My hardware at the time of making the video:
    CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K 4GHz
    RAM: 16 GB
SSD: 512 GB Samsung 850 pro
    GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070
    Headphones: SteelSeries Arctis 5
    Mouse: Logitech G300s
    Joystick: Saitek X55
    Steering wheel: Logitech G27
    TV: LG 42LS560T
    October 2020 - October 2022:
    2020 HP OMEN laptop
    CPU: Intel Core i7 10750h
    RAM: 16 GB
    SSD: 512 GB
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070 Super Max-Q
    Headphones: Razer Blackshark V2
    Sound card: Creative SoundBlasterX G1
    Mouse: Logitech G300s
    Display: LG 27GL83A 27'' 144 Hz
    October 2022 until now:
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
RAM: 32 GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3600
    SSD: 2TB WD BLACK SN850 PCI-E gen 4
    GPU: AMD RX 6800
    Headphones: Razer Blackshark V2
    Sound card: Creative SoundBlasterX G1
    Mouse: Logitech G300s
Display: LG 27GL83A 27'' 1440p 144 Hz with FreeSync with 200% supersampling meaning the game is rendered at 5120x2880
Steering wheel: Logitech G29 (clutch pedal used as Zoom axis for FOV)
The laptop has worse performance than the old 2013-2017 desktop. I am planning to buy a modern desktop soon. I still think that a big TV is better for Arma. I've just received my current hardware for free from my employer, so I am using it for now.

Please check out the next Surround Sound video for more details on that topic.
Windows Sonic does not work anymore for Arma 3.

Thanks! Good tower campers are always a priority target for me. If not stopped, they can dominate the AO.

How would I setup the zoom in zoom out conttroller and where could I find it

You can buy a used joystick (normally used for aircraft control in sims) for 10 to 20 dollars on ebay or wherever you can buy used PC components in your country. They all have at least a throttle axis. You should verify with the seller that this axis works well. You map it like I've shown at 2:16 and it will work. Throttle suits this purpose because there is now spring there, when you move it to a position it stays there.
Some advanced joysticks, like the one I show in the video, have more than one axis without springs. Then you can still use the joystick to fly while dedicating one axis to Zoom.
But I myself have moved last year and since then I do not have any joystick. So I've invented another trick to fix my FOV. It does not give fine control, it just holds the zoom at -50% all the time, which suits me personally.
Sadly it also needs a device. This time a wired gamepad. I use Logitech F310, but even cheapest ebay gamepads will work. With this trick "Zoom in (continuous)" is not needed. You select one axis of the gamepad (I've chosen up and down axis of the right stick) and map "Zoom out (continuous)" to both up and down movements of that stick. This way the center position of the stick corresponds to half-zoomed-out view. And I do not touch the controller while playing, it just provides constant zoom out.
I am pretty sure there are options of using a purely virtual controller for that using vJoy or other tools. But I've struggled for a couple of days and failed.

Hey! And I was thinking, why I almost always manage to dodge your ASP fire XD But in fact M90 is not too bad of a mouse.

Anybody know of any good streamers on TH-cam that do third person or first?

  • @hazretimendel1158

    so first i need money

    • @lowskillcamper
      @lowskillcamper  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, money would help, but there are cheap or free options I am highlighting in the video.
Many people already have TVs which can be used in Arma. 40-inch 8-yea- old Full HD TVs are very cheap right now on the second hand market, and they work very well for Arma.
Surround sound can be achieved for free with Razer Surround and for relatively cheap with Sound BlasterX G1 sound card, which will also give decent sound quality as a bonus.
You can get very good performance using a CPU from 2012, if it has high frequency. G300s, the mouse I recommend, is 3 to 5 times cheaper than usual "gaming" mice. And it is not mandatory.
And a lot of other advice is just settings.
