One of the greatest flights I've watched!
Ever since the beginning of TH-cam i have watched all the hang gliding videos progress. This video is by far one of the best ever to be uploaded.
I'm sure you make a pretty good risk assessment before jumping off a cliff, and you obviously are a pro on what you do, but I can't help but think "THAT was a close call". Thank you for sharing these amazing images. Fly safe.

its a bit expensive upfront but once youre trained up and have a glider its pretty cheap

@@nicholasplesko533 They are not. You can find used beginner gliders for less than an iphone. And although 5-10k for a new one seems like a lot, they can last several decades if well maintained. I own a wing made in 1992 still going strong. My main wing is from 2013.

@тαρ мє αи∂ ѕєχ ωιтн мє Mia I've never flown any large distance. However, you always need to keep a landing zone in sight that you can make a glide to. So you are constantly keeping an eye on the terrain for that. That keeps you familiar with where you were and where you are heading. Also almost everyone flies with a flight computer that tracks your position, altitude, speed, direction etc. Most even have a map like a navigator for your car. You can even plan a flight path that way.
Man if i'm having a bad day i watch this and it chases the blues away! Awesome flight and navigation! Wolfgang your the man!!!

Iam a trike soaring pilot now because of my ageing knees but flying hg wings scince 1978 i can say that this is such an awesome sport. Last week i had a hugh golden eagle fly over the top of my sail and park right over my wingtip checking my feathers out . I was listning to the eagle and the hawk at the time. Just dont want to come down and land. Great video wild launch. Thx

The walk up to it would freak me out with visions of a foot slipping on loose gravel, a rogue gust of wind at the wrong moment etc ! Nice rig and camera set up. Hey man, I really like your video on how it brings me excitement over beautiful landscape allowing me to experience professional hang gliding from my couch. This is some great relaxing stuff to enjoy over my evening tea.

Danke für die schönen Bilder mit diesem wunderbaren agilen Flügel. Halte eigentlich nichts von Höhe wegheizen - aber wenn die Kiste so gut gleitet, dass man kaum Höhe verliert :-) Tja die Landung mit Strasse, Auto und Zäunen hätte ins Auge gehen können und auch mit den leichten Turnschuhen seinen Drachen im Hochalpinen Gelände zum Start tragen ist nicht die schlauste Idee - save flights!

Bravo! What amazing flying machines are HG. I fly only PG, but this really makes me want to move to Europe and fly HG! Hope to meet you in person one of these days at Andy Jackson in California.
This is utterly amazing. I wish you had some way of displaying some data like ground speed, air speed, vertical speed, altitude etc... What speed to you peak out at on these runs? I'm going to guess about 140-160km/hr?
Also, how many hours of experience would it take someone to develop the skills to do a similar run without getting in over their head?
This is my favorite corner of the world by the way, spend two summers there.

There's plenty of telemetry programs you can run from a simple phone that will show all that, complete with 3d recording of flight path.

For HG pilots (and aspiring pilots), watch the streamline body control here. Drag comes in 2 forms. Your wing producing lift results in one of them, but the other is parasitic. Anything in the airflow (down tubes, wires, body, etc.) contribute, but your body in the harness is a major source. Knowing this, watch Wolfi control his wing efficiently while keeping his body parallel to airflow, devoid of all the cross controlling BS (twisting) amateurs almost always produce. Result? A world class pilot and competitor.

That was a great video! I have one small request--can you do the whole thing again but with FPV view? It's hard to watch 10 minutes of flying backwards--and, the view gets blocked by the Delta-wing. 😉

You are a loop snag away from carnage on all the low passes with that bridal tether flapping behind. I know the odds are low.. im sure you know this too.. keep flying a long time. A second check will save your life, respectfully :)
