    I’m so sorry you’ve had to experience such a terrible person Mandii.
    Wheezy is right , it’s the person. The situation doesn’t matter , if someone doesn’t have integrity and is dishonest they will show you that no matter the situation. The rebellion will come no matter the boundary if they are not a good person to begin with.

    I love that you are so transparent about your experience Mandi. At the end of the day that man was simply intimidated and jealous of you.
    Those are the scariest types to be with because they see you rising….know that they can’t reach you so they do everything to tear you down because of their frail ego.
    Btw we had fun at the Dallas show! Make sure y’all bring Phor to the pod!!!

    You can have whatever your heart desires Mandii. There are folks out there who will accept your boundaries, respect them and respect you, but beyond that, value who you are. None of the things you are looking for out of life (sexually or otherwise) are too much, there is no such thing.

    Monogamy might feel safer, but a man who will cheat in an ENM dynamic will also cheat in a monogamous one.

    Mandi I have the same damn issue when it comes to ethical non monogamous relationships. It’s as if men can’t govern themselves or just be honest when we are trying to accept them for exactly who they are. The boundary is communication!! But people love toxicity and sneaky shit so much that they seem to prefer that. 🙄🙄

    • @rejectionisprotection4448
      @rejectionisprotection4448 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think that the men in ethical non monogamous relationships REALLY want polygynous "relationships", rather than ENM.
      In fact, I don't think they want relationships at all, just sex and situationships, while the woman in their life stays monogamous to them.

    I think the “Questioning Non-monogamy” conversation is an important one because people make it seem like non-monogamous relationships are just this enlightened and evolved magic bullet relationship style. In reality, whatever issues you had with monogamous relationships either double or just shift to something else.
    I think in Mandii’s case it was “non-monogamy is cool within these guidelines” but at the end of the day just like a monogamous relationship it all comes down to does your partner respect those guidelines. No amount of open or closed relationships will allow you to avoid that fact.

    • @Shalayah2010
      @Shalayah2010 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree. It seemed as if they thought having a non-monogamous relationship was the key to avoiding being cheated and betrayed. The self-awareness and accountability in their convo was very honest and raw. I commend them for being open about it. No one really talks about the downside of having an open relationships.

    This lifestyle is tough, no matter how much you discuss, have conversation and communicate. We as women can do "all" the things to keep it 100 and a 🥷 will find a way to step out. I hate it here but love it at the same time. May your heart finds peace and love that is open to you and your boundaries 😘

  • @jona-
    @jona- ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Weezy hit it right on the head. I used to have TWO boyfriends and it was fun but there’s a point where the conflict between all parties is too much to bear. A part of me really loved ENM but I couldn’t be functional in it. Being in a monogamous relationship now, I realized that I was looking for something outside of myself or that relationship. It’s wild to be so satisfied by one person. I really can be happy with the simplicity. It feels so good to have one person down bad for you and vice versa, rather than dividing that affection between all these different partners. I was much like y’all thinking I could never be happy in that kind of structure, but love is freeing and whole when it’s with the right person

    One of my fave convos of all time!Thank you both for being honest and vulnerable about questioning non monogamy from the perspective of sexually positive , open and empowered women. Being those things is never an open invitation for cheating , disrespect or to be treated like “whatever” bc “i thought you were cool.” It takes courage to try and do things that are considered out the norm to know what works for you and how to establish boundaries and parameters moving forward. I appreciate you ladies so much for the dialogue and this podcast!

    Mandii, NEVER forget how you feel right now. Because he’s going to spin the block once your heart is healed. People like him don’t change. He had ALL the freedom in the world and he just had to “rebel” against your trust. A real man can handle his woman asking for honesty. ❤ His “you’ll never meet someone who treats you like I do” is getting real close to emotional abuse.

    • @DFNUVS
      @DFNUVS ปีที่แล้ว

      GIVING SOMEONE CONSENT TO BE NON-MONOGAMOUS IS NOT CONFUSING OR CAPITULATION TO THAT PERSON’S NATURE IF YOU PRE-DEFINE THE TERMS OF NON-MONOGAMY. IT SOUNDS A LITLLE PERPLEXING BUT ITS ACTUALLY QUITE SIMPLE: THE ISSUE IS FULL DISCLOSURE NOT BEING FORTHCOMING. WHEN THAT NON-DISCLOSURE BECOMES A FACTOR THEN THERE’S A BREACH OF TRUST FOR WHICH YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE MAD AND UPSET.
      ITS NOT THE ACTIVITY THAT PRESENTS A PROBLEM MORE SO THAN IT BEING THE LACK OF DISCLOSURE AND DISCUSSION, IN ORDER TO GET CONSENT TO DO SUCH AN ACTIVITY. AND THEREIN LIES THE PROBLEM INHERENT IN ALL RELATIONSHIPS (MONOGAMOUS OR NON-MONOGAMOUS): THE PARAMETERS SET FORTH TO ESTABLISH THE RELATIONSHIP ARE INTERPRETED DIFFERENTLY FOR TWO PEOPLE (OR GROUP OF PEOPLE) WANTING THE SAME EXPERIENCES. ULTIMATELY, YOU FIND OUT THAT THE OTHER WAS BEING DECEPTIVE. AT THE LEAST, THIS SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER. THE RESL PROBLEM IS THAT NO COUPLE WANTS THE SANE THING THE SAME WAY…..EVER!

    • @DFNUVS
      @DFNUVS ปีที่แล้ว +1

      EVERY COUPLE OR GROUP FAILS. HOWEVER, IT IS WHAT YOU DO AFTER FAILURE THAT DETERMINES THE LONGEVITY OF SUCH A UNION IN THE FIRST PLACE. IF THERE WAS NO AGREEMENT AS TO WHAT THE AFTER-VALUE OF FAILURE LOOKS LIKE, THEN THE DEFAULT IS TO SEPARATE AND THE NATURAL INSTINCT IS TO CREATE DISTANCE. THE FEELINGS THAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING)GOOD OR BAD) ARE TO ENSURE THAT THE DISTANCE CREATED IS NEVER BREACHED AGAIN.
      IF IT TAKES ANGER AND ANIMOSITY TO KEEP THAT DISTANCE, THEN THAT IS WHAT OUR MINDS TEND TO CREATE AND PERPETUATE. ITS A SELF DEFENSE MECHANISM AND, PERHAPS, RIGHTLY SO. GETTING BEYOND THAT POINT TO CREATE THE NEXT HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP IS UNDERSTANDING NONE OF US HAVE CONTROL OVER THAT DYNAMIC. WE ONLY HAVE CONTROL OVER WHAT OUR MINDS PERCEIVE.
      🖤🖤🤓👌

    I’m with my forever person, we have been together for almost 5 years. It’s endgame for us. But we only opened up our relationship for the first time last year and I don’t think I can go back to monogamy.I believe starting off monogamous is key. It shows that you are willing to commit and learn everything you can about them before you decide to share. I love the thrill of talking to new people and the feeling of freedom with non-monogamy. My partner hasn’t had the opportunities I’ve had just yet, But I actually get off on the idea of him with others - even romantically. And, despite the fact that I don’t like being intimate or sexual with people I’ve just met, in order to make sure my bf can enjoy the perks of this openness, I booked a trip to our first sex club soon. This all goes to say, I do think it is possible with the right person. I just think the right person is so rare that you need to begin closed before you open up ( IF you’re looking for something to last forever, that is). If they’re right for you they won’t have an issue waiting, and if you’re right for them, you won’t have an issue with it either. I think you need to have a very strong foundation of trust before you can open any relationship. And once that’s there with the love and everything else, you’re good to go.

    Mandi I went thru a betrayal with an ex partner and i really felt your pain with you when you were talking. The beauty of it all which you may not be able to feel now is that you will come out of this truly knowing yourself & what you will and won’t tolerate. One thing that’s stuck with me recently is that it’s not my responsibility to wonder whether someone will or won’t be faithful. It’s simply not. Your purpose is to just love & let yourself be loved. And anyone who won’t follow suit can be shown the door. It won’t be easy to learn this habit but you need to learn to trust others and most importantly trust yourself. Trying to analyze and calculate a formula to determine if a man will treat you right just won’t work. They simply will or won’t. And with time you’ll learn to trust yourself and your gut enough to weed out the “wonts” quickly and painlessly. Sending you so much love. 🩵

    I don't care what no one says about "oversexualizing" things. Some behavior is just not appropriate point blank. I have a god daughter who when she was younger she used to innocently hug me and wrap her legs around me or just sit on my lap with her legs open. I used to always correct it and explained to her why. If you just let things like that go who knows who else she could be doing that too with so many sick people out there and they could take advantage. You have to teach kids these things, its for their own safety.

    Damn this was a deep ass episode... watching this almost a month after it was posted and truly hope Mandii is in a better place. Considering the title of the episode I just wanted to say, don't think these are ENM issues. The whole point of ENM like y'all said is honesty and communication. The boundaries of the relationship, although non-traditional, were clear asfuck. It sounds like the person was just not a good partner... that would have been the case whether y'all were monogamous or not. If non-monogamy is truly what you want for yourself in the future, I wouldn't throw it out the window bcs of him. I obviously am just an outsider looking in, but from how it looks you have very little blame in this shit. Wish you well and I hope future partners have your best interests at heart instead of their own

    The thing about the mom thing: My mother took care of me after I had a hysterectomy. I couldn't bend down, so after showers, she'd help me put on lotion in the hard to reach spaces. In those moments, it just felt like a mom helping her kid. I guess, I'm just really lucky that I do have a good relationship with my mother. I mean, it's not like I'm not gonna return the favor when she's pushing 90, and might need help then *shrugs*

    1:01:13 Mandii. I'm sorry you had to experience that in your previous relationship. Per the advice from your friends, I disagree. I think you should be able to have your relationship anyway you would like it as long as it's communicated. From what you've told us, y'all had the communication. There could be other factors in what didn't keep it going longer. I don't think you should not get the relationship you want in your next relationship. It's honestly, up to you, and the next person. It's a case by case basis.

    Dealing with a narc is exhausting. They take absolutely no responsibility for their own actions. And then will get the new supply to act like their little flying monkeys to keep tabs on you. They are just weird AF and highly insecure. Mandii, leaving was the best thing you could do for yourself. He will NEVER be right. These type of individuals are damaged goods and will literally drive you crazy if you stay.

    Can you edit the videos to have sections where you see the different topics that you’re talking about? Great convo but as a first time viewer, it would be super helpful to get better into your content ✨ hope the feedback is revived positively - thanks for a great and candid convo 🫶🏽

    57:44 Mandii, hopefully in the future, you keep your relationships private. This was a risk. You were speaking your POV on here but also speaking him up to the next person. Also, you don't have to keep them private because it's also your life. Just have to understand that this will always be a risk esp since there are people who want to be you and experience your partner(s).

    I think everyone is subconsciously, operating under the notion of, “nothing in life worth having comes easy.”
    I know how much some people don’t like Joe Rogan, but he had this professor of evolutionary behavior on, his name is Gad Saad, who explained this concept called Zahavian signaling. Basically the notion that in nature to obtain something (in context of the video which is on TH-cam, specifically a mate) the process in which you obtain it has to be costly. Because if it’s not costly, anybody can get it. And if anybody can get it then, in my own words now, what can possibly make it special to us?
    But in regards to Mandii, it shouldn’t have to work like this, but you might have to compromise parts of yourself to obtain what you want. Your partner will have to give up things to be with you too.
    Mandii, a healthy lifelong male partner might cost you sexual relationships with women. It might cost you the idea of not having children.
    Albeit mixed race, our dating pool as black woman is already significantly low even if we do date outside our race thanks to the European standard. There’s a difference between standards and unbudging expectations. At the end of the day, I say don’t let anything you want cost you something healthy AND necessary to you though.
