You should. I used to live near the rail line in Canaan (close to the Depot) - annoying at 3 in the morning, but you never realize how much you miss it until you don't hear it anymore. One of the best trains out there. ;o)
The speeds vary between 10-25mph. This is shot south of Canaan, so this is actually the "short" local. The turn to Pittsfield is much longer and usually has two GP35m's. Tim
Excellent catch, great GP35 with it small nose/frame, loud horn! Tranquility is overrated, it'll go back to being quiet in a minute, like how the train looks like it comes out of a forest!

They had trains on duty at 3?
That was cool! There is a house near there that the tracks cross the driveway right in the front yard
A huge train compared to what we usually see...
Cool video, glad it stayed on the tracks.
Running long hood at a blind crossing....I can't say that I blame him.....great video.....

Great Video! I appreciate you posting this.

Nice catch!
Wow, it looks like that train is hauling ass! I've never rail fanned this railroad, but would really like to!
G. DiCarlo it's only allowed to go a maximum of 25 mph
wow nice catch
Wow, I didn't know they had such long freights on the Housatonic. What is the speed limit there?
Nice vid Tim!
