I'm glad this video came up on my feed. I have tried to find you on you tube before, but nothing came up. I loved the series on PBS. I subscribed and are looking forward to what is next. You are the best woodworker I have ever seen on TV. But Norn was first.
I watched every episode when they first aired and remember being very let-down when the show didn't renew. It has been great catching the reruns here. Thanks for helping me visit yesteryear and your talents as a craftsman.
What an absolutely stunning piece of timber coupled with a challenging and refined form. This was easily my favorite piece from the series when it originally aired.
Thanks very much Charlie! I have been shooting new content but my challenge is in creating new Libraries in iMovie.I continue to study the interface which doesn't use the usual folders system.
My friend there is a lot of this type of big leaf maple along the northern west coast of California up into Oregon,Washington and Canada. I’m glad to hear that you also appreciate the beauty of figured big leaf maple which is one of my favorites.
So beautiful! Any chance you’ll share your recipe for the tung oil, blo, polyurethane finish? Really impressed with the warmth and depth of it even on video; of course that slab of maple was incredible, too!
Hey David, thanks very much for your comments. The finish that I have been using is Seal-A-Cell and Arm-R-Seal by General Finishes. It’s essentially a thinned wiping varnish. The key to good results with any finish is surface preparation and I sand everything to 400 grit or greater despite what the instructions on the can. I also have a finish room in my shop that I maintain at 75 degrees which ensures that the finishes dry with clarity.
Good morning First of all, congratulations for your professionalism, respect and passion for wood. You gained another subscriber. I loved this characteristic Japanese bench. Will it be possible to make templates and measurements for this bank available? Hugs from Portugal.

Not sure how this suddenly showed up in my algorithm, but I’ve seen every episode of his show years ago. Very cool to see this again.

@DavidJMarks New content will be great, David. I would help if I could, but I've never used imovie.
I remembered when this first aired. I don't think I had ever seen such figured beautiful wood before

I've been away from the woodshop for awhile now.. This has inspired me to go dust off a certain spalted maple birdseye slab I have ...
Thanks Dave!

I tried hitting the like button twice but it doesn't work
Huh,I'm not sure what happened but one thing I know about computers is to turn them off, wait 5 minutes, then turn it back on and it will probably work.
