This music plays on the map and province management screen. The mp3s were labeled with the prefix, "SCROLL". I have no idea why. This video contains: The Menu Music and the first 3 "SCROLL" tracks. Click the "HQ" tab to make things better. There, there. It'll be worth it...I PROMISE

The "SCROLL" prefix was because the progression of the music went along with how many communication scrolls you'd received from your opponents. Once I figured out that sending mean scrolls to the Knight would pretty much guarantee he'd bankrupt himself sending piddly armies to attack me with, I noticed that the music would shift with each scroll he'd send in return, resulting in OMINOUS LATIN CHORUS and DRUMMMMS playing (scroll 4, 5, 6 etc) while my people were still figuring out what end of the stick was pointy.

      It has its uses though:
When I played one campaign, There was a province I wanted to seize: was to be spared fire and sword (save of course the battle to take the place).
Before I could do that though, in comes my enemy to seize the place. I realized I couldn't both take and hold the place, so I implemented a scorched earth policy and retreated, and didn't even bother capturing the place.
The knight found himself faced with the prospect of cleaning the resulting mess. I was able to move in later...permanently...
It's basically the tactic you use to undermine an enemy, without capturing their places.
There is another reason others may pursue this course: to avoid famine once they seize the province.

I thank god that a little advertisement popped on my facebook one day after not checking the status for a few months. There is a website called "Gog.com" that has a lot of old school games. All of the old games are now compatibility with your latest pc verison. The prices are unbelievably low. I recommend that you go to that site to purchase this game again and relive the memories. Me and my cousin use to love to play this game 24/7 before he passed away. 3:44 was his favorite music, and when i hear it, I think of him, and that fighting spirit to never forget.

@Xionic17 It is multiplayer, at least the Lords Royal Collection one was. I played it with a friend over LAN back in the day. See those shields at the top middle of the screen? The ones that disappear really fast as each CPU takes it's turn? Those stick around awhile longer when you play it over LAN. :)

I still proudly remember I message I sent to the Bishop in one letter (it was an insult):
"You sainted muffin! you think you can defeat me? Arch-bastard!"
fellow had 3 provinces (including one he took from me) when I sent the message. When it was over I was lord of half of Ireland. The Bishop was only saved by the Baron, who had (for his own ends), sent an army to fight me. (game ended in a stalemate: never finished).
Actually the letter I sent I got the idea for from a mini-series. To give you a clue which one, my handle in the game was Johan Sanz-Terre.

I must say, kudos to the Mast3rFr3aky on the juxtaposition of pictures with music. The music starting at 3:40 is quite appropriate for "merchant" screen, as is the music starting at 5:57 for the "raise an army" screen.

  • @jez9999
    @jez9999 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Let's ponder a little...
The game was made in 1996 so it is for old System 7 (Mac OS 7)
    and 68k/PPC Macintosh models.
If you were to run it on Mac Pro & OS X 10.4.7 which doesn't support
natively run earlier PPC applications it will either not launch/crash
or work unstable/too fast for today's Mac x86 architecture.
You need in that case to use some software emulation in your Mac Pro
to run earlier 68k/PPC applications at some performance penalty.
It's all there in Wikipedia btw.
