    Man thats super awesome that your leadership was super supportive for you to get through nursing school while active duty. I am in the Army reserves and outside of really 1 senior NCO the rest constantly gave me issues while I have been in nursing school. Good to see you're a fellow service member and black man winning. Btw Go Army Beat Navy.

      Yea man I was in a great position to have the leadership I did and I took advantage of it. Did what I needed to do and they never bothered me. I always appreciate the support of another service member. Means alot. Navy will get it next year lol

    Thank you for this info! I'm going in as an HM, and I was curious on how to go about it. I'm really nervous for bootcamp, but I'm excited of the amazing opportunities the Navy has in store for me. Also, congrats on earning your BSN!!

      Word of advice. I’m a HN and there is a program where you can get a recommendation to E-4 by being in the top 10% in A-School of the class. TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. Use quizlets, study groups, and practice your labs. If you can obtain that the quality of life is better. E-4 pay, BAH depending on your base. Please do not be a terminal e-3 if you don’t plan on re-enlisting. This might be a bit much to understand but, trust me you’ll find out. You’ll love fort sam. Good luck and remember you 12th general order “don’t piss off your Chief”

      @@jjdbzfan18 thank you so much for the advice. I'm going in as an E3 bc I finished my associates in pre nursing and psychology. I'm planning on working hard to build a good foundation for myself and family. I'm just scared of bootcamp lol, but everything else is exciting.

      @@wednesday5132 bootcamp is simple. First thing is they’re going to yell and curse a lot the first 2 weeks are going to be fast but, doable. You’ll understand we all started off as boots. You’ll get acclimated real quick. Everything is temporary 8 weeks is nothing. Just listen and find other recruits to help you. The RDC’s are just actors they don’t really dislike you. Don’t count the days just focus on 1 more chow 1 less chow. You’ll understand.

    • @TheBootNurse

      Glad the video was helpful. Look up the prerequisites, then start taking those online or at a community college, once those are finished, try to find a nursing school online.

      If you speak failure into existence it will happen. While I'm not saying it was easy it was doable. Hard but doable. If the reserves is the way then make it so. Use whatever opportunity life provides you and conquer it no matter the circumstances. Keep pushing ☺️

    Hi there! I am considering joining the navy but pretty much have all my prerequisites for nursing school done. What would you recommend I do? I am applying to nursing schools and want to see if I get into any but if I don’t I really would like to join the navy. What job within the military would I be able to do while going to nursing school

    • @TheBootNurse
      @TheBootNurse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have all your prerequisites done and trying to get into nursing school, GO TO NURSING SCHOOL FIRST! Once you complete nursing school, then join the Navy. If you join now, it will set you back.

    • @TheBootNurse
      @TheBootNurse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First check your home of records board of nursing to see what school they have that are veteran friendly. They post them on their website. Then check Virginia's board of nursing and see what schools that are veteran friendly and if they are online.

    Is the navy nurse candidate program open to people who want to be in the reserves

    • @TheBootNurse

    How can I go to RN school while in active duty army I’m in AIT right now any advice how to. I don’t want to go reserve or guard cause living expense.

    • @TheBootNurse
      @TheBootNurse  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well since you're in AIT right now. That should be your main focus. However to answer your question. There are many ways to go to school while on active duty. Supportive chain of command, an online school, doing prerequisites at a community college, etc. Don't be afraid to go reserves are guard. I'm currently in the reserves and it's working wonders for me and people in it trying to do things. Hope that helps.

    I’m a 6 year enlistee in the airforce. I’m in my 1st year in my contract and I want to earn my BSN. How did you do your clinicals for nursing active duty. Isn’t a chance you may get deployed or TDY while in the nursing program.

    • @TheBootNurse
      @TheBootNurse  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's always a chance of deploying or TDY/TAD while in school. There are usually clauses for when deployments happen. Have to communicate that to your school. Clinicals were all done locally on the weekends.
