I am definitely cool-toned But to avoid chemicals I have been coloring my very light grey hair with chemicals and it is pulling red despite my best efforts to counteract that. I try to pick wigs similar to my hair. I really need to see if that blog discusses auburn colors appropriate for cool-toned skin. (My next step is to go back to grey but I am not ready yet.)
Thank you for answering a fairly complicated question very simply. I always thought I had warm undertones, but I’m definitely a cool tone gal! That information will definitely be helpful as I build my wardrobes-clothes and wigs! 🙀
Thanks for your excellent video! I always thought I had yellow skin tones and had warm undertones, but then platinum blondes worked on me, and my veins looked bluish green. Well your white paper test at the window cinched it- I have both yellows & pinks in my skin so I now realize I have neutral skin but closer to warm. Thanks for all your tips- hair, clothing, & jewelry! 😊🍃🌷🍃
This was an eye-opening video. I always knew I was warmed-tone, but I didn't realize how that applied to what I was wearing, including clothes and jewelry.
Thank you for the explanation, I really appreciate it. I am warm undertone, I really like the color brown sugar sweet cream by Belltress, but I look awful, it washes me out, so I returned it, it was dalgona 16. It took me awhile to figure out my undertone. Thank you again, you’re awesome.
Excellent video, Frannie! I believe I'm cool tone (pink undertone), but that doesn't mean, as you said, that we can't wear warm colors either. Some of the ashy colored wigs can make my skin look dull and I prefer ashy with blended colors. I've done most of the Auburns but it seems the Auburns with burgundy highlights are more flattering. Now I'm into the med. to lighter browns with blond blends. Frannie, I also noticed that the same color in a regular synthetic wig vs. a heat-friendly wig don't often look the same because of the different fibers. Also, those wigs that are rooted, for instance, in a Paula Young rooted wig, SF12/286 is slightly different from the regular SF12/28. Of course, because it's rooted but I noticed the whole wig takes on a darker look. It varies.
I agree with all you've said. Sometimes rooting is done throughout the wig, and sometimes it's just at the roots. Ellen Wille has different nomenclature for that. Interesting about the auburn with burgundy HL...as a warm person, the burgundy does not look good on me. I love it though. Thanks so much for watching!❤️
Frannie, you do the most comprehensive videos I've seen. I think color choice is the most difficult. As a Cosmetologist for over 35 yrs , I understand undertones. But in choosing wigs, it is much more difficult. I will definitely watch the videos you suggested. Thank you!
My natural color used to be dark brown with a slight reddish tinge. The first time l went blonde it took about six bleachings to get the red out years ago. Now (with age) l am a natural platinum blonde. I have wigs in every color. Lately i have added soft pink and l ordered a light blue that turned out to be purple. Ordering a wig on a budget is a very iffy thing. I find that completely altering my makeup to make these colors work can be fun...or not.
Thanks Frannie. When I was younger, when I wasn’t working…I’d be outside with my kids..then my grandkids…so I’d get dark when I’d sit near their kiddie pools. Hard to believe. I’m old and kind of paler now but usually still go for the gold colored jewelry (when I wear it) and have gone from a lighter blonde to a mixture of golden blonde with a few whitish highlights (visible in the sun). My veins are a mess. Had blood work done😏. This is interesting. I like the golden honey color in my hair..even tho it’s gotten sort out of white ..much paler .. on some strands toward the front. Also I liked that off white blouse with the pretty summer flowers. You selling that?😆. Imagine..knitting..wigs..and Frannies clothing and jewelry? You’re quite amazing. Thanks for this video. I’ll check out. Not giving up. My hair…was dirty blonde but always had light reddish highlights in sun. When I was in high school I washed in some light henna and it actually brought out more golden blond. And I liked it and so did everyone else. So….I think I need a warm light honey blonde wig but since I’m older..not quite as much honey or gold..but definitely a slight touch of honey or gold. Yes…I am complicated, Frannie. 🤷🏼♀️🤦♀️. Hugs and love to you and your family. 💥💖💖💖💖. Will email you soon.
Thank you so much for this video ! I’m on the cool tone side (I think 🧐), but I have persistent redness, so there is that. My own hair is the color of dirty dishwasher water. I’m still VERY much confused when it comes to choosing colors 🤦♀️🤷♀️
🤣🤣🤣 You never fail to crack me up! It's hard for me to tell from your pictures, because you do have redness (which looks pinkish) but your skin also appears to have yellow in it. Of course, it's hard to tell when we're not in person. Also, the warmer toned wigs look good on you. For example, the Carol Brady wig has a warmer tone, and I like you in that color.
What a great video! Very helpful! I believe I am neutral. It's funny because if you look at my closet and my wigs, I wear a variety of cool and warm colors. I do however have to play with my makeup a bit more when I wear light ash blondes. Thank you for your wealth of information! You are truly appreciated! Blessings to you! ❤
Great info! Thanks so much for taking the time and care to educate me ( a 6 year wig wearer who has wasted &$$ and time in poor purchases). I was always a brunette 8/29 but now greys are coming in….silvery like the women in my family. This transition is hard….so Im looking for guidance. I do love bernstein rooted!

Hi Danielle, somebody told me that you sent your question to us via our website. I hope the answer you got was helpful. Thank you so much for watching the video!💕
thanks for the information. I'm new around these parts.. I am a cool yet olive undertone with very pronounced dark eyebrows (a bit of gray) with black/brown s&p bio hair that looks like gunmetal in the sun and suits me well, but I'm bored with it. I'm 67, and would love to find a believable cool, not too dark, but not too light brown that has some subtle highlighting but all the colors I see look too warm for me .. I'm average bordering on large.. Esthetica average seems to fit me best at the moment, but I notice Jon Reneau has a better selection of brunettes, but it's really hard to tell what's cooler - can you suggest a particular color in any line that might accommodate my borderline large head?
Have you looked at Coolest Ash Brown by Belle Tress? Belle Tress can often fit someone with a slightly larger than average head. You can see a swatch here: frannieshair.com/pages/belle-tress-color-chart If you click on the color, it will show you the wigs that come in that color. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much for watching!💕

It sure is. My natural haircolor is very dark brown almost black and the warmer browns do not work with my skin tone. The Ellen Wille espresso blends with the black and dark browns have been working well for me since they are cool and still have some dimension.
Curious, is your skin undertone warm or cool?💕
