Rob this is such valuable information. I have been fishing a looooong time. This is the first year I have fished at Pyramid (seriously why have I not known about this place!). I fish nearly every weekend although blizzards sometimes keep me home. I appreciate at you and hope to see you on a lake sometime. I just moved closer to my favorite fishing places so the opportunity to see you out fishing becomes more of a possibility. Tight lines🎣
Bank Net Question - I am continuing to gear up for the East Sierras! Looking to spend some X-mas money. If you could buy the perfect Rubber Net with Long Handle to fish off the shoreline (not wading) at the East Sierras what brand and model would you use? Your videos have been great on providing info on how to fish the lakes up there. Thanks!
I honestly dont buy name brand nets. I usually get nets at Walmart or if Im out somewhere and I see a decent one thats inexpensive. My best suggestion is get a moderate size landing net with a rubber basket. Something that isnt too big for 1-2lbrs but big enough for the occasional toad if that makes sense 🤘
Well I have several and they are different sizes. All you need to do is break your rod down so its in two pieces then measure the length. They should have plenty of options that will fit your rods. If you have unusual length rods they can make custom stuff
I just recent bought a nice bag from Amazon...prime day was good. About 34 bucks for the one I picked and it's big. Holds 2 rods but I can fit 4. @seaspankeroutdoors do you have a tiktok?
Great video I now feel like an amateur hahaha ok ill start buying new stuff. Ill need help on buying stuff since I don’t have social media .. older crowd sorry
Typically Ill start with one that matches the color of the water. If its more brown looking Ill go with hatchery pellet or root beer for example or if its green looking bull frog or hulk. If that doesnt work ill go to something real bright and then try the real dark colors. Usually if you get a color that matches the water alot of times that works
Looking for advice on a mini jig set up. I've been fishing along time, but want to explore more of the mini jig fishing techniques. Hitting the sierras come this summer. My budget is around $250 for a rod and reel, thinking 7'6 rod and a 1000 series reel. Types, brands all welcome. Really enjoy your videos. Wish I could afford some of that gear you just reviewed. But I think I can come out ok on my budgeted amount. Appreciate your time Rob.
No worries at all. The rod choice for me is an easy one. The Daiwa Presso UL in either 7’6” or 8’. Outstanding rod for the money at $70-$80 depending on where you find it. Has the feel of a very high end rod for a very good price. The reels arent as big of a deal as the real fancy expensive ones are just must lighter than the others. That said Shimano Miravel 1000 is about $130 and has a 5.0:1 gear ratio which is ideal for retrieving mini jigs. If you have any other questions just let me know 🤘

4:59 -- Dude... you have GOT to ditch that clunky scissors setup and get the Boomerang braid cutting tool! It's only $20 or so and a total life saver. I've got five of them, one for each style of fishing I do: fly fishing, beach fishing, inshore/deep sea, fresh water, and a beater pair for when I'll be fishing in muddy conditions. The classic, short-nosed Boomerang tool is what I prefer. Just clip it to the front of your shirt collar, you won't even feel it. String retractor works great as long as muddy silt doesn't get inside of the device. About 18" of reach. The tool is right there at your collar always in case of emergenices.
