I have thoroughly enjoyed your channel since finding it about 6 months ago. Your reactions to Rock, Pop, R&B and comedy are terrific but you seem to have an aversion to country. I completely understand. But, if you would indulge me, I bet I can refer you to a song that will have your toe tappin' and your face smilin.' Please check out Toby Keith's hilarious "As Good As I Once Was." You'll thank me later!

A quote from my father (the music fan in the family) concerning Janis Joplin. "When she screams like that, it'll make the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame walk and an old man feel young again"

Hey so this is from the Festival Express, check it out! "Festival Express is a 2003 documentary film about the 1970 train tour of the same name across Canada taken by some of North America's most popular rock bands, including the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, Buddy Guy, Flying Burrito Bros, Ian & Sylvia's Great Speckled Bird, and Delaney & Bonnie & Friends.[1] The film combines footage of the 1970 concerts and on the train, interspersed with contemporary recollections of the tour by its participants."

Janis was are hero in the early 70's. She was a wild child, she made no
Excuses for anything. Summertime is a great song , one of so many.
Such a waste when she died. Only one Janis.

    Janis was it!
My all-time favorite Joplin song is "Turtle Blues". You should listen to the recording of it that she did in the studio. It was the 1st & last 'laying down of tracks' of that song; she died soon after that & never got to tweak the recording.

Watching Janis makes me tear up, seriously. My dad had Pearl on vinyl and Id play it while cleaning the house. Id look at the photos of her in awe at 13 (1994) understanding already that she was giving it all. This was before the internet, so when my dad told me she had died a long time ago I was very sad.

Jamel, I love your videos. I really like the Rush videos, I first saw them on the 2112 tour and saw every tour after that minus a few when I serving in the Navy and Army. To my main reason for this message, the Tell Mama made me think of Savoy Brown, I don't know if you've checked them out yet but they are a fantastic band. You should really give them a listen, a great jamming band like the Dead or the Allman Bros anyway if you can go check out Tell Mama, Street Corner Talking, Needle and Spoon and the old Wand Dang Doodle along with many other greats that they did...Enjoy

The live version of "Summertime" on Cheap Thrills, or Texas Int. Pop Fest. 1969, will leave your lower jaw on the floor. Maybe you could continue the Texas trend with Freddie King, The Texas Cannonball, "Goin Down" studio version. Doubt that will get blocked. Its the most rockin' blues song ever.

I love your reactions to all of these man, and you do such a wide range of music, which is very cool. I would like to make a suggestion of one band I bet no one has thought of though. Can you name the very first true metal band to have a Top 40 hit? It was a British band with an insanely good vocalist who was an opera singer... ready for it? Grim Reaper. Man, they were the bomb in 1983. I highly recommend two songs in particular: See You in Hell (top 40) and The Show Must Go On. Kepp me laughing bro!

Hey Jamel, I know you've reacted to The Tragically Hip. But you mentioned maybe showing some live versions of songs. I didn't see that you had watched their performance on SNL. It was the 1st time I'd seen them and the 1st song was "Grace Too." I can't even describe how that song affected me, but I fell in love with the band after 1 song. Someone recently found that performance and I tried linking it but couldn't. But if you search SNL and Tragically Hip, there is 1 video. Dan Ackroyd, who is a fellow Canadian and friend of the band introduced them. I still get emotional and feel like crying, but it's a fantastic live performance, in case you're interested. I think it's worth sharing 💜

Check out a Mexican cumbia band called Sonido Gallo Negro. Check out their songs, La Patrona, Bocanegra, and El mercado de los Brujos. It's not your typical cumbia. It's cumbia with a dark twist to it. Very cool. Engrossing. And just hearing it, you feel the darkness in it. They are also little known, so it's something that you could introduce your viewers to, and blow their minds.

She was known to be very insecure. I wonder if that was part of the inspiration for her to give so much of herself to every performance. Those shows were in Canada with The Dead, and The Band. They had low ticket sales due to the growing belief that concerts should be free in the aftermath of the Woodstock movie release.
