit.* Or I may be over analyzing this, wouldn't be suprised if I was.
Well mean the whole thing with Sam is he dedicated his life to takin down crime organizations, He pushed himself day after day just to get where he was at (in turn he climbed many mountains aka Limits) just to end up getting screwed over by a guy with nanomachines and forced to work with him.
Amazing how Sam is less of a cyborg and more of a normal man with an exoskeleton, much like how he's outwardly confident while his song reveals he is actually very doubtful of himself.

I always considered whether it was possible if Raiden and Sam could have worked together against Armstrong or if Sam even could have changed his ways if he defeated Raiden and decided to go to Pakistan himself, but then I realized that if Raiden never defeated Sam he would have likely died against Armstrong as his will to fight wouldn't be fully formed.

This is more then just an amazing song.
Throughout the game Sam presents himself as a cheeky and laid-back antagonist.
Lyrics of this song conveys what actually is happening in his head.
That he is on verge of losing sanity and already lost his sense of self by being basically forced to commit villainy. His cheeky persona is just a coping mechanisms.
Obviously, he cannot afford to convey this directly with words, that deep inside he is battling even greater demons most of us cannot even imagine, because that would be out of character for him honestly, nobody would teke him seriously.
That's where lyrics come in.
During first encounter this song is purely instrumental, during final encounter we get the full scope.
This is the reason why he was willing to relinquish his sword to Raiden should he defeat him.
A final attempt at redemption.
Truly a masterpiece.
and the fun thing is Raiden held him self to like minded morals to Sam before he was forced into his villainy, and at first Raiden was a little apprehensive of the idea of vengeance but in reality he was just going as intended and with the use of Sam's blade he did complete the fallen swordsmen's last wish of doing the entire world some good. putting a end to a basted who deserved it. in short raiden had given sam his last wish by taking care of a true evil. one that has caused both of them endless amounts of pain.

Sometimes companies and players underestimate how much a good soundtrack can change your entire game experience, this game is one example, where the soundtrack is incorporated in the plot and it slaps.
Payday 2 Is another example, where the soundtrack is incorporated in the gameplay itself and dictates the pace of combat and it slaps too.
Celeste is a pretty good example, too, even being just an indie game. It's progressional music, meaning it gets layers or changes instruments, etc. while still keeping the same general structure as you make your way through the level. Not to mention the songs by themselves are absolute bangers.
