Imagine spending your whole life gladhanding and bribing your way into a position where you can live like a king off corruption, and it all comes crashing down because your spoiled brat can't keep his trap shut.
It sadly doesn't work that way in authoritarian governments. You're mistaken if you think that any government official is held accountable to the public. They are held accountable to their boss. They can quite literally hit and run someone with a car to death and not be held accountable. This isn't western democracy, closest thing to imagine would be feudal societies with different castes of people.
Side note: as a society, we need to stop admiring ppl for their wealth. Don't like posts of people bragging their "riches".. Don't look at ppl driving super cars. Don't even attempt to buy brand name clothes. It just encourages behaviours like this.

This was the same in my country Czechoslovakia. Even in first generation of communist officials, the new aristocratic elite emerged steeped in nepotism and kleptocracy. They were the ones who got the best stuff even from abroad including “capitalist” education of their children in western universities. Sadly after the communist regime fell these were the people with capital stashed and experience of businesses/connections - that they deprived the rest of the population - who got on top under new “free” regime. They brought the things like corruption over to the new economy. The situation gets better bit by bit but even two generations after the fall of socialism the effects are still seen. China is really in a bad place for decades to come with corruption so deeply entrenched even if the political situation improves.

If you try to rock the boat in the U.S. the paid rioters that are paid to pretend to be protesters will beat you up and kill you. The government hires people to go be violent at protests so the police can use more force to make it disperse. Who else does this? China. I always find it amazing how culturally different Taiwan and China are. I guess that's what happens when sophisticated polite society is toppled by peasants and the peasants suddenly rule. They are far too removed from classical Chinese values - one of which is humility. I was reading an article about how understated Taiwanese with wealthy tend to be. The manager of Hermes in Taipei mentioned that Taiwan is the one market where they must keep a supply of brown paper bags for customers who make purchases but do not want to be seen with the obvious orange Hermes bag. I remember meeting the boss of a successful company I collaborated with in Taipei. The nice white Benz he picked me up in looked just like one he had for years, but when I got inside I realised it was brand new. I asked him if he considered another car/model? Nope - because he didn't want anyone to notice that he actually had a new car.

In 1993-1995 I had a project that was running in 8 cities across China... but the difference between Guangzhou (far South) and ChangChun (far North/Manchuria) was striking. In Guangzhou I would arrive at the office to meet with our collaboration partners and immediately we would discuss work. If we shared a meal together conversation would come back to work and when it was over they were happy to have me go back to my hotel. It was practical and stuff got done. But in Changchun, I would make an arrangement to meet in the office in the morning, but they would figure out which flight I would be flying in on the night before because there weren't so many flights from Hong Kong - they would surprise me at the airport and want to take me out for dinner - like 6-10 people with lots of alcohol - and if work came up they would say "we talk work tomorrow!" They were incredibly generous and warm natured... obsessed about taking care of me like they were all my aunties and uncles. Meetings started late and we greeted each other and talked about personal stuff for a while before getting down to business. I LOVED working in the North, but you really had to plan on things taking a lot longer. I found that warmer attitude from Beijing and North of Beijing (Shenyang + Changchun). Those areas in the North seemed less focused on money as the root of a person's value and more focused on culture and relationships. Quite different....

Sadly after the communist regime fell these were the people with capital stashed and experience of businesses/connections - that they deprived the rest of the population - who got on top under new “free” regime. They brought the things like corruption over to the new economy.

No, it’s more likely that they have a huge bank balance. Chinese tend to spend what they can afford in my experience
It depends, an Asian with a nice car and young is probably poor but if they are older and only have like a designer bag and a nice car, they are probably rich.
Same as it ever was.
Now have Talking heads stuck in my head, thanks for that
I'm sorry I'm confused why would this dude throw his dad under the bus was he honestly that naive? I'm only 2 minutes in but I'm always blown away when I hear comments like these being made on the internet. It's so bad it almost sounds like a setup
Its about face and because they know they wont suffer any consequences. China is that corrupt.
Because he simply doesn't think he puts it in any danger. He really feels confident enough that no matter what he said, the party (or his dad) would bail him out.
I knew an American girl who boasted to the staff she didn't get transferred to another site because her father who was a judge personally paid a visit to our boss and insisted that she should stay where SHE liked. We were over staffed yet the boss created a new position to placate the judge.
I love what they are doing! Go kids and show all the crimes of your parents to the world! Hahaha!
I hope the ppl do not lay down but rather rise from their oppression and find fairness and equality
Keep hoping. It ain't gonna happen.
You know this episode will be good.
I found this article, and it was a fascinating read; thanks for directing me to it. Thank you for sharing your fascinating experience with your colleague, as well.
@TrollToll - LOL - not quite, but yet, kind of. LOL - It was the updated version of his old model - just not so obvious. I am not a "car guy" but I noticed after a bit that it had some new features, etc... But it didn't jump out as a different car. And yes, that was done on purpose not to flaunt.
@@winterwhite110507 Ahhh... cool you found the article. Yes, it was an interesting read. I was raised in Taiwan, and spent the last 12 years in Hong Kong and have been traveling all over mainland China for work since 1993. It's amazing how culturally different the 3 are... but also different areas of mainland China are quite culturally different.
Taipei is the stealth wealth of Asia. Unlike hong kong
@@Mrembo2024 - Yes.... you can certainly feel the difference.
They don't even know my dad works for Nintendo smh
🤣
Best comment 🤣
Ohh so this is the explanation. I watched this series a lot of times (Addicted) and wondered why this one guys goes to ask government officials for rediculous favors (even taking someone else's dog) and is being granted everytime. . . It's because he's a second gen richkid with a very influential father that no one can say no to him. . .
There are a bunch of these kids living in luxury apartments in San Fran. LOL
Thats what happens when you live in a morally corrupt society
They do not have any moral doctrine in their history. Christianism established a moral standard. And yet corrupt people do virtue signalling and deceive Christians. ou can see catholic politicians supporting abortion and being tolerated by their church. Our nations are rotten too, because being corrupt became trendy and normal.
I dont believe the average Chinee Citizen is corrupt...just the Government and the 'civil service'....BREAK THE TABLE
China and America.....same shit !
I wear a watch worth more than the blood, sweat and tears of 2,400 countrymen. Yes, and this is suppose to be a Communist workers Paradise.
Flaunting is very much a part of Chinese culture. How else to bring glory and honour to one's family if no one knows of your "achievements"?
This is why I think whether a country calls itself communist or capitalist is irrelevant
Communist in name but capitalist in practice. But one thing is a must... to condemn the west!
They're a communist controlled capitalist. You get to practice capitalism but managed by the party. Just ask Jack Ma, he's gone.
No this is simply a symptom of out of control government. The difference between capitalism and communism is communism, because of the government controls, starts with way more power and an easier path to corruption. In a capitalist society the politicians can't just jail the wealthy.
When it comes down to us normal citizens it don't matter cause it's the governments that control everything.
To a greedo? Yeah it matters little. But make no mistake there's a big difference between open markets and state monopolies
Thank you so much !!
They are ratting out their criminal parents. This is hilarious. Out of the mouth of babies
Hahahaha, Ratting out their dad while trying to show off. Priceless.
Beyond the oppression of the CCP itself, lack of social and economic mobility appears to be another driver for the skilled middle class wanting to leave.
Whether the CCP allows it at all is another equation altogether.
Compare to donald trump this is peanuts
@@matrixlim3042 Say what you want, but that’s a flat out lie. America is more like China today than ever before. Social media surveillance, censorship of speech, unfair taxes that ruthlessly beat down small business and IRS agents equipped with weapons and authority to shoot to kill.
“DO NOT MAKE ME INTO A SECOND UNCLE!”
Nouveau Chinese Proverb
When l was a teenager l thought corruption was business as usual and everybody knew. My dad wasn't involved, but he knew about it and told me.
These rich kids dry snitching on their parents and not even realizing it!
Ugh. I went to school with kids who bragged like this.
Gotta make up for short stature and a little wang somehow
Punch them, money can't shield you from punches aye?
@@ryukomatoi163 As someone who attended a private school where most rich people would send their kids, yes, yes it can.
It's an everyday thing now. It's sick and that's why we don't like rich people...
Gross. An 8k watch is cheap. A 2k suit is cheap. If you gonna flaunt, save up some more
What the second guy did was basically post how corrupt his dad was on instagram 🤦♂️
Funny thing is the clothes are probably Chinese knock offs hahaha
Shit always floats to the top.
All I’m going to say is- the day the people of China have enough of this, there will be severe consequences for the people profiled in this video.
as a person living in post comm country i assure you there will be no consequences. they will get away with it, pretend like it never happened and brag less but they will keep stealing but will find ways how to do it legally.
It will be worst. Power has no substance. Powerful people think power is obtained by removing competitors. But no. That is not how it works.
Nothing will happen. They all are suffering from a country wide Stockholm Syndrome. They will always blame "anti-China foreign forces" and never say a word to CCP itself.
This is how sick Chinese culture is!
To be corrupt is a bad enough thing but to flaunt it is simply despicable. Here in the Philippines, flaunting one's wealth is generally frowned upon so the genuinely old rich won't be caught flaunting their wealthy lifestyle. Think the Zobel-Ayala's, the Henry Sy Clan, the Villar's, Soriano's, Golongwei's etc. There are a few nouveau riche celebrities like Gretchen Barretto, Ruffa Gutierrez, and that wife of Sen. Chiz Escudero what's-her-name, who would post on social media their signature-designer-laden-personal-belongings closets. Glad that cheap isn't generally celebrated here.
It's not just frowned upon, it's illegal under certain circumstances under the Civil Code (Art. 25)...
@@theotherohlourdespadua1131 Thanks, I didn't know that. I guess that goes with the unexp[lained wealth thing?
They still humble brag though and still control the media to advertise beauty products, brands and stupid shows instead of useful things like education. At least it's not done obnoxiously but still
@@theotherohlourdespadua1131 Would explain why my filthy rich bro-in-law was raised to believe his family was always poor. Lool. His family isn't old rich like the giant old family in Philippines. His family earned it through business. XD

Young 2nd Gen, Keep doing it. I encourage you to keep going!
KEEP IT UP!
Bcoz you will feel the fury of the ordinary people one day when you are tied up & liquidated.
DEMOCRACY NOW FOR CHINA!
Wow. THis kid just created some major Karma for himself.......not that his father has already got bad Karma with his corruption. In the after life, the only way to fix this bad karma is to come back to earth in a different body and live in poverty. Everyone is held accountable by the Universe.
And if not? What's your proof of this theory?
What if all that is, is here and now and what we make of it.. would it allow us all to be ruthless, greedy animals?
Is the fear of being punished in the 'next life' all that holds YOU back from letting the sociopath that rests in your out and do his thing?
Are you that dangerous for society, for the people and life around you?
A nice thought, however you can have a happy meaninful life in poverty, and a sad and empty life being rich, a universal karma may be more nuanced.
@@joansparky4439 It's just a belief they have, the majority of the population can't steal anything without feeling bad. Also, you can just say that you don't believe the universe equalized everyone that's fine but you should still respect other people's beliefs
@@flannelsone1159
I question his moral/ethical foundation. If fear of punishment by some universal omnipotent Karma is all that makes him behave social, caring, loving.. then it's not really true, is it?
I must assume he's faking empathy to not get punished.
That's a very very sad existence IMHO.
So the moment he stops believing into this kind of punishment, will be the moment he becomes a danger for anyone around him. How's that for 'respecting others peoples beliefs'?
How can people brag about money when it isn't even yours is all from daddy 🤣🤣
Was just watching a video where all the comments were saying "I hate the Chinese government but feel bad for the people". No, some of them need to be put down too.
No amount of money is going to help these kids in a few years when everything goes bad.
