This song is about James’ mother dying of cancer because she refused treatment. The family was Christian Scientist and they didn’t take medication. They relied on God.
@@AnibalAvelar Yea. The god failed his mother. It's literally the song. His mom was sick -> refused medical care cause God would heal her -> she died -> song exists.
Great reaction, Mike! This is my favorite song from the Black Album. You can't deny the production from Bob Rock(and engineer Randy Staub) was INCREDIBLE! Just amazing. Thanks for reacting to this. Peace! ✌️
Weekend before last Metallica headlined two of the four days of Aftershock Music Festival here in my backyard in Sacramento. 140,000 in attendance at the four day affair. Everyone was checked for proof of vaccination at the gates. The last Aftershock was in 2019 and it was the last show l saw before lock down. Headlined by Tool and Korn. Babymetal was third billed. I had seen Band-Maid two weeks earlier at the Echoplex in LA. Slowly but surely things are beginning to improve. At least around here in Sacramento. Best regards.
Improved? Hardly. When you're required to show proof of relinquishing your freedom at an open air venue... ...we're worse off than we were in the beginning. 😬🙄
@@tallycahamuhlhetru26 yeah, yeah, yeah. When you become interested in laying your life down for my freedom let me know. This is hardly the place for your political views. But you knew that, didn't you?

A lot of their songs are about that
Well said. I was going to write basically the same but fair play. Makes the song what it is with the meaning of it
Not, that’s not about … it’s the reason but the lyrics are about god failed

I have never seen someone react to this! Such a legendary song :) Love it!

My favorite Black Album song is Through the Never
@@Harryjay6 very underrated track. The singles get all the love, but Through the Never, God that failed and Holier than Thou are awesome. 🤘
5:52 is my favourite part of the song. Outstanding 🔥
Another great from the black album is “my friend of misery “ fire , you can try it live as well!!!
Great song
Great reaction mate. You can feel it.
Metallica - My Friend Of Misery
My fav mettalica song 🤘
The most surreal intro, and yeh, I mean the intro of your video, dude.
The Kings. 🤘
Broken is the promise, betrayal
The healing hand, held back by deepened nail
Follow the god that failed
