  • Is there a lost silver mine deep in the wilderness of Michigan's desolate Upper Peninsula? According to Richard Kellogg there is! He's been there and he left his mark hundreds of feet underground to prove it...but now he can not find it....despite retracing his steps time and time again! Here is his story as seen on Michigan Magazine...Co-host Dell Vaughan sat down and talked with Mr. Kellogg who relates the tiniest details to our TV cameras about this MOTHER LOAD in part one of THE WALL OF SILVER

Massive deposits of native Silver have been found. In Cobalt Ontario there is a 2 foot wide slot in the rock where Silver was extracted. It is 20 or more feet long and goes down at least 30 feet. When it was discovered on the surface, they called it the Silver sidewalk.

I am afraid I'll have to question this story I have lived in Michigan's Copper Country (in Michigan's UP) for near on 80 years now and have been roaming the backwoods and back roads of the area including the Calumet area, Quincy Mining area and just about all the local mining area.I never found any silver mother load, so in my opinion. it sounds like some pipe dreams or a great imagination

My great great grandfather was a mining captain in the UP in the 1860's. I have in my possession, original, hand drawn maps of his assays, proving that what is told in this video to be true. I've been there many, many times and the entrance has been blocked for years due to the rock falls. It sits on private property, so if you go hunting for it, prepare to meet the ire of a Yooper. They don't know whats close by and they don't care. They just like their privacy.

C/h did over 90 diamond drills on the old Cliff Mine property n did not find anything other than traces of copper.. from the way it is described in the book it is geologically impossible, a quote from the copper handbook volume 1 +2 by Stevens.the copper found in the Upper peninsula was always in the occurrence with copper as a by-product, in the history of The Cliff Mine the u.s. mint recorded over $80,000 worth of silver credited to the cliff account. And you cannot find any references any businesses that purchase silver from the miners, these interest in Chicago that got rich off of silver would have had to have a local purchaser to buy the silver I am sure the niners did not journey to Chicago to sell bits of silver. I work at white pine mine and in the refinery we used to see bits and pieces of silver come off the end of wiffle table, but that happen maybe one's ever two months. Cobalt and lead was the by-product. Similar to Galena, even out of the ore that was brought in at the end of the plant from Canada and ran through the electrolysis plant for refinement. There was traces of nickel an Cobalt in the sludge of the tank,s which was barreled up and sent to a refinery in Canada to reclaim a nickel and Cobalt. I suggest everyone study up on geology of the copper mines n compare the geology to the geology of the silver mines in the u s .

It's really there but it was dynamited and most of the inside collapsed. There is an air shaft that people use to get into it. It is barely big enough for a person to fit thru and atleast 500 ft. long. about 45 degree slope downwards. There is a lot of easier places than this to get silver tho. It just takes a little ambition, which people around here seem to be a little short on.

    • @johnh7455

Since when is it illegal to sell precious metals? Jewelers and pawn shops do it all the time. Not to mention banks. There might be issues with paying taxes on it, but I don't think it's illegal to sell and buy ore. Also, he says the miner saved his bar, that they agreed to split 50/50, but he doesn't say what was in it for the miner. Why give half of his ore away? Interesting story, but more than a few holes in it. If there was that much silver in the mine, one of the mining companies that leased it would have gotten it out. That's why they lease mines. to mine the ore.

Hell, silver is always in conjecture with gold. I forget exactly where, maybe Arizona, 2 miners sold their mine because they never found gold. What they didn't know was the worthless rocks they had excavated held silver. The guy who bought the mine knew what the worthless rocks held after looking at them & listening to what the miners described. That mine eventually held one of the largest pay offs in silver in these here United States!! It is all in the rocks & tailings.
