The ROC show was like no other. It was sad that it only lasted 3 seasons. The show should be an inspiration to all inspiring young black actors and actresses. Today’s “hit the audience laugh button” doesn’t work for me.
I grew 🆙 in the Crack Era and none of these type of men presence were available during the Crack Era. How a guy like Roc with NO opportunity gon tell a kid that’s making $800 to $1000 a night to 🛑 selling drugs . Those Roc type of figures only had WORDS with NO opportunity.
Yes Sad thing is we were breakdancing before crack hit the streets. We got set-up. It’s all a part of set-up and we’re on the bottom of totem pole. I will say it again, I may not be a fan of this show (there are some stupidities), but there are more Rocs than the security guard from "The Wire." First of all I highly doubt Charles Dutton is politically conservative. Even so hes a rational Democrat. Second Republicans fought for non-whites and it was them who caused Brown vs Board. Now the only reason I'd be against the Civil Rights bill is because of Board. I don't like the notions of more and more laws. I value my freedoms. Why should we have laws to protect the rights when black people should have been protected by the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments? That's what we have judicial review for. To stop arbitrary interpretation.
