I mean, growing up in the 2000s, people always criticized Disney for the things they no longer do. Now everyone is criticizng them for listening to their audience before.
@gamergodzilla Well I disagree. You turning your back on Disney isn’t helping at all. Things are going to get better for Disney. You just have to think positively.
@@OliviaEaley Perhaps on the long run... But there is no way anyone in their right mind would support Disney the way things are now! Them facing financial failures after movies is the perfect way for us to show disdain and nudge or force them (if needed) to the right direction.
Critics are disgusted with Disneyus past too. One of them called Wish right wing because it has Easter eggs alluding to films from Disneys animated past which these folks are bred to loathe. Wish hardly wqualifies as right wing. Maybe anti-communist, but if leftists arent anti-cmmunist, I dunno why they even have a voice.
You've actually got that backwards - unless you don't follow actual Disney shareholder business. Their shareholders are furious because they're losing billions of dollars a year. They want the creative side of Disney (filled with activists and idiots) out, and they want to right the ship. It isn't the shareholders telling Disney to hire low-talent activist hacks who are ruining all of their products...
That makes no sense. To grant wealth to Shareholders your stock needs to go up and your company needs to make a profit to declare dividends. Disney is losing money.
Makes perfect sense too, because I think they say in their song that they're rich as heck for working on that mine that has too many shiny valuable gems to spare
The Wish problem could easily be solved if king Magnífico claimed to be helping people by gatekeeping their wishes, but was actually just stealing for his own personal gain. Then Asha comes and she becomes the one who actually regulates the wishes correctly.
As better as that is, it would be yet another "character we thought was good is revealed to actually be evil" trope which Disney has been overdoing ever since Frozen's Hans.
@@hibikiholmes2867They don’t necessary need to make it a Twist though. They could just present him being an asshole and the townsfolk loving him anyway because they are too blind by their own fear. Like one of these stories were the audience can see the full picture but the characters can’t.
@@lelegus7732 For reference, this is the origin of the term "tragic irony." In tragedies, characters would often make limited-POV statements that we knew them to be false, whereas they believed them to be true, hence "tragic" and "irony" (for stating an untruth).
Wasn’t that the warning of Into The Woods (an old musical)? The characters all wish for something and find out for every wish that came true there was a serious consequences.
Ok you were on point with the snow white part. Most of what Disney is today is because of that first movie. Its a classic and it should be respected as one. People seem to forget that the reason we have such amazing princesses for generations is because of previous one's. You take what's old and make your own unique spin to it. I don't know why do people disrespect old media as if it were bad.
Yeah, this. I’m very against historical and cultural revisionism. Like, forgetting history will be a civilization’s downfall. Most of these “problematic” films are timeless classics. And while sure, many of these do have their funnies but thats just a part of them. These films were products of their time. I dislike how we can’t just have accurate settings anymore. Like, their ok with all other races and historical cultures being represented properly, but why do they always find the itch to make old europe be filled with non whites for the sake of making it “inclusive” but i’m taking a tangent here.
I've just listened to the Villain Song for "Wish", "This Is The Thanks I Get?", and I couldn't help but feel like that ironically describes Disney's situation rather aptly.
Why couldn't they do another crack at 2d animation for their 100th anniversary? Or even do a movie experimenting with a blend of 2d and 3d like the Spiderverse movies or Puss in Boots the Last Wish or Klaus. I saw a comment suggesting they should have done a crossover type of movie with a bunch of their old characters, I don't know exactly how the story would work but can you imagine if they put a bunch of ctheir classical characters together and used the animation style of their original films in this crossover? It would show how much they learned and chaged throughout the years, it would be a bit like the spiderverse in that way. With Wish it looks like they tried to experiment a little with the animation but didn't commit to the bit, it's half baked exactly, it's just off putting.
@@Prototype-357 unfortunately the success of live action remakes such as Beauty and the Beast and Lion King (which both made over a billion dollars) has them thinking that live action remakes is the way to go; but with the live action Little Mermaid not performing well at the box office, direct to Disney+ releases such as Pinocchio, Peter Pan & Wendy, and Lady & the Tramp not being well received by critics and audiences, and the ever growing backlash towards the planned Snow White remake and recently announced Bambi remake, this'll be a wake up call to Disney that we don't want these remakes anymore. Focus more on original stories, adapt fairy tales that have not been adapted into film (which there are plenty of).
Maybe, but Once Upon a Studio feels extremely easy to write. Like, it was cute and fun but it was basically just iconic Disney characters iterating the Disney motto.
Ikr, after I saw that short. I tell people that Wish has competition with "Once Upon A Studio", it has to outdo a 15 minute short. My Negative Nelly says that "Wish can't strike the same awe and magic that this short has, even if it makes me please."
Actually got back from seeing "The Marvels" with my friend who really wanted to see it. Saw that there was an entire seat row filled out but once the show started it was just the two of us throughout the film. And captain Marvel genocides an entire planet just because of the Kree Ai. Thano was the intended bad guy right?
Wish would work leagues better if they didn't make Magnifico into a villain and didn't make Asha undeniably right. Instead, reveal that Magnifico genuinely does have Rosas's best in mind and Asha doesn't know that every wish is worth granting. Have her grant a few wishes that creates a real menace to the kingdom, force Asha and Magnifico to work together and have them learn a little something from each other. But no, we're just getting "King man bad because he no grant old man's wish and peasant aDoRkAbLe girl protagonist is always right".
I would love a mature and nuanced *execution* of the writing of Wish something like this, but this would make the movie fans in general get sick of antagonists getting redeemed trope. Although, to celebrate 100 years of Disney where they had a variety of antagonists and villians over the years, I do like to see a take in Magnifico being a clear villian, but still have a twist about him, like how King Candy was written in Wreck-it-Ralph, and then maybe do a humbling, redeeming moment for the villian where he learns something good in the end but is still imprisoned for his crimes.
They Did the same shit in raya and the Last dragon too. Sadly i'm from south east Asia, because of the hype that animator is from my country and they promised to "represent" our cultures. So i watch it. The action is still top notch among Disney animated movie but the writing is horrible. The jokes never land, awkwafina as dragon is the most cringe annoying character in all Disney animated movie, plot armor and raya has bad motivation throughout the whole movie. And there's lesbian hair cut with her rival villain which nobody did that haircut in south east Asia. They also mixing every south east Asia as many as they can and nobody felt represented. If you want malay cultures, Just watch upin and ipin : keris siamang or mechamoto. Both has good script and the story is representing us
I’d wish that Magnifico was a Gaston-type villain. We and the hero can see he’s not good, but everyone else thinks he’s amazing. I feel a bit like Pixar style animation can’t do obviously evil characters as well as classic animation did. Just look at someone like Jafar. The man’s every detail screams ‘I’m evil.’ Edit: Or they could make him just full-blown evil. No pretending, no good publicity. He's a magical, powerful tyrant who has the power to grant wishes, makes sure everyone knows, and he won't grant a single one.
If you listen to Asha’s “I want” song “This Wish” she’d come across as pretty ignorant but not in a purposeful way. It’s super pretty but one of the lyrics is “I know I’m not wrong” like sis 🤦🏻♀️
Using Doctor Doom effectively would require writers who are willing to take the character *dead seriously*. I can't imagine that happening with the current domination of the writing side of Hollywood by irony-poisoned hacks.
I'm pretty sure what Disney is thinking is the "Gold Standard" for Wish is that they expect it to slightly outgross Pixar's Elemental since they're both Original Animated films released the Same Year and if this movie somehow fails to do so then it's considered a big loss for Disney unless there's REALLY good word-of-mouth and it over performs at the Box Office globally.
More than anything else about Disney's film properties, I miss the early, serious/edgy MCU. When we had things like Captain America getting rendered near-helpless by one well-positioned mook with a good gun (MORE THAN ONCE EVEN), the Iron Man suits were gritty, mechanical power armor, and there was an abundance of emotionally weighty scenes. Now, we get Okoye casually knifing her way through a whole room of US Marines, lazy "nanomachines, son!" armor everywhere, and writing that's afraid of being earnest.
That's what happening in comic too, because of mcguffin, plot armor and multiverse. Nobody really died. Meanwhile in DC comic, everytime the flash doing flashpoint, it will have consequences which is why DC actually knows how to handle the story
Disney is catering to a small subsection of society, sadly it's such a small group that it doesn't even cover production costs. They are picking their audience but it's group that doesn't invest a lot both financially and emotionally to any of Disney's brands.
It's hard for me to feel bad for Disney at this point, as so much of this is because of their own poor choices. The company is no longer the one we grew up with: most of the creative people who made the amazing films we knew and love are either dead or have left Disney to pursue their own interests. Instead, I feel most bad for those who still cling to their love of Disney like it's some integral part of their identity. You know the type: the people who praise every product Disney puts out because it reminds them of their childhood.
You talked about be careful of what you wish for, the first thing I though of was the Animaniacs wishing star movie. Where they are trying to stop the King from making a wish with the wishing start that fell to earth. It's a whole comedy sequence where the king goes on about how he will make a with with the Warner brothers and sister point how the wish could be misinterpreted. One I remember is making a wish for a million "bucks" gives the King a million male deer that instantly trample him, and it really worked to get to the king the "problem" of making wishes. And even then that also ignores the entire genre of cursed wishes, from monkeys paw, to even Aladdin's ending where Jafar is tricked into turning himself into a Genie.
You're right, they honestly wouldn't exist if Snow White wasn't a success. Walt and the people working on the film were practically the only people who thought an animated film would actually work. No one in the industry had faith this would work. It was a massive gamble that, fortunately, paid off. If it had failed, I couldn't imagine how much of a major blow it would've been to the company and how much of a set back it would be for future animation. Not to mention all the great films from the company would've never happened. So it really is pretty dang bad having Disney just decide they want to update and distance from their legacy while the main actress treats it like a crime against women as if the world wasn't different 100 years ago.
Part of me is kinda hoping Disney does more good story but Other side of me is just annoyed with them to the point that I don't care if they don't rise to the fame they use to have.
The funny thing with Wish is that the chief complaint I see with the majority of critic reviews is that it's too much like the classics, there's nothing new or revolutionary. Okay, that's a valid criticism, but that's also kinda the point. It's not trying to be revolutionary. Its goal was to tell a simple traditional fairytale akin to the classics, you know, serve as a reminder of what made people fall in love with the studio's work in the first place. It's why they went the extra mile with the hand-drawn look for its animation, even making the backgrounds 100% hand-drawn. If this is really the worst thing people can say about it, it kinda tells me it's not really that bad and that these critics might have set their standards too high because all they saw was '100 year anniversary'. It's a similar case with Elemental where, sure, it's nothing special, but I feel like a lot of the backlash stemmed from its simplicity and not much else. That was honestly a lot more charming than the critics made it out to be. As for the live-action films, can't argue with that. The remakes are far too abundant, though hearing of a few being canned recently has led me to believe maybe they'll stop producing them sooner than expected. As for Marvel, I kinda lost interest in them quite some time ago.
They need a balance. I love the realism of 3D, but there's a classic look to 2D as well. Hybrid animation, on the other hand, isn't a preference of mine.
The sad thing is, they were originally going to have it to every CGI film would be followed by a hand-drawn film. It's the whole reason they released Tangled, a CGI film after The Princess and the Frog then followed it up with Winnie the Pooh, a hand-drawn film. However, while this has never been confirmed, it is heavily believed they might have deliberately sabotaged Winnie the Pooh so they'd have an excuse to go back on that plan.
It took them three years. With the exception of No Way Home (which was made by Sony) and the Guardians Holiday Special and GOTG 3 (which were mostly James Gunn productions), nothing they've made has worked. We've had middling to bad TV shows, D-list heroes who no one cares about, and a lack of direction (ignoring the direction they WERE taking pre-Quantumania being tanked by Jonathan Majors' scandals). As far as I'm concerned, the MCU ends with Far From Home with No Way Home, the Guardians Holiday Special, and Guardians 3 as character-specific epilogues and everything else that's been done for Phases 4 and 5 is the dying dream of Carol Danvers after Rogue stole her powers.

Disney bought the rights for the Fantastic 4 and they are already making bizarre casting decisions, which usually is a sign for other production issues. Do they enjoy self sabotaging, do they hate themselves?
The cruelty about what happened to Disney is that what originally made it become the top entertainment icon and revolutionized culture is that Walt was able to connect to others, he was able to have a vision and found the right people to make that vision come to fruition despite what the critics threw at him. It was his storytelling to bring people together that was the core of that Disney magic, his life’s work and legacy. Now, Iger slashed any of the talents and surrounded the corporation by those who are driven for the wrong means, mainly extracting more money and politics. They lost the greatest aspect that Walt had was to have a soul connection to brighten our world with wonder and joy. The company is so lost its tragic what is happening to Walt’s life work.
Call me overly optimistic, but I’m honestly getting excited. Because it’s most often when Disney is at a low point, that they start to genuinely experiment. As a fan of Disney, I hope they can pull themselves up again. Let us see what the future holds.
What's even worse is how Disney has been alienating long time fans like me because I started saying since 2016 (I think)- "This isn't the house that Walt built anymore". For one thing, they need to STOP buying up stuff and not be greedy. For me personally comes down this because Disney was my whole childhood (and continued into my adult life until recently)- 1. As I said, stop being greedy. Changes to the parks where people have to pay for more things, I feel they need to cut back on that and bring back the "Disney experience". 2. Stay out of politics. Along with this, stop hiring these people in your movies that have no respect for the company's past. Sure Disney has never been perfect, but they've done amazing stuff. 3. Trim the fat. I doubt Disney will ever leg go of Lucasfilms, Fox, Pixar, and the MCU, but they have gotten too big for their britches. 4. Stop these live-action money grabbers, they end up insulting the original. I can't believe I am saying this, but as bad as those animated sequels were in the 2000s, at least they tried something new story wise. 5. Get rid of the execs who keep making all of the bad decisions. I know it's unlikely for this to happen, but Disney has tarnished their image so badly for me, it's going to take a miracle for me to have faith in the company again. I use to believe the corruption of Hollywood would never affect them, but it finally did.
Not only it's too late for Disney. I give them 100 days before bankruptcy. Napoleon has been the only film I've been excited for. And that's with five nights coming out of nowhere.
They could do a decent Doom by acknowledging Doom Supereme. Where he can't actually beat Reed by raw intellect, he does supplement with magics. Actual magics. He did become a god-like being at one point and won Sue's support and heart; so that could be an interesting thorn in the expected relationship between Reed and Sue where she does at times tend to get ignored for his scientific pursuits. If they did it right, they could pit the men against each other (yes over a girl...) BUT also show that Reed does have some things he can learn from Doom's treatment of Sue. It could create a conflict of interest versus ethics with Sue to make a compelling crux point where she'd have to choose whom to stick with, and take an actual massively under-utilized "soccer mom" character to places where she CAN go, and hasn't had a lot of actual exploration with in the comics. While creating the save the world narrative that might just come from the last place you'd expect... because like you said with WISH, Monkey's Paw effect. Doom may have subjugated the world to make it better, but was it really better at the end? These are some of the most powerful, prominent characters Marvel has made... and that they've never been done well on screen (except by a Corman film of all things - that Marvel won't even acknowledge still exists) is galling. So hopefully, they will follow the right storylines this time. Because there's a LOT you can do if you know and care about this First Family. It's not actually that hard to get it right...
They just need to manage their expectations. To create blockbusters, their stories and characters have to use themes relatable to the widest range of audience: men, women, gay, straight, adult, child, and to each one's past, present and future selves, but that would leave no room to showcase humanity's million minorities. To the degree that they focus on illuminating a specific minority, they will lose connection to the wider audience and that will be reflected in their box office draw. Why they use blockbuster budgets to create niche movies and expect the same return is beyond my comprehension. If it were so easy for the common audience to find satisfaction in niche themes, how is it that niche audiences cannot find satisfaction in common themes?
Pandering to minority is Just an excused, what they actually want is social changed based on what their version is. For example female lead must be girl's boss, Men must be villain or dumb, her assistant must be gay and her parent must be dead or non binary
Bob Iger's strategy of buying every major studio was such a big mistake and has lead the company to the miserable state it's in right now. I don't think at this point as long as he's in charge, will anything become better at the company. If I were anyone on the board right now, I'd get him out as soon as possible.
I saw an early screening of Disney's WISH (the movie, not the cruise ship), and I thought it was enjoyable but not impressive. I also didn't like the downfall of the villain. The King wasn't evil. He just needed some professional counseling. PS: WISH already features a reimagined diversity of the Seven Dwarfs and a female lead without a direct romantic counterpart, then why the heck is Disney wasting everyone's time with the Rachel Zegler film?
What amazes me is that Netflix's leo performs better than Disney's wish. Which means people would rather see an old lizard helping fifth graders with personal problems than a teenage girl trying to save her kingdom from a selfish king.
I feel like Disneys Reputation turned it into a selffulfilling prophecy. All of their projects aren't just lower in quality but people expect less and less from them. A mediocre movie would gather exitment and still be well recived back in the day, but now it just puts more salt into the wound.
Disney is immortal. Even if only as the brand attached to another company's children's content, the name itself will remain relevant indefinitely. The current corporate entity is too large and debt-laden to continue in its current form. Unless interest rates drop quickly, their balance sheet will bleed value. They need to replace most of the senior leadership and restructure to have any hope of growth in the short or medium term.
The worst part about Wish's failure is that it was the last chance for Disney to put more effort in original content again. Now their going to do nothing but unnecessary sequels and live-action remakes.
Dr Doom would have been great as a villain, and softly introducing the mutants ( the Fantastic 4 are not technically mutants but that's another debate) Now Disney want to do an arc with an actor in deep trouble and apparently who can't be replaced due to some contract clauses. Pretty hard to replace a character for another when his name is in the title.
I saw a recent trailer for Wish that features clips from other Disney films before showing similar scenes in Wish. I'm guessing they're trying to pull what they did with Marvels when they showed clips from Endgame.
I'm just going to vent for a second but I want to make it clear that I don't want to hate disney nor do I get any joy from it. That said, I'm so done and annoyed with how things have come out. From he constant milking of franchises, making stories feel more and more like products, to how awful they treat their own workers and people who make them their own films. This no longer feels like a place of creativity and passion but instead a bunch of old people in suits manipulating us for as much money as they can. I know that at the end of the day it is still a business but you don't have to look far to see companies accomplishing both quality and profit. It's like they just pump out everything as quickly and cheap as possible while still spending around 200 milion dollars on projects that could be executed much better even with a cheaper budget and are like, "It's a sequel or it has Marvel stamped on top" and that's enough. I'm sure IF the people who actually make the films (or now products) were given the freedom and time to do what they want could make some amazing stuff. I just hate the fact that I have become a person who wouldn't feel sad if disney went bankrupt
Disney lost any attention I had with this film the moment they said it could've been 2D but decided to then insult 2D animation and call it limiting and just make it in the same style they've used since Tangled. Disney films use to look unique with none of them being quite the same in style and all showcased beautiful animation. Some even had 3D software to help them make things they couldn't do in 2D. But no, now they just wanna do 2D all the time. I hate it. And from what I've scene in the trailer I don't see anything that would've stopped this film from being primarily 2D. They're just lazy, cheep or have no one left who knows who to do it. Also they deliberately hid the king's evil idea [which I still don't think he's completely wrong] just to draw up people talking about the film, saying how the king was right. Cause they rather have people argue about the film cause no press is bad press. At least thats what I think and I'm not alone in that. And that type of toxic marketing is beyond gross. Feeding off people's feelings in such a negative way is disgusting. But what can you expect from a company that supports camps in China. Which is another reason why I'm not supporting them. I maybe buy one or two songs of their old classic films or had bought hard copies of my favorite Disney childhood past films but thats as far is goes now. Disney really did kill its brand for me at least. No more parks, no Disney Plus, no more of my time
Another great video! Agree for sure about wish, it's not looking great Off topic, id like to see your take on the new Scott Pilgrim show, of that's a series youre into. I've heard a mix of things that make me unsure, but I feel your videos and reviews usually do a good job of letting me tell if it's something I'd like or not!
I heard a rumor that, in the upcoming Fantastic 4 film, Reed Richards will get sidelined in favor of Sue and I forget the exact wording but I think that Sue is going to be some kind of girl boss or something. Honestly, Disney has been kind of disappointing lately. They've been doing so many not great things and it's made me kind of want to distance myself from anything they make.
I'd rather just watch shounen anime. At least their female characters are badass without being stuck-up. That and the hand-drawn animation keeps getting better each year.
I just wanted a new Princess but this is what Disney chooses to do for their 100 year anniversary? Disney just keeps losing and forgetting what built their empire in the first place.
Oh, I forgot Trolls 3 was being released this month. I actually like the films well on their own, but haven’t been watching TV or seen many ads for it in my section of the internet. 😅 At least Trolls has creatures in sparkly, flashy outfits and bright colors. And don’t take themselves too seriously, hence why they’re my go-to movie to relax with.
I am very worried about the MCU Fantastic Four, for two main reasons. 1. Every live action iteration of this franchise has been bad so far, i doubt it will change. 2. Doctor Doom. Every live action version of Doom has never been true to his comic version. The thing about Doom is he is over the top but he can back it up. He is stronger than Hulk, he is smarter than Reed and Tony, he has more magic than Doctor Strange, and he wants everyone to know it at all times.
You know what mcu did to loki, he make him dumb in his own tv shows and in second season they make him into British tv shows and not loki shows. Hulk were emasculated, the last movie he is hulking is in age of ultron and Even then he is Just there. Drax is the most promise character to get revenge against thanos but James gunn make him comedic relief character. Thor turny into doofy character from scary movie one
Disney has had times where they were struggling before, such as the period of time after Walt passed away, the post DIsney Renaissance where several direct to video sequels were being pumped out, and now it's like history is repeating itself with Disney just remaking inferior live action version of their beloved animated classics. This year is definitely one of Disneys worst years, and hopefully these box office bombs and backlash will change their future plans. Tell Disney what you want with your wallets.
I said it before and will keep saying it. Disney needs a complete management overhaul and a correction of past projects and adjusting of the upcoming ones to meet the want of the fans who spend their hard-earned money to keep the company alive! They need to gain their trust back, and in doing this they need to expel their woke ideas and CORRECTLY include diversity like the latest animated Spiderman movie. Replacement of original characters and distortion of original plots for the sake of 'correction' is a big mistake because there never was a need for adjusting to begin with! All they did was destroy a good story for NO GOOD REASON!
Disney like most if not all corporations now care more about what blackrock and vanguard think of their DEI scores than their customers. (Because blackrock and vanguard together have tens of trillions of dollars and basically run the world)
I think a lot of people neglect the effect streaming has had on Disney in particular. They have the most popular streaming service of any studio that still does theatrical releases. Only Amazon and Netflix are bigger. The more popular a streaming service, the more it will eat into box office.
You gotta feel kinda bad for the Mouse…This year was supposed to be a celebration, but it ended up being an intervention. What a goddamn embarrassment, man.
What? Why? Why would I "feel bad" for a billion dollar company who's been digging their own grave for decades? Fuck Disney. They're getting everything they deserve. Can't wait to see their parks overgrown with weeds and sedge grass.
@@_Jay_Maker_ I wouldn’t say they’ve been digging their own grave for THAT long. It was only really after Endgame where Disney really started falling apart.
You know, I really don't need to watch this movie at all. And I really wish (no pun intended, sorry) that Star could've been a shapeshifter, like what the concept art implies. But all in honesty, I hope Disney gets a taste of their medicine.
Something about the way Ziegler is used in promotions reminds me of when Emma Watson was promoting Beauty and the Beast 2017. Only problem is Watson spent over a decade as Hermione and had a built-in audience. Ziegler doesn't have that following so she just comes off as a spoiled brat.
Well, I’m pretty sure he just say that Disney has officially ruin their 100th anniversary if I wanted to declare their 100th anniversary then just go watch Encanto
After learning about all the news concerning that company like the forced progressive push in their content, misuse of The Muppets franchise (especially having Steve Whitmire kicked out of the Muppets), live action remakes and uninteresting, generic looking animated fare, I don’t have any high hopes for that company.
At least in my generation Disney has never done this bad for so long before, I know the company has had way worse slumps in the past and was able to get out of it but I'm doubtful if the people who got the company back on it's feet in the past are still around to do it now.
Why do you keep griping about the "out of touch" live action Snow White project without even offering a snarky "Gee, they didn't seem to have any problems with 'dwarves' in 2014's The 7D." It's understandable if you don't have the time or interest in looking at other versions of Snow White to see what they did with the dwarves or dwarf stand-ins. But seriously, The 7D **IS** Disney finding something else to do with the dwarves that modernizes them. Sheesh - that show would've been good for a hundredth anniversary celebration too.
I feel like Disney should slow down when it comes to putting out new content. As much as I like them they need to slow down a bit and focus on quality rather than quantitiy. Although Inside out 2 has potential
I think that’s the main thing they need to do right now. They’ve been putting out too much content with Star Wars and Marvel to the point where the products aren’t fully finished.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 had Doctor Doom as the leader of a villain Alliance that included Loki and has Doctor Doom gaining Odin's powers and taking over the earth
Y'know what's really annoying? Asha and star were meant to be a couple in the orginal concept because Star was a shape-shifting boy. He and Asha would then travel through different planets and realms to save Rosas but I bet they scrapped that cause apparently it is wrong to dream of true love these days. Also, her dress was supposed to be orange. That would've definitely made her stand out in the Disney Princess line up since there had never been a princess with an orange dress. The problem with Wish is that it had too many filler characters that contribute nothing to the plot. They didn't give the audience time to connect with the characters. No one cared when Simon asked for forgiveness for betraying Asha because that was literally the first and only time they interacted. Most of the songs are mediocre too which is a shame becauss Ariana Debose is an incredible singer. I am seriously beyond annoyed and disappointed. I WISH they'd rewrite the whole thing and then release a better version in theaters for free as an apology to Ariana Debose and for wasting our time.
They made this bed and now Disney must lay in it. I don't have any hope for X-men and especially Fantastic Four. The only reason Pascal got the part is because everyone else turned it down. That says a lot and we know what to expect.
Yes, they are absolutely fantastical beings. Peter Dinklage already interpreted an Nordic based Dwarf in Infinity War, so why the hell is he complaining about the Seven Dwarves? Like, i guess they are complaining that they are a comedical relief but thats easily fixed, like the majority of the complains that these people have about old animations.
I think Disney has been wandering for too long and lost focus on what its priority as Disney should be; like you said, the celebration of the 100th anniversary should have been their top priority for at least the past five years and from the excerpts from the trailer of Wish you've shown us, the motion picture doesn't look in the least different or original from what they've been doing for the past decade. Where are the creative challenges and risks? I would have expected Disney to put out something so innovative and ahead of its time, as to remind everyone who the pioneer in animation is...but no. Do they even have a demographic target anymore? Who are they making these movies for? Disney got hungry for more and other things..and now it's all coming back up.
Disney became ashamed of what made them successful in the first place, so they’ve effectively turned their backs on success.
I mean, growing up in the 2000s, people always criticized Disney for the things they no longer do. Now everyone is criticizng them for listening to their audience before.
…
But why would Disney do that when they know it costs them revenue?
Disney is at that point where increasing the wealth of shareholders is more important than the talent who create.
The dwarves live in a two story building, with glass windows and indoor plumbing. That's a medieval mansion.
the idea of indoor plumbing medieval style was shitting in a bucket and throwing it out your window.
After seeing how outside people can ruin things, gatekeeping is good.
As better as that is, it would be yet another "character we thought was good is revealed to actually be evil" trope which Disney has been overdoing ever since Frozen's Hans.
@@bluespirit5112 and then somehow the hero seems more villainous then the actual villains.

Yes, "nice" doesn't mean "good" ...a lesson a lot of people could use these days if you ask me :)
You think that this being Disney’s 100th anniversary, you think they would use their mascot himself to make a movie to celebrate its 100th anniversary
I've just listened to the Villain Song for "Wish", "This Is The Thanks I Get?", and I couldn't help but feel like that ironically describes Disney's situation rather aptly.
What a way to celebrate 100 years of your entire legacy by churning out nothing but failure after failure during the same year.
Once Upon a Studio shows that Disney still has that magical touch...
Just wish Disney can bring it back in their films

Lol so people paid to see it and then just left?
@@Turtlemmd Honestly it might be like the 2019 scam where Disney might've bought seats and gloat about how much it made
@MediaGhost_ XD that would be wild. Wouldn't surprise me though
The man’s every detail screams ‘I’m evil.’
Edit: Or they could make him just full-blown evil.
And then we're back again with the 'sympathetic villains' which we claim to be getting tired of 😂
Using Doctor Doom effectively would require writers who are willing to take the character *dead seriously*. I can't imagine that happening with the current domination of the writing side of Hollywood by irony-poisoned hacks.
I really don't want someone in-universe to go "his last name is Doom, how could he not be the villain" or giggle at his name.
What wrong with Iron Man's new armorers?
You speak for no one.
now i don't think its imposable for Disney to get back on its feet but its going to take quite a bit of effort
Of course it's too late for Disney, that being said I'm expecting Deadpool 3 to have even more cameos than Space Jam 2 because, you know desperation.
I say serves them right. What Disney needs is to bring back 2D animation.
That wouldn't change the awful writing.
@@MaverickhunterXZerobut the boring 3D look

For me personally comes down this because Disney was my whole childhood (and continued into my adult life until recently)-

I almost 100% agree with you. I think Disney, like most hardcore addicts, will need to hit bottom before they can improve.
What did you even you write here?
Let’s just hope Wish does well in the box office and merchandising.
Disney not just hates their past.
Disney hates 2D ANIMATION.
Well, who would’ve thought…
every single other studios is beating Disney at their own game
I feel like Disneys Reputation turned it into a selffulfilling prophecy. All of their projects aren't just lower in quality but people expect less and less from them.
A mediocre movie would gather exitment and still be well recived back in the day, but now it just puts more salt into the wound.
Disney really needs to fix themselves. Otherwise this will become an ongoing trend for Disney.
ACTIVISTS DISNEY'S DISASTER.
If Disney came back to life and saw what happened to his own work and his company. Walt would kill himself out of sheer embarrassment and shame.
If their strategy is to make Walt spin so fast in his grave that he can be used as an alternative energy source, it’s working
The worst part about Wish's failure is that it was the last chance for Disney to put more effort in original content again. Now their going to do nothing but unnecessary sequels and live-action remakes.
Dr Doom would have been great as a villain, and softly introducing the mutants ( the Fantastic 4 are not technically mutants but that's another debate)
Now Disney want to do an arc with an actor in deep trouble and apparently who can't be replaced due to some contract clauses.
No more parks, no Disney Plus, no more of my time
Agree, each 2D animation of Disney has different style but since tangled, we keep getting this Chibi looking characters.

Off topic, id like to see your take on the new Scott Pilgrim show, of that's a series youre into. I've heard a mix of things that make me unsure, but I feel your videos and reviews usually do a good job of letting me tell if it's something I'd like or not!
Their plan is to double down 😂
Disney probably procrastinated on Wish for wayyy too long and ended up making the plot the last minute lol
Totally unrelated but what happened to M? I been outta the loop for awhile.
I'd rather just watch shounen anime. At least their female characters are badass without being stuck-up. That and the hand-drawn animation keeps getting better each year.
There's many female in anime that makes Disney female Princess poor version of what they used to be.

At least Trolls has creatures in sparkly, flashy outfits and bright colors.

Let them fail, they wouldn’t listen to the consumers.
It would've ben cool if they introduced Galactus in the MCU.
So much for 100 years...
I think what happens here is what I call "the Fleischer revenge".
I can’t remember Raya’s messenging. Was it something’s like “Trust everyone, but you can’t trust everyone”?
The Kingdom has Fallen
The House of Rats
It could be worse for Disney, they could be Warner Bros.
A disaster for disney is comedy gold for me lol
I think it would be better if the Disney company was broken up and wasn't an oligarchy anymore. It'd be easier to turn around a smaller ship.
Hopefully Disney learns as this year has been constant Box Office bombs in every division!
I liked the Fantastic Four and the Rise of Silver Surfer.
I really doubt that Disney will ever learn.
They will learn when their profits start falling.
I AGREE 👍 YOU TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE IDEA.
Disney like most if not all corporations now care more about what blackrock and vanguard think of their DEI scores than their customers. (Because blackrock and vanguard together have tens of trillions of dollars and basically run the world)
Blackrock and Vanguard, from what I know of them, are just a real life Shinra Corp, but boring.

I wouldn’t say they’ve been digging their own grave for THAT long. It was only really after Endgame where Disney really started falling apart.
You know what they say if you keep failing and failing, then it's too late for you. Disney is a lost cause at this point so why bother with them.
Honestly, I think it’s too little too late for Disney to listen. All they just want to do now is to pander and false virtue single.
I love the Chris Evans-Jessica Alba-FF4-movies. 😊
It’s only gonna get worse and it most likely started with the feminist ghostbusters movie especially when the ghost got a blow to the grapes
Why do you keep griping about the "out of touch" live action Snow White project without even offering a snarky "Gee, they didn't seem to have any problems with 'dwarves' in 2014's The 7D."
It's understandable if you don't have the time or interest in looking at other versions of Snow White to see what they did with the dwarves or dwarf stand-ins.
Agreed
Yeah, Inside Out 2 actually looks kind of good
I think that’s the main thing they need to do right now.
Hey J, how's it feel to have lived long enough to see all your favorite franchises go down in flames?
*Exhausted* It feels great...
Apparently, it seems Shrek as a franchise is one of the several options that didn't go down in flames. Excited for Shrek 5 now.
I guess Disney was just tired of being successful and they decided to go out Crashing and burning
Oh how the might have fallen. Even if Wish sucks, at least it won’t be offensively bad.
Speaking of Fantastic 4 they maybe changing the gender of the silver surfer to female.
Even Isekai anime looks more creative than Disney
Somehow I was Unsubscribed from you!
Glad your video still popped up in my recommendations feed and I put 2&2 together.
Re-Subbed!
Literally just outta Wish, it’s on bearable
The new movie is called wish to represent how we’re never getting 2D animation back 😔
