Everything that you show is awesome and I'm all in. I"ll be getting it all. What's even cooler is that that I break stuff and keep poles, rods and other little pieces that I see use for with all the stuff in your video!
i have a swivel adapter for a speedlight although i use mine to hold my rotolight neo LED inside a wetcott Halo (umbrella).. the rest look facinating ..will have to check some of them out..thanks ..great video
I am loving these "grip" videos! Seems like everyone one of them has at least one item that I decide to add to my arsenal. Keep up the great work and thanks for giving back.
Hi Sir. Yes I use different clamps for my gear, because I use both Studio flashs and speedlights together they are usefull and versatiles. Interesting stuff again M. Norton.
Daniel Norton Photographer thank you for all the videos. I’m a hybrid shooter. I love taking photos, I also enjoy taking video. I live in LA area and there are numerous photographers not to many videographer I mostly do video but when I’m called for a job. On one of your videos you mentioned that you love shooting. I have gone full days of shooting photos without getting paid a dime. When I can I do it just because of that reason that I love shooting photos that I sometimes do it for free. I just needed to get that out my system. Thanks for all the free information once again.
I have tons of these little problem solvers. Maybe you could do an essential grip for small location shoots video. I always seem to have brought the wrong stuff along and left the things that would help back at the studio.
I think that I have half a room full of bit and bobs that I have been butting to gather from the 1980 and I still find new stuff to add. Yes I may only use it once it a blue moon, but its just so nice to go and get that one clap, arm or.... just when you need it. Yes I love these sort of video and must add most of you videos are very good.
I often use a product similar to Photek SMA-1000 that you have but rather than having a cold shoe mount it uses a removable baby stud with 1/4 screw tip. I just screw the flash on and go. What I have been looking for is a better way to mount a clamshell set up on the same stand as my key light but just below it. I've looked at double articulating arms and all sorts of setups but anything I've found that is small and compact is rated 9 or so lbs. My head and softbox weigh exactly 9 lbs. This problem came into play when I got the B1X heads. They weigh a lot more than anything else I've ever used. I just don't get a warm fuzzy feeling using what I already have because of the extra weight. I have super clamps but no arm that's as small but sturdy as I want that can take the weight.
Here I do it (with the B2) with a super clamp - th-cam.com/video/or909ufozuA/w-d-xo.html - I think what you'd want is a - www.adorama.com/aed230.html - with a 20" arm and a 650 pin to give you some room for the B1X - that will hold
@@DanielNortonPhotographer I do quite a bit of advertising work where a grip crew is called and these guys have all sorts of cool little gizmos. Some are fancy, some are homemade. I often talk to them about what they use but the simple fact is that for most of my work I don't have that advantage and use simple setups. What I have works for me but when I need that little bit of extra something, it's just not there.
Very informative, thanks for the video. Do you, or would you ever, trust a stronger clamp for a monolight like the Orlit 610? Do you ever mount monolights on anything but proper stands? Thanks!
Do you ever use carts? I miss having my magliner carts and I also love flag carts and camera carts. I know it's more of a filming thing but I think lots of guys are doing video and small films these days. Maybe it's a great time for a visit to an expendable store.
I have a cart in the studio (a tool chest actually) but now that I work mostly in rental studios for large jobs and with a small crew on most jobs, I tend to just set-up a laptop on a Tether Tools Table and don;' carry so much grip to use a cart.
If people want to make good locking clamps, I would suggest they look at things like locking vice grips as a starting point...You can get these as cheap as chips these days, and being all metal they will last for ever...
Great video! Keep 'em coming... I love stuff like this. I can't tell you how much money I have wasted on my photography at Lowe's and Home Depot. Even more than at Adorama and B&H! I have messed up so many things experimenting with DIY. I just call it my "tuition" into photography school. Lessons learned.
Man, the dream would be to drop light stands and just rely on a set of Lowels and some magic arm based accessories as a wedding photographer 😂 I can imagine keeping a double fold umbrella for some super lightweight off camera lighting with speed lights in unconventional places, but I would love to 100% get rid of light stands but that’s just impractical at the moment 😂 also, I really hate to whine about video quality because i love content creators and their desire to put out so much free video content but from some reason your front camera just seemed to have much lower quality than the side camera, I have no idea what it is, both desktop and phone gave me the same results. Almost like the front camera was upscaled. I don’t know if it’s just me seeing things though. Anyways, love the content and wanna see more 😁
Thank You. Those are the clamps that I didnt know I needed but now thus video has given me several ideas to make my set up have a smaller footprint.
cool

you sound like me, I have a greta "box of parts" in my studio
Yeah Daniel. Keep 'em coming! Love learning about all these little problem solvers!
Thanks!
Always nice to learn a few new tricks - and what others use to get the job done when needed!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks, Daniel! I'm starting to collect more of these odds and ends, so I appreciate hearing about what you've found to be good. Gadgets...
Cool
I have only heard of a few of them. I can see where some of these would come in handy.
For sure
i have a swivel adapter for a speedlight although i use mine to hold my rotolight neo LED inside a wetcott Halo (umbrella).. the rest look facinating ..will have to check some of them out..thanks ..great video

Neat ideas, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!

very cool stuff love the videos keep them up . magic arm please
will do, thanks!
Love these short DIY tip videos!
Thanks!
Thanks for the great video. I'm familiar with most of these but it's the first time I have seen the Lowel Lobo! I can see how it can come in handy.
not something I use all the time, but I have one in each of my lighting bags
Hi Sir. Yes I use different clamps for my gear, because I use both Studio flashs and speedlights together they are usefull and versatiles.

Cool!
I use them as microphone stands. The ones I like are from small rig.
Cool

Ah, location grip bag - good idea
I use the magic arm with a clamp one side, and speedlight mount on the other works great 👌👌👏🙌
Cool!
Ok, now I’m seeing things I’ve not known about. Keep these videos coming. Thanks!
Cool!
Six speedlights and six of those adapters, keep 'em comin' Daniel.
Awesome
Do a vid on different canvas backdrops
Hmm, intersting, not sure I have access to that many (the good ones are preset pricey), but I can prob do an overview
Gorrilapod works well for dropping speedlites in odd places I've found. Not to mention Bungie cords when you want to stick them on a tree trunk.
good idea!
Yes, more of these. Thank you!!!!

Love this! this is all new to me! Daniel Norton aka MacGuyver!

Love these video's of tips some great ideas that show us alternative gear that we would not normally get to see !! 📸👍
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Daniel,i would you to recommend me what to use to put a B10 strobe on a tripod please?
A camera tripod? You just need a 5/8 stud with a female 1/4 20 - they often come with umbrella adapters
Daniel Norton Photographer ordering now , many thanks .
Hadn't run across the small Lowell clamps, do use Superclamps and the speed light/umbrella holders also with Superclamps.
nice!
Thanks for the tips. I've got to go online shopping next.
🛒
What about the best light stand of them all, the voice activated stand? They are priceless and usually run on coffee! lol
Ha ha, sometimes the best!
always informative !!
Thanks!

Yeah, I find I pick stuff up a little at a time for special set-ups and then incorporate it into my regular stuff.

Super clamp will hold that no problem or a Matthellini Clamp
Can't seem to find the Lowel ML12 or ML13 anywhere, including the link above. Does anyone know where these are available?
They may be getting phased out which would be bad - might have to do a DIY version
The Lowel Lobo looks interesting, but it’s “No longer available”
Any other product that can do the same job?
I’ve had some luck with a “super clamp grip head” / using the grip head on the stand the holding the boom with the super clamp - a bit bulky but works
When you start thinking how your going to use something while the video is going you know the teacher is doing a great job.
awesome

These are actually very helpful. Unfortunately, I almost always see at least one thing that I feel I really need. 🙂
ha ha, I am now buying more stuff to show
This is the one I use but on a stand. Not sure it would attach to an A-Clamp. Thanks! www.adorama.com/bgmlh1hs.html

Don’t say that too Loyd, front camera = Sony, side camera = canon 😉
"Anything can be a light stand with these cool clamps!"..Yea, anything can be a fork if you stab it hard enough.
Spoken like someone who has never actually been on a working set.
