How can expressing biological fact be 'hateful'? This guy - as Helen says - illustrates exactly the problem that will be faced after next week
He probably likes putting on his wife's stockings at the weekend. I can only think the men that support this crap have ulterior motives, why else would they push against reality and the right to free speech so vehemently? Same old, same old, men trying to shut women down. Never ends well.
Same sex gay men and lesbians will be impacted too, as apparently hateful and offence to say a lesbian doesn't have a penis and a gay man doesn't have a vagina.
It can be hateful in the minds of the people who hear it. This law specifically makes the offence something that happens within a complainant's mind. It need not happen anywhere else. There is no provision in the law for "reasonable person", that legal fiction, to feel offence. Only the person who feels offence need feel it, for this law to be invoked.

The sad fact is that a lot of people have been inculcated into a culture which denies the existence of objective truth, i.e. there is no such thing as 'the' truth - as established by demonstrable, verifiable facts - but only 'my' truth. People raised in this nonsense believe that when stating their own opinion, they are stating 'my' truth which must be offered unconditional respect and must never be challenged or dismissed or gainsaid. Therefore stating the biological truth about men and women is no defence against legal fiction or one's own feelings. If you think it's bad now, hang around for 10 years. I guarantee it will be a million times worse.
The way Helen stays calm in the face of such ignorance and, although I hate the term, "mansplaining", is so admirable. This assertion that refusing to deny biological fact is in some way hateful has got to stop.

Who was the individual politician, or politicians that initially proposed and drafted this law? Who were the backers of this? They should all be named so the people can deal with them appropriately at the ballot box by voting them out.
The legislation was proposed by the Scottish Government (SNP with support of Scottish Greens) and was passed by the Scottish Parliament in 2021. It had the support of both the Scottish Labour Party, the Scottish Lib Dems and most of the Scottish Conservatives. Who is there left to vote for?
Anyone else just completely unable to get over how bizarre and stupid this whole thing is? And how it just came out of nowhere suddenly about ten years ago, prior to which this just wasn't a thing, and now half the population is on board with it. It's just _weird,_ it's like being in the Twilight Zone.

India is a man because India is an adult human male. Criminalising people for speaking the truth is absolutely insane and has no place in our legal system.
It will be very interesting to see what happens when people living outside Scotland and not subject to Scots law think when they begin to fall foul of this legislation. As Helen correctly pointed out, not living in Scotland is no defence against the provisions of this law. Police Scotland can record a non-crime hate incident against you regardless of where you live. It may well provoke a campaign to force independence on Scotland by the rest of the United Kingdom. Not that this is what the SNP wants of course. Oh no, I couldn't possibly be that cynical.

india willoughby is a biological male and for me to say that is protected by law.
He should not be allowed to change his documentation, because if he became involved physically with another biological male, without divulging he is a 'trans' woman, he could seriously affect that mans mental health.
No sober, sane and truly straight man with eye-sight will be tricked (I'd argue blind men even less, as I would think blind people focus more on voices and are even beter at discerning male from female voices, but that is speculation on my part). Pressured, blackmailed, yeah, but not tricked.
The brain is really good at sniffing out frauds. And in my limited experience, male straightness is basically non-negotiable. As in, a straight woman will be much more open to the idea of fooling around with another woman. A straight man wouldn't make out with his best male friend if you paid him a million bucks for it (on average).
India might have some staged photos where he passes well, but in reality ... I've seen two of such specimens IRL.
They were put together very well, dressed well (as in the clothes were fitted well), clearly had a lot of work done (including huge boob implants)... and yet my brain (straight female speaking, at that time very unaware of the whole trans thing) immediately picked up that something was off, and as soon as they spoke, despite clearly making an effort to sound feminine, I was certain. And an about 5 year old boy also was confused, as he innocently asked 'are you a man or a woman'. To be fair, they were very chill about it, albeit it still a creepy cosplay of what those (clearly gay) men thought womanhood is.
And the truth is, most of them aren't that high-effort. Just recently, I noticed an obvious balding man in horrible female clothes (ill-fitting, not matching) from around 100m away when I was just walking home from the shops. I don't pay attention to people walking past me, yet my brain immediately picked up this abnormality in my peripheral vision, just from his silhouette, his walk. Yes he was tall and tall scews male, but I never mistook a tall woman for a man.

It is neither correct nor fair call people 'transphobic' if their objection is based on science, reason and facts. I am no more 'transphobic' than I am 'fascistophobic' or 'racistophobic'.
And I find it obnoxious to hear Matthew, a man, laying down the law to a woman on how she must define what a woman is. This is one of my fundamental objections to radical trans movement (not incidentally supported by all trans people) which seeks to rob women of the right to define themselves.

I really cannot understand how Useless managed to get Scottish MPs to vote for this. Surely the majority of Scots don't agree with this law.
The majority of Scots don't know about the law or don't care about it. They don't believe they will be caught out by it and of course won't even be aware that a non-crime hate incident has been recorded against them until they go for a new job, a promotion or seek to volunteer with vulnerable groups. When they submit requests to Disclosure Scotland and find they are unable to work, volunteer or change careers because of this new law perhaps people will pay attention then. Incidentally, this law was not just passed by SNP MSPs. It was supported by Labour, Green, LibDem and even some Conservative MSP. There are no sane people left in Scotland to vote for.
