If you are a fan of cosplay or LARPing, you need to watch their video for Brother. For pure 5-part harmony, How Great Thou Art is a master class. Love your reactions. Too bad you couldn't see them while they were there. They are fablous live. Austin's musical theater background is definitely on display here. And my favorite part - Adam's castanets. Really?
You said all the things I was planning to. Definitely watch Brother for the Cosplay. If you want to hear them do traditional five-part harmony without the percussion then you want How Great Thou Art (the only time you'll hear Adam's tenor singing voice alone) Brothers in Arms or Helplessly Hoping. You will have been told by others which names you got wrong, but I always remember Austin (red shirt) as the lad who is always a little bit extra. That is his theatre and cruise ship training no doubt. My favorite part of this production is also Adam's beatbox castanets as well as the costumes. The costumes are more impressive when you consider this was a quarantine video and they just threw together what they already had. Not surprisingly, our extroverts Austin and Tim were the ones who had full over the top pirate outfits (with swords) while Adam Rupp who is into D&D had the most props. I think of Rob and Chance as being the most mellow of the guys (Though they are cut-ups as well.) I feel the same way as you do about Rob's voice. While Austin and Tim probably have the most unique voices and Adam has the most unbelievable percussion talent, I think that Rob has had the best classical voice training and it shows in the way that he is able to effortlessly adapt to different styles, including opera. If any of them could be said to sing like an angel it would be Rob, but he can also beat out a drinking song like here or bring you to church in an R&B or gospel song. I don't want to leave Chance out either. I think he has the best voice and demeanor for their sad ballads like "I can't Outrun You. (Which you need to add to your list). He's just got that quietly sexy baritone vibe.
Fun reaction as always! As penance for not knowing who Austin is, you are hereby sentenced to react to Home Free's cover of 'When a Man Loves a Woman' next 🙃
I have yet to figure out how the beat boxer, Adam Rupp, makes the castenet sound. To me it's more mysterious than the harmonica sound. Great reaction, you're right, they make you want to dance.
The Sea Shanty dance that was a phenomenon on TikTok uses the first verse with Chance in all the renditions. There are 500k versions and over 7 billion views on TikTok and still most people don't have a clue that it is Chances's voice and Home Free that they are dancing to.
As an avid Ass Creed 4 fan, I love sea shanties. There's just something so soothing yet so encouraging in hearing a bunch of guys -being dudes- sing as the waves crash into the wood of the ship
Not sure if you caught that Adam was making the castanets sound in the last shanty - well, in Adam's case that would be "castanots". Thanks - loving your reactions. 😆🍟
Chance was the one that started singing. Adam is the beatboxer, Tim is the bass (capt Jack Sparrow), Austin is the one acting goofy with the high voice, and the one with the beard and glasses is Rob.
@@scharlottequantz7009 I know that. They call him Chance not to get him confused with Adam Rupp. The group introduced him as Chance from the start and actually to be technical, his full name is Adam Chance Ray. Just Like Austin's name is really Matthew Austin Brown. So you can call him what you'd like. (and I will too)
Love your reaction to the mention of Australia. My kids and I particularly love those lyrics too - we were freezing in Canberra in lockdown when we discovered this song and Home Free have lifted our spirits so many times, now we live in Brisbane we still play their songs daily because we love them and they help our baby with her day naps. She settles as soon as she hears their Delta Dawn.
Great Reaction! The first guy to sing banging the guitar is Chance. Yes Tim is the bass and fun fact he couldn’t move much because he was standing in a boat. Adam is the beatboxer extraordinaire he was making castanets and sea swells. The guy in the middle red shirt is Austin he has music theatre training and gets really into this song. Chris left in 2016 replaced by Chance so videos before May 2016 will have Chris and after will have Chance
Remember that this was filmed during the pandemic, so they were all at home. Tim was standing in his front yard in that costume singing and recording a video. Oh, to be one of his neighbors!!
Chris Rupp, Adam Rupp’s brother started group but he left years ago. This starts with Adam Chance (Chance) then Rob, then Adam(Beatboxer), Austin Brown in red, Tim Foust (Cpt. Jack Sparrow) is the base.
This was the song that made me sit up and say "Who the ___ are THEY?!" I can't get enough of this medley and I love your reaction to it. Thank you for giving me a reason to watch it again!
I'm glad you mentioned the TikTok dances, some reactors do not realize that the dance is actually done to the beginning of this song which is sung by Home Free.☠️
they performed this live 2 weeks ago in Utrecht on their European Tour and it was EPIC!!! I was front row and you could feel the stage vibrate. The crowd went ballistic and so did I :-)
Cynthiana is my favoriteM Most of the band is pirates meanwhile Adam Rupp gave me prince Eric from the little mermaid vibes and I’m here for it! Austingiving me full blown music theater for this video is great.
This was one of the several they did via internet during the insanity that was covid shutdown. So they were doing this from all over the country. These guys can do it all!
How good are these guys? The fun & energy in this is infectious. This was done during quarantine so none of the guys were even together. The editing of this was great & was done in the Tik Tok style. Love all the guys parts, with Chance starting first, then Rob & Tim's rumbling bass underlying it all. Austin is in the red outfit. Adam's beatboxing is phenomenal as always including sea swells & castanets. Amazing how he increased the tempo from one song to another. They do this medley of songs in their live concerts.
Home Free stripped down with no beat-boxing and five part harmonies is amazing! I would recommend (in order) Helplessly Hoping, How Great Thou Art, Brothers in Arms and Auld Lang Syne.
Rob's voice is just all natural butter. There's no other good way to describe it, he's just got "it" whatever "it" is. He's got "it" in absolute truck loads.
A great idea from Chance who likes a lot of those Sea shanty songs and in my opinion really has the voice and appearance for them. It is made in quarantine period. Besides each having their great part in this medley, I really love the beatboxing with castanets sound! It was done in the TikTok style, which is why I regularly see / hear come by at the TikTok videos
Tim is wearing the Jack Sparrow costume, but Austin (red shirt) is channeling Johnny Depp as Captain Jack! Watch the gestures and the facial expressions!
Rob with glasses and beard lead tenor, Austin in red pirate shirt high tenor, Tim in the other pirate outfit sings bass, Chance red hat baritone/bass, Adam is beat boxer. This was during Quarantine. Speaking about that they wrote a song called Quarantine. It's really funny
You might want to go back and watch and count how many drinking cups Adam the beat boxer has. The reaction channel the Charismatic Voice observed this and I had never noticed that until she had pointed that out. Pretty cool 😉
If you love bass.....check out The Bass Gang Hooked on a Feeling ft. Tim Foust. Yes...your favorite TicTok Basses with Tim Foust....its quite amazing...and Tim has a lot of bass parts, but sings Tenor lead.
Guys are a blast! I don't know if you knew but these boys just returned from Australia about 2 weeks ago from an Australian tour!! Don't know if you've ever heard of Larping but Home Free does a video called BROTHER and they larp through it. Great reaction
This song in person is absolutely amazing! I have had the honor of meeting them and attending four concerts! They are absolutely gifted, talented and awesome!
Yup, Chance's voice is sea green velvet. (First singer w/ knit cap) Austin (red shirt) loves to get a move on, and his voice soars with energy. Rob is SO versatile. This is where I first noticed the different sound to his lower register; more resonance, a hint of what he'll do in "Nessun Dorma".
I’ve seen them perform the Sea Shanty Melody TWICE in person! I absolutely love it ! Literally everyone gets on their feet and starts dancing, I don’t care if they are 4 or 90 years old 😂 if you ever get the chance to see them live DO IT!! Tim is so freaking funny, and it’s just a great show !
So, this was the song that played behind a lot of those TikTok dances, etc. It seems that the more recent ones have been crediting Home Free for the music.
It was Rob (full beard), Tim ( capt Jack), Austin (red outfit Sinbad), Chance (blue T red hat), Adam (puffy shirt) Tim is bass and shares it with Chance who took lead in this. Rob is tenor, Austin is high tenor. Adam is beatboxer. Chance came into the group when Chris left. Chris is Adams brother and they started home free. If you want to hear some great just them songs listen to How Great Thou Art, Brothers In Arms, Dive Bar Saints (original) and Only In America (original) they are truly the best acapella group out there. And props for Adam on making the fab castings sound.
Adam Chance (called Chance since Adam Rupp the beat boxer/singer was a founding member) was the opening soloist. He shares the bass line duty with Tim Foust when Tim soars into his higher range. This was filmed during quarantine so everyone came up with his own version of a pirate costume and setting at home. In the group set up it's top to bottom Rob, Tim, Austin (the nut case), Chance and Adam.

Chance loves his sea shanties! He has done several on his most frequent collaborators' channel The Hound and The Fox including an original one that was written specifically with a part for Chance, A Whistling Lad.
Home Free doesn't do anything half way or half-assed. If they do something, they do the best version of it that they can. Check out their cover of Folsom Prison Blues.
If you look up any of the millions of Sea Shanty dances on TikTok, it is likely this exact song they are dancing to. So you're not the only one that wants to dance to this one! I have it set as my morning alarm on my phone...just try to sleep through that bassline!😅
Something to add to your list--maybe around Christmas--is Home Free doing "Do You Hear What I Hear". The arrangement was done by Adam Rupp (the beatboxer) and is from earlier in their careet, so it has Chris Rupp (Adam's brother) along with Tim, Austin, and Rob. It's just an amazing arrangement, performed in front of an ice palace in Minnesota...
I love the costuming in this one, because it's just whatever they had in their own houses at the time of lockdown, which means we end up with: two halfway decent pirates one Jack Sparrow one Maine lumberjack? and one Steve Zissou! :P
This was made during lock down, so everybody was apart (at their home) and they managed to do this!! The guy in the red is Austin (Chris is no longer with the group). Adam is the beat boxer. You'll listen to this again and during Santianna, listen for Adam doing castanets. It's incredible. And if you want to be a pirate, you may enjoy VoicePlay "Hoist the Colors" (from the third "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie). I really enjoy your reactions!!
You are doing ok. Everyone has already given you the names. Just remember Austin has red hair and is the high tenor. If you like cosplay, you will love their video for Brother done as a LARP. It was almost 100° F and humid when they did it. Thanks!!
I am so happy for you, not just because you have only just found Home Free, but mostly because you haven't even heard the best ones yet. I am beyond excited for you(and me)
Loving your enthusiasm and energy you bring to the Home Free reactions! It can be difficult keeping track of the guys because they switch parts so often! Just when you get used to Tim's bass they throw you for a loop with Tim at the tippy top of his range and Chance taking the bass line! Austin and Rob can blend so well it's actually difficult to know who is singing which line and they all sound amazing blended together! If you want to hear Adam (beat boxer) sing listen to How Great Thou Art.
You could do Voiceplay and Home Free together in Zombies vs. Hillbillies. Also, you could do Home Free doing Ring of Fire featuring Avi Kaplan. That way you could double up to some extent.
I love all the guys singing voices and Rob has really shined more and more lately. You really need to watch their opera and hold on to your hat for Rob's vocals. Another is their cover of 'Brother'. This song got my attention with a golden honey of a lower register from him. And you haven't lived until you hear Austin's sexy low register in 'I Swear ' 🔥🔥
Austin's the one in red with a sword. Chance started it off (red headband, blue shirt). This was years after Chris left - one of their lockdown videos during COVID. Every one of their lockdown vids were a *gift* to the world! They were brilliant in keeping spirits up during a dark time for us all. Glad you've joined us Fries! I'm enjoying your reviews quite a lot, thank you sir :)
Our Home Free guys are supernaturally talented and skilled. They rile up emotion whenever they perform. They make me want to fully engage life because that's how they are. Open hearts, open minds. They give everything their best. We feel it. Home Free are the G.O.A.T. Period. Thanks for a great reaction.
This is one of many they did during quarantine...it was ingenious! They usually put out two each month and they each did their parts from home and sent it to their production crew who worked their magic and this is a perfect example. They started by using their phones and then got better equipment. Some of these were Kenny Rogers Gambler, Moonshine, Folsum Prison Blues, When A Man Loves A Woman, and their homage to quarantine named Quarantine.
Great reaction! Thanks so much. I agree about Rob's voice - he is so versatile! You have seen him rapping, you've seen him being a pirate... wait until you see him do opera! His voice is so rich and sweet and full and soulful! Others have pointed you in the right direction with the names of the group, so I won't - you will get there! Austin has musical theatre training so he loves any chance to dress up - he was Sinbad the Sailor in this video. Tim was standing in a boat in his garden so his movement was limited because he was afraid the boat would tip over! He made up for it with his costume though! Did you catch Adam's castanet sound in "Santiana"? This medley was Chance's idea and he convinced the other guys to get on board (pun intended!).
A big hug for you my friend!!...No one better than you, to make a reaction video and analyze this incredible singer who is leaving all the experts, literally with their jaws on the floor (Do you remember Jim Carrey's movie "The Mask"? well, just like that)...In 2017, a 22-year-old singer from Kazakhstan, named Dimash Kudaibergen, was invited to participate in the famous Chinese program for professional singers called "The Singer"... In his first appearance, Dimash covered one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse"....Since then all this madness began on the internet, TH-cam and social networks worldwide and he is already considered the best singer on the entire planet... It is almost impossible to see a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges of 8 octaves, that is, the 88 keys of a digital piano, which allows him to reach all registers, both masculine and feminine, that is, he can sing as Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Contratenor, Contralto, Mezzosoprano and Soprano...You can see in TH-cam to all kinds of experts (Vocal coaches, analysts, singing teachers, singers, youtubers, reactors, etc.), who have dedicated themselves to watching his videos and verifying for themselves that what is said about him is completely true...In addition to all this, Dimash is capable of singing in more than 12 languages...In all his concerts worldwide, tickets are sold in just seconds, via the internet, due to the immense popularity he has worldwide... Anyway, I think you haven't met this impressive singer yet, so here is the link to the first song that Dimash performed in China in that year 2017, the song S.O.S., and if it doesn't bother you, I would like you to mention me as the person who recommended it to you...Warning: You have to be prepared for thousands of views, comments and new subscribers....The video It is more recent, so it does not have the millions of views that the first ones, but it is more complete, including an intro, subtitles in several languages and better audio and sound quality...th-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/w-d-xo.html
I get the whole bouncy thing. I'm a proud Newfoundlander and shanties are in our blood here. Love your channel, I'm here for the acapella. The guy in red btw is Austin (who did musical theatre so its totally him). Chance started the song. Hugs ❤
Who knew sea shanties were so much fun?! I didn’t. The first singer (with knit cap) is Chance. He’s the one who replaced Chris and is also a huge fan of shanties. Austin was in red with the sword. He’s had musical training, can you tell??? Tim was Capt. Jack Sparrow and is the bass. Rob wears the glasses. Adam is the beatboxer. Did you hear the castanets Adam was doing in the last song? Amazing and yes, we all want to dance with this one too. There are youtube videos out there with this song with kids dancing (I’ve seen the anime ones). If you like this you might like Brother. They dress up as different warriors. It’s funny but the song is great. 😀
Avast! Ahoy! Onward to the seven seas! (Loved this so much)
U definitely need to hear brothers in arm that’s where u can definitely hear their harmonies and give u chills all at once
You want to hear them in beautiful 5 part harmony....."Helplessly Hoping " will leave you awe struck !
Yep, yep. That will be a great reaction. Literally stunningly beautiful.
Adam is amazing but when he sings and doesn't beatbox its just a whole other thing
@Brad Clifton adam has a beautiful singing voice which is beautifully heard in How Great Thou Art

The new logo!!!! #DJantlers!!!
I love it so much!!!
Austin's background in musical theater really serves him well in videos like this.
It was Austin not Chris. Try reacting to Thank God I'm A Country Boy. Austin's yodeling is great.
Chance loves his sea shanties! He has done several on his most frequent collaborators' channel The Hound and The Fox including an original one that was written specifically with a part for Chance, A Whistling Lad.
It’s absolutely insane. This is one of their quarantine videos. They weren’t even together when they recorded.
And yet, they are so very good.
Austin is in the red! The one you've been calling Austin is Adam Chance, and the beat boxer is Adam Rupp
I saw them in concert in September. They sounded just as good live@
I love their version of that song. I'm Jewish and even listen to it.. Year round 😂
I love the costuming in this one, because it's just whatever they had in their own houses at the time of lockdown, which means we end up with:
two halfway decent pirates
one Jack Sparrow
one Maine lumberjack?
and one Steve Zissou!
:P
Home Free is amazing!
they performed this one live at the concert i went to and it sounds amazing
Thanks!!
I love Tim’s rumbling bass. The rest are very good also.
I am so happy for you, not just because you have only just found Home Free, but mostly because you haven't even heard the best ones yet. I am beyond excited for you(and me)
This was done during Quarantine. They were not together for this. Austin is in the red.#homefries
10:48, when I first heard this Shanty, my semi( I’m an Over The Road truck driver) earned her name… this is what I named her.
Austin is in red. He has a background in musical theater. 😂 Thoroughly enjoying your journey through HF!
The one you think is Chris that is Austin. You know what you think is Austin is chance.
sorry hahahaha i will get there eventually !! 🤣
The first part, Wellerman, went viral on Tiktok, so you’ve probably heard their version on there.
If 8 hours is too far to drive to see Home Free, many will question if you’re a Home Fry.
The boys did this during lockdown, each in their own home. Time borrowed the neighbors boat for his stage.
Loving the reaction, love the excitement, love the reactor! 🏴☠️🖤
They do a great version of Blue ain't your color.
Rob is my favorite Home Free singer, it helps he looks exactly like my son too! Down to the beard and glasses. ❤
This is one of the videos done during pandemic. These guys are so creative
every time they sang this in concert every venue vibrated with tim's low notes. it was crazy
I just adore you so much! And, these boys!!! Goodness!!!
