For a little better effect, put your halation node in linear (it looks better with the radius tool)
Yes! Very good tip. Thanks for commenting. 🤝🏼
what do you mean by this I'm a noob...
@@TechBasedOfficial Righ-click the halation node: Gamma - Linear
@@TechBasedOfficial @TechBasedOfficial yes! same here lol. What does putting a node in "linear" mean?
EDIT: I believe he means to put the node at the very end of the sequence. I did it just it and made a difference!
@@BryanCamara He means linear gamma space. Right click the node and change the gamma to linear. It sets the working color gamma ONLY within that node to be linear.
Damn man, such beautiful halation with one single node is something extraordinary. Subbed
That's so smart wow. I remember duplicating the layers in Premiere, having a nightmare editing it. Now you come up with the idea of using screen blending mode then just making everything dark except for the highlights. That pure genius. I don't even care if that was your idea or not, thank you for brightening me. Haha. +1 sub.
wonderful trick. i needed that!
Edit: Also, the amount of customization and doors this open is crazy! thank you bro
you never stop impressing me with your knowledge, as much of what I can learn on TH-cam, I can't apply it to my day-to-day work, because if I do these things for a national newscast, they will more than likely call me to say no more... thanks for everything
No problem Enrique. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Oh man i just searched on Google if there was any possible way of if getting halation in free version of da vinci and after some time i stumbled upon here, eagerly waiting for this to drop 😂😤
Nice! Here you go 😉
thanks for sharing and being so straightforward !
Thanks for watching and commenting!
thank you ! learning davinci resolve 19 right now and this was so useful.
Glad it helped you out! Thank you for watching 🤝🏼
dope and straight to the point, that's perfect
Yes please, video on your Kodak Look. Thanks for this video for those of us who can't afford the studio version. Much appreciated.
Have you purchased my Kodak PowerGrade? I can send you this edited PG.
Sorry, no. I haven't.
Pros dont bit around the bush. Just straight to the point ❤😂
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much my footage looks exactly the way I wanted
Nice! Thanks for watching 😉
Thanks. This was useful.
Great effect, adds a very cinematic look🎉
Worth the waiting. Thx for sharing it
Thanks for watching.
WOW thank you man! Gonna be using this for now :)
this is amazing! may god bless you, dude
Wow. That's an awesome tutorial!
thank you so much bro
Amazing Thank you!
Thank you for watching.
Would love a tutorial for that look 👀
Thank you!
Why do you have the halation node first in the sequence? Shouldn't it be applied last so other nodes don't mess with the effect?
Thank you. I liked and subscribed.
Thanks for the sub and welcome! 🙏🏼
What's a Cool technique🎉
Dude theres so many shit videos around. Finally a good one! You are the dude.
Hey man, thank you very much for the video! Only one question, any idea of why is it that I don't see the "composite mode" option in my nodes? The menu stops at "channels", and nothing else... Thanks a lot!
Thank for watching. You’re most likely on an older version of resolve. The Composite Mode for nodes feature came with v18.5. Update your Resolve and you should be good to go.
Thank you!!
Bro did the halation effect in minute 1:01
I'm definitely not good at these kinds of things, but I used Mid/Detail to make a crisp/soft halation, maybe useful for someone? Thank you for this video :)
Good tip! Thanks for sharing!
thank you
good stuff!
I tried this technique but the composite mode only shows up when I add a layer node
Thats a good workaround for older versions of Resolve. Upgrade to the latest version of Resolve (18.5) and you'll see the Composite Modes for single serial nodes. 👍🏼
@@george.colorist Yes, i could achieve the result with the layer node in the old version of Resolve!
I wonder if using a "black diffusion" Filter does the same thing when taking a video.. But this version is the "software" color grading side.
It's amazing though! Going to use this soon! Thank yuou so much for your great mind!
The Black filter creates does create a similar effect. Thanks for watching! 👍🏼
why there is no composite mode in my node in davinci
You're likely using an older version of Resolve.
I'm also a noob here. I don't know if I'm trigging, but on the way I followed, doing the blur-radius, it just made my whole screen blur and after doing other steps, it's just keep getting super orange and white.
Hey there. Did you set the Composite Mode of the Halation node to "Screen"? If that doesnt work, let me know. Thanks for watching.
whenever i use the curves it just makes my clip go dark?
Odd. Did you set the correct composite mode?
@@george.coloristWhats it supposed to be? Where is it?
In what format do you film your footage that works best with the powergrades you sell? I love your grades🔥
Thanks Isaac! This clip is stock footage from Artlist so I didnt shoot it. All my PowerGrades are compatible with most cameras/color spaces via the Color Space Transform tool.
Im unable to change the composite mode
Update Resolve to 18.5
i don't understand at all, could you start at the beginning please
