Tomas Avenarius draws a much more balanced and realistic picture of Turkish politics and Erdogan compared to the other two guest. The others seem to have issues with the Turkish state and their opinion is clearly dominated by this.

There's no such thing as moral principles in international politics. Russia invades Ukraine claiming weapons from NATO, US invades Iraq claiming weapons of mass destruction. Turkey condemns war crimes in Gaza, US condemns war crimes in Ukraine, but not vice versa. This is all a political game for those in power, but it's the everyday people that suffers as a consequence. Moral arguments is the fuel that feeds the flame of vengence in politics, rather than self reflection that can bring about peace.

Expelling Türkiye from NATO would be the alliance's biggest mistake.
      Here why
1/ Turkey will join the alliance of China and Russia that will be a nightmare's for the West
2/ The alliance will lose the second strongest army in the alliance in terms of numbers and military equipment.
3/ Turkey will close all the straits to the alliance, the Strait of the Bosphorus, the Strait of Marmara and the Dardanelles.

The selection of puppet journalists is concerning. Their discourse is limited to repetitive slogans that undermine our country. Their descriptions lack any sense of patriotism; it's a relentless depiction of negativity, perpetuating the notion of a dictatorial regime. Dear DW, it's imperative to awaken to this reality. By endorsing such individuals as representatives for Turkey, there's a failure to comprehend the nuanced actions of our allies within our borders. Moreover, these self-proclaimed 'journalists' exhibit poor English proficiency, rendering their expression and credibility laughable.

Just like US is an alley of Saudi Arabia and a security guarantor but they ideological differences when it comes to Israel and two state solution. He doesn't need NATO anyway because his military is very well advanced in terms of technology, they're currently leading in drone technology and most favoured drone on the market is the bayrakter and it changed the game in Libya, changed the game in Ukraine/ Russia. Another thing his people love him as a leader.

I think it's about time the Turkish government is asked to reaffirm it's NATO commitments. Certainly, as things seem to develope for the worse all the time with the Israel/Palestine conflict being the latest eruption in a long chain of escalating tensions all over the world, if Turkey might pull out for whatever reason then now is much better to know that than when they might be depended on - for instance to close the Bosperous Strait to Russian military vessels.
Turkey has the largest standing army in Europe. If push comes to shove between the NATO organisation and some crazed dictator out to get his showdown, we don't want that army to suddenly change sides.

@@pittan86 Turkey is *both* on the European and the Asian continents. As you do acknowledge. So geographically Turkey is situated, also in Europe which makes it a European country and legitimate to compare to other european countries. Whether it's afew percent or many percent doesn't really factor in in that regard. And it is literally part of the Turkish mystique as a tourist destination for meeting a spectacular mix of european and asian cultures having merged into one, and it's the very reason Turkey has enjoyed it's historical importance. Thus marking Turkey as European country both culturally and historically too.
